A Fearsome Anger Captain Ed Endorses Romney

Ted Kennedy to Endorse Obama

January 27th, 2008 at 12:33pm Mark Noonan

The news:

ABC News’ Rick Klein Reports: Senator Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., will endorse Barack Obama’s presidential bid on Monday in Washington, a source close to Kennedy tells ABC News.

The endorsement gives Obama a boost in the eyes of the Washington establishment, and comes after some prominent Democrats criticized Senator Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and former president Bill Clinton for their campaign tactics before Obama’s landslide victory in South Carolina.

Question: does gaining the endorsement of a bloated, old-line liberal help or hinder Obama?

I’m sure glad you aren’t a hater, or you might have said something nasty. LOL

I do believe this is a good endorsement for Obama. Regardless of how you feel, there are a lot of democrats that respect Senator Kennedy. It might give a few more people reason to support Obama over Clinton.

    How very Christian of you.

Spare us the dogma. Your hate displays itself.

    Spare us the hypocrisy.

It certainly does help Obama. This Lion of Liberalism will undoubtedly convince some blue collar/non-college educated liberals to move from Clinton to Obama. It will certainly help Obama in Mass, where both senators support Obama. Mass is a super tuesday state right?

  • 4. Jeremiah  |  January 27th, 2008 at 1:15 pm

I would say it helps Obama. They’re one of akind.
They’re both pro-choice a.k.a anti-Life. So, in that regard, they both need help.

That didn’t take long, did it? Lol! I guess if it wasn’t so funny it’d be a little tragic.

It certainly helps him in Massachusetts. Much of the world laughs at Fat Ted, and rightly so. But here in MA, when Kennedy babbles liberals pay attention.

Wow! This will deliver the drunken syphillitic vote to Obama!!

We are talking about an actual inherited wealth, kicked out of Harvard for cheating, old, fat, womanizing, binge drinker who killed a date years ago… right?

    Is that hate?

  • 9. Kahn  |  January 27th, 2008 at 3:38 pm

I wish I had a wandering moral compass like the liberals do.

Don’t kill serial murderers, but kill unborn babies.

It’s OK to kill your date, IF you vote liberal.

It’s OK to be a former Klan member (and still have evidence you supported tham after leaving), IF you vote liberal.

It’s OK to lie under oath, IF you support liberal causes.

It’s OK to sexually harass women in the workplace, IF you support liberal causes.

It’s OK to limit blacks power and to keep as few as possible on your staff, IF you say you are for them and keep the welfare dollars coming.

It’s OK to pack a gun into Washington DC and into Congress, IF you are an anti-war Democrat.

It’s OK to attack gays, IF they are Republican.

It’s Ok to call people making over $150 K a year “rich” and tax the crap out of them, so long as you don’t point out the obscene amount of money in Hollywood, the Press, and professional sports.

Jeez - this is just off the top of my head. What am I missing?

    Any I missed?

  • 10. Bigfoot  |  January 27th, 2008 at 3:54 pm

Kahn, you did miss something. It’s OK to recommend wind turbines as a new energy source, so we can cut down on our fossil fuel consumption, unless those wind turbines would be in the yachting area of rich leftwingers, such as the aforementioned Ted Kennedy and his family.

It’s OK to be a former Klan member (and still have evidence you supported tham after leaving), IF you vote liberal.

And as a bonus, you get to use the N-word on the Senate floor, with few if any complaints from the black descendants of the Klan’s victims.

When someone brings up something similar about President Bush, he or she is accused of having BDS. Is that hate?

Personally, I would consider both as examples of hate.

Kahn: We are talking about an actual inherited wealth, kicked out of Harvard for cheating, old, fat, womanizing, binge drinker who killed a date years ago… right?

I’d say that’s a fairly accurate statement of some of the facts, yes. But unless you truly believe your characterization is a fair appraisal of the “highlights” of his entire career, then I think it is also fair to suggest that you are essentially stating a half-truth. And as Mark said in a previous post, half truths are tantamount to lies.

More to the point though, and for whatever reason, I understand that Ted Kennedy is generally considered one of the — if not THE –quintessential icon of the Democratic establishment. So in that respect I guess Kennedy’s endorsement of Obama carries some weight. Interestingly, JFK’s daughter Caroline also endorsed Obama today. In fact, Obama has picked up a number of relatively high profile “establishment democrats”. If Hillary gets the nomination (and ultimately gets elected), one wonders what kind of blow-back there will be. In the mean time, one wonders how much help all his endorsements from “establishment democrats” are to his presumed message of change. It seems a little counter-intuitive on the face of it. But then again, Democratic politics are an enigma to me.

Do you liberals even know what hate is? Perhaps not - only people who don’t hate can actually see it for what it is.

    That is rather sad…

  • 15. Michael  |  January 27th, 2008 at 4:46 pm

Kennedy’s endorsement by itself will be of little consequence to Obama other than to fan the flames of the “Obama is the next JFK” and to act as an indicator of who thinks Obama can beat the Hildebeast. Something’s brewing here and what it is ain’t exactly claer, but Obams seems to be rising as the old hag sinks.

You forgot using daddy’s influence so that Private Kennedy could stay out or Korea! He conveniently got a post in Europe thanks to daddy. Note: he only served two of the four years for which he enlisted.

