Impeached Judge Hastings Resigns from House Intelligence Committee
December 5th, 2007 at 03:25pm Matt Margolis
This morning it was reported that Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL), an impeached federal judge (and convicted by the Senate), resigned from the House Intelligence Committee.
One has to wonder why someone who was impeached, convicted and stripped of his position as a result of federal bribery charges was ever put on the sensitive committee in the first place, considering that those on the committee are given access to our country’s most secret intelligence information.

One also has to wonder how this crook got elected in the first place.

But he hasn’t resigned as a Representative.
Nancy will reward him with a new chairmanship if they manage to hold onto the House in 2008. Right now, he is a perfect example of Dem corruption, so Nancy needed to keep him out of the spotlight for a few months.

Because he is a Democrat, and was appointed by Democrats, for Democrats. A cut above Sandy Burglar.

More from the most “ethical” Congress……………..Democrats don’t resign until they are at the jailhouse door. And that only happens if they go against the “party”.
Look at Traficant.

Are you guys serious? What is your reasoning to argue that he was guilty of corruption? If any of you had done any research about him it becomes clear that he was impeached on the basis of dubious evidence to say the least. Which was why he wasn’t convicted of the underlying crime.
Additionally — one minor problem with his conviction, he wasn’t impeached by the entire senate only the Judicial Subcommittee, and even when the subcommittee impeached him it wasn’t by 2/3 majority, but instead was a simple majority. And Arlen Spector voted across party lines not to impeach.
Also are you really saying that the Democrats are the cause of gerrymandering. Gerrymandering is an action that crosses political lines, but the most abusive gerrymandering in recent history was a result of the Republicans in Texas.
Seriously, there are a lot of flaws you can accuse the democrats of, but stick with the substantive ones for a change rather than going with the non-substantive ones.

pinko,
We can argue that he was guilty of corruption because he was impeached for corruption and perjury by a Democratic controlled house by a vote of 413-3. Further, he was convicted by the Senate by a vote of 69-26 (on the first article of impeachment). Last I checked, 69 votes is more than a 2/3 majority. Also, he was convicted on 8 of 11 articles of impeachment that were voted on.
Your facts are wrong and your attempt to spin this has failed miserably. This guy was, and probably still is, a crook.
