Mark, your top two choices mirror my own; I just can’t seem to decide in which order to put them. Hopefully, as the primary campaign progresses, the choice will become clearer.

Mitt Romney is the John Kerry of the Republican party.

Mitt Romney is the John Kerry of the Republican party.
That’s an interesting comparison, Brian. What are some of the things that Senator Kerry has accomplished that would be similar or equal to what Mitt Romney has accomplished?

Spook,
While - in terms of achievement - Kerry couldn’t hold a candle to Romney, they do share one thing in common: they’re both highly unelectable.
Check out the RCP averages for yourself: Romney loses to Clinton by 9 points and to Obama by a whopping 20 points!
Do you know which Republican candidate is the only one who beats both Clinton and Obama? John McCain.
It’s time to put the ideological squabble aside. We may not all agree on everything McCain has done or stands for, but we have to put electability on the top of our priority list.
If the Democrats win in November, the Republicans are doomed to be the minority party for quite a while to come - and you can forget about getting a conservative to the White House in the near future.

Since it appears you were picking based on record, here’s the order from most conservative to least conservative, based on the candidate’s record:
Thompson
McCain
Huckabee
Giuliani
Romney
And this is the order they are based on what they are saying so they can get your vote:
Romney
Thompson
McCain
Giuliani
Huckabee
Hmmmmm, there must be a reason a huge portion of the electorate, according to the exit polls, don’t believe a word Romney says.
As for comparing Thompson to the great communicator, I only consider him second best at the ability of Reagan in that regard, I really think Huckabee is far better than Thompson in Reagan’s ability there.

I don’t know why “a huge portion of the electorate, according to the exit polls, don’t believe a word Romney says.”
Gee… ya think he was pandering? The guy is the biggest phony ever.

Brian & Doug,
Thank you for echoeing the MSM and their transparent plea to conservatives on who to vote for.
Romney has by far, more experience than any other Republican candidate and dwarfs the experience of either Obama or Clinton. He is articulate, carrys himself well and would destroy either of the Democrats in a debate.
Your support of McCain is duly noted.

Joe,
Your business skills are a bit suspicious.
10. Doug | January 17th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Neocon,
Yes he could destroy either of the democrats in a debate, he could probably do good against anyone in a debate, that’s what happens when you don’t place limitations on your own positions. He could be a better President for gay rights than Ted Kennedy, he could be a more staunch social conservative than Mike Huckabee. He could raise hundreds of millions of dollars in extra taxes and fees to provide $50 abortions for anyone who wants them, or he could be the one in the debate who is the most fiscally conservative candidate. Against Obama he could tell the people that Obama is bringing up the Specter of Ronald Reagan, while Mitt is for the middle class because he doesn’t espouse the policies of Reagan and Bush - or against Hillary Mitt could be the one that is molded in the tradition of Reagan.
If he’s debating in the NE, he could be the most ardent opponent of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, yet if they debate down South he’ll be the most ardent supporter of it. Howabout the beauty today, the lobbyist isn’t really running his campaign - he’s just a senior advisor. Slick Willie could win any debate as well, slick Mitt can to. Mitt’s in a unique position to also be able to either support or oppose fetal stem cell abortion, immigration, the list goes on and on …. yes he’s clean cut, articulate, and carries himself well - so does Obama - maybe we should just vote for Obama, at least we know where he stands.

Neocon,
I simply showed everyone the poll averages from RCP, but somehow I’m “echoing the MSM”?
I think you need to take a look at the far-left sites, because they are NOT rooting for McCain. They WANT you to vote for Romney. Didn’t you see the “Democrats for Romney” campaign in Michigan? Did you not see the Daily Kos urging Michigan Democrats to vote for Romney?
The far-left knows that he and Huckabee would be the two easiest candidates to beat. If you vote for Romney, you will simply be an enabler to the Democrats’ victory in November.

Romney vs. the empty suit, junior senator with no experience from Illinois, or the wife of a former President with no real world experience or executive experience. And Romney has actually implemented a universal health care plan.
I will take that chance all day, every day.
13. neocon | January 18th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
Doug,
If you weren’t so full of bs and half truths I might actually respond to you. Unfortunately your perceived knowledge on Romney is just more empty rhetoric.
14. Joe | January 18th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
Romney vs. the empty suit, junior senator with no experience from Illinois
So is your problem that he is a “junior senator”? Or is the problem of his experience? I think we’ve already been thru the “experience” thing and you’ve never been able to say how much “experience” is enough to satisfy you.
Also neocon, saying that someone is full of bs so you won’t respond to them is like taking your ball and going home when you can’t get your way. Stop being a crybaby.
