Thompson Still Rising?

According to anecdotal evidence at NRO’s The Corner, Thompson is starting to really wow them in South Carolina. We’ll know soon whether this is real, or just clever spin from the Thompson campaign.

This is no spin I can assure you. Thompson has been packing the places he visites and has been turning people away. A friend of mine who went to a Thompson event says the very same thing. Thompson will win South Carolina dispite what polls say and give himself new life in this GOP race.

David Aulds,
He does seem to be doing well - but the proof, as they say, is in the pudding…once the votes are counted, we’ll know exactly how real this thing is.

He trails Ron Paul in Florida, but is gaining. I must say, with the exception of Ron Paul, I feel Thompson is only Repug who has looked me in the eye and not lied; but I will have to concede he does have some good acting skills.

If you’re simply looking for the guy with the fewest and least significant negatives, then Thompson’s probably your guy. I’ve always liked Fred, but I’m not sure that’s the way to pick a candidate.
I hope all the current GOP candidates are able to stay in until Feb. 5th, and then we’ll see who’s still standing after that. It’s a shame we can’t take the best attributes of each of the top 5 (heck, even the top 6 — Paul has some good ideas about Constitutionally oriented, less intrusive government) and combine them into one Super Candidate. You combine the best attributes of the remaining Dem candidates, and you still get zip, unless keeping abortion legal, paying higher taxes and leaving the Middle East in chaos are high on your list of priorities; then I guess you win the Trifecta.
