It was a year ago that the San Diego Chargers were 8-2 and all the sports analysts had us pegged playing the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl 41….
A year later, we’re a 5-5 team tied with the Broncos for the AFC West, in the weakest division in the AFC; A.J. Smith fired a 14-2 coach for a guy he could get along with; we have an inconsistent defensive coordinator in Ted Cotrell who single-handily made Wade Philip’s shining rush defense look like a joke, and our QB of the future (Philip Rivers) has been giving his best impersonation of Rex Grossman for most of the football season.
Hmm….where exactly am I going with this?
Nowhere, really. I just needed to vent against my team.
Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving to all.
And death to the Patriots……..cheating s.o.b.s…..

Happy Thanksgiving everyone at Blogs for Victory …

I thank God for all the good fortune I have; i.e., thanks be to God for every breath I take.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone, even you troll pukes in Washington State who are celebrating Thanksgiving as a day of mourning for the Injuns who were raped and pillaged by the Pilgrims.
Football: I couldn’t care less. My Redskins will go 7-9, as I predicted, maybe even 6-10. My revised pick for the Super Bowl: Dallas 34, Pats 31. The Pats really shouldn’t have scored that last touchdown against the ‘Boys, when the game was already iced. They woke a sleeping giant…

Happy Thanksgiving all. I may be the only one happy with a 5-5 team. Of course when your an AZ Cardinal fan, 5-5 is about as good as it gets.
How about those ASU Sun Devils???

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Since we are on football, give the NFL Network and cable providors a chicken sandwich only, because of their spat which means most people cannot watch the game tonight.
Giants will take Dallas in the title game, then, like anyone else who plays the Patriots, get squashed.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone (and I do mean everyone). And since we’re talking football, I gotta put in a plug for the Kansas Jayhawks since my oldest daughter graduated from there and still lives in Lawrence. The Jayhawks are enjoying their best season in THE HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL at 11-0 and a national ranking of #2 behind LSU. ROCK, SHOCK JAYHAWKS!!
A little closer to home, Indiana is going to a bowl game for the first time in a long time (and beat Purdue for the Old Oaken Bucket — a TWOFER), and the Indiana Hoosier Basketball team is ranked 8th and has two of the most awesome freshmen in the country.
Cheers all.

Spook,
My partner is a Jayhawk alum. He’s ecstatic and I also have enjoyed watching them this year. I hope they get to the title game.

neocon, Spook: I don’t follow NCAA football very much. I did follow ASU a bit when I was stationed at Williams AFB from ‘78 to late-’83, during the end of the Frank Kush era. I even went to the Fiesta Bowl once, after the Sun Devils and Wildcats went to the Pac-10. The first Fiesta Bowl–I think– after they left the WAC, was between UCLA and Arkansas, and the game wasn’t sold out. They gave all the extra tickets to local military bases, and I went and watched a 10-10 tie.
Wow, Kansas? Go Jayhawks!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all! I’ll be sharing this blessed day at my son-in-law’s parents house. His mom is Filipino, and makes great Lumpia’s(sp?). I hope they’re on the menu.
OT: What’s the skinny on this Scott McClellan story? Is it cause for concern, or are the libs, as usual, blowing it out of proportion?
9. eric | November 22nd, 2007 at 10:31 am
Looks like the libs are blowing the McClellan story out of proportion.
“Peter Osnos, the founder and editor-in-chief of Public Affairs Books, which is publishing McClellan’s book in April, tells NBC from his Connecticut home that McCLellan, “Did not intend to suggest Bush lied to him.”"

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I will be spending the day with two partners (and their families) of a law firm from which I recently resigned (amicably, of course).

1H8L1B5, is there anything that the leftards don’t blow out of proportion? ;)
11. neocon | November 22nd, 2007 at 10:35 am
Thanks for the link Eric. It would appear that the only liars in that situation were Plame, Wilson and the entire MSM. As usual.
12. eric | November 22nd, 2007 at 10:38 am
As usual. My hope is the left continues to focus on the Bush administration. They seem to have forgotten that President Bush will not be running for re-election in 2008.

Here’s to wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving. This year we have something very special to celebrate — my sweetie’s daughter just got engaged! Her boyfriend proposed to her just a couple of weeks ago at the base formal. He’s a Marine, currently stationed at Camp Pendleton. But he’s scheduled to leave for 13 months, first to Iraq, then Afghanistan, starting in early January. So they plan on getting hitched in a small ceremony in December, then we’ll throw them a larger bash when he gets back. They’re so cute together. I think they’ll make a great couple. Who knows? Maybe we’ll make it a two-fer.

It’s a good thing there are so many deep and meaningful things for which I can be thankful—-for living in this great country, for the freedoms we share, for good health, great family, good friends, for sunshine this morning when we were threatened with snow and bad driving conditions……..
Because my two teams are the Denver Broncos and the CU Buffaloes, and I need some perspective on how many other things inspire gratitude and thanksgiving.
(OK, the Rockies did get TO the World Series….)

Many congrats, Rico, and here’s hoping your sweetie makes an honest man out of you. lol

And a happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Mark. We can argue again tomorrow.

Listen to all this silliness invoking God and your football teams. Obviously, He is a Greenbay fan.
Go Packers!

Even though my Broncos aren’t doing much this year, I have much to be thankful for this year. A great family, a wonderful job, and a new grandson. But the thing I’m most thankful for this year, is that my daughter is spending her first Thanksgiving in 8 years out of the army and in the states.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Rico, when my then-fiancee and I were wondering about the best way to plan a wedding for two mature people with established households, we decided to have a surprise wedding at our annual Christmas party. All our favorite people were going to be there anyway, the house would look great, I already had the perfect dress, the party was planned and paid for, and was wonderful.
There is a lot to be said for a little spontanaeity—even if it IS hard to spell.
Invitations were handed out at the door, the surprise got everyone excited and in the mood, and the judge father of a friend presided. Our friends still talk about it, and it allowed us to explain that we made our decision because we were merging two households and did not want or need gifts, so this was a way to make people comfortable with that.
Now, if you are angling for a lot of loot, this is not the best approach.
Congratulations to the happy couple, and our thanks for his service.