Barack needs Kennedy to keep his mouth shut. He would not want Kennedy to ramble on in a drunken stupor for such phrases as: “Do we operate under a system of equal justice under law? Or is there one system for the average citizen and another for the high and mighty?” - said on the senate floor during Watergate in 1973.

How that for “hate”? Since when is repeating FACTS, hate?

Back on topic: I think this endorsement will help. To many hardline liberals that believe anything this disgrace to the Kennedy’s name says.

didnt the fat drunk, adulterer’s father get his money from running illegal alcohol?
Much like the current drug kingpins now in Columbia.
It seems “osama obama” is picking up the “cream” of the crop endorsements. kerry, kennedy, whats next ole screwie louie?

Obama is an empty suit the dems all know that, they fear the klintoon machine, and know they if are elected will destroy anything left of the party. They know obama is a fly weight and will be easily manipulated.
Teddys nod to him is a shot across the democrat bow to run from the klintoons. Bill is giving us the full monty of a hitlery presidency, and not many like what they see.

    SEW and Kahn,

    What I said was:

“When someone brings up something similar about President Bush, he or she is accused of having BDS. Is that hate?”

I’m not a fan of either Kennedy or Bush. I have no desire to attack or defend either one.

  • 23. SEW  |  January 27th, 2008 at 6:26 pm

FrmMarine, Be fair, Ted knew it was Hussein Obama, not Osama. He just slipped. Awesome that Barack has Francois also supporting him. What became of Francois’ lawsuit against the Swiftboat Vets for Truth? Oh yea, he didn’t file it. Discovery would be like so unfair if he also had to produce facts. And what became of a full release of his military record to prove the Swiftboaters liars? Has FatAl announced yet?

So far the Clintons are doing OK. I will give them the credit deserved for not being endorsed by the Dem Party elite.

  • 24. Kahn  |  January 27th, 2008 at 7:21 pm

Something similar to killing a date or KKK membership?

  • 25. phnx  |  January 27th, 2008 at 8:16 pm

We on the right might not like him, but many on the left respect the guy (Lord knows why). This is a big deal as it will help Obama close the national gap between Hillary and Obama.

The good thing for Republicans is that it helps to burn the campaign war chest that Hillary has amassed.

The other good thing is that this shows the divisions in the Democrat party. This smacks of a revolt against Bill and Hillary’s claim on the party leadership.

  • 26. SEW  |  January 27th, 2008 at 8:38 pm

I’ll second that. And good riddance.

Very pleased Ted is taking sides with his friend, what’s his name?

  • 27. js  |  January 27th, 2008 at 9:02 pm

Would you put your kids in Obama’s hands?

Not me. I dont think he has my kids interest in mind. He will try to make me think so, but his words are hollow, his passion is lust is for power and seeks false trust.

A shadow in the sunlight that blinds me with confusion, a drink of water that is bitter for its polution.

  • 28. SEW  |  January 27th, 2008 at 9:10 pm

“I ask that all who disagree with the moderators of this blog and obviously will not get a chance to post, hereby boycott this rag.” ThomasEdison

This is by far the best idea a liberal has presented on BFV, ever. And I am in agreement 100%. However I remember the idea of moving to Canada if GWB was reelected. Unfortunately that didn’t turn out very well.

Ted Kennedy and Francois endorsements. Maybe OBL, Ted, not to be confused with Barack, will come out of his cave and make his endorsement as he did in the 04 election! And Hugo!

  • 29. Jay Gaultieri  |  January 27th, 2008 at 9:57 pm

Ted’s endorsement may not mean much to Obama, but it means a lot to Kennedy. Obama is riding a wave of discontent that’s been building for years. Ted hitches his cart to Obama and keeps himself relevant. Hillary runs on a message of inevitability that she is going to get the nomination and the public had better get used to it. That message worked for Bush back in 2000 but it seems to be failing Hillary at the moment because she represents the status quo that the public doesn’t like. That leaves her base of middle-aged white bread suburban women who like her because she’s a woman.

Obama has the young, increasingly the old, the Blacks, and increasingly the men. Far from the comments here about “Obama is an empty suit” an Obama nomination is a thing the Republican Party should fear.

  • 30. Kahn  |  January 27th, 2008 at 11:25 pm

    1. Brett, your post describes a felony in my state. And Mark can get your IP address simply enough.

    2. Ted Kennedy is a big drunken ass. BUT as much as I disagree with Obama on issue after issue, I respect him. I know he’s been lazy about voting both as a state senator and as a US senator. I know he has some shadows in his closet. But come on. He gave Reagan and the Republicans credit for being the party of ideas.

Maybe he really could change things? I doubt it. Not with the current leadership in Congress. But Bush couldn’t change things either. It’s the Hill that needs to change (including some people with an R behind their names). He is much much much better than Edwards or Clinton.

I would say that bigotry within the Democrat Party would be the ONLY reason if he is not chosen as candidate.

  • 31. Mark Noonan  |  January 28th, 2008 at 12:11 am

    Kahn,

I think that Obama is the only Democrat who can beat us in 2008 - not that this would be a sure thing, but he’s the only Democrat capable of extending his reach beyond the kook left base of the Democratic party. Now, once Obama is forced to defend his ultra-liberal positions, it will become very difficult for him to win - but not impossible; he’s so well spoken and such a likable person that he could carry the day just on that, alone.

  • 32. Ken  |  January 28th, 2008 at 2:02 am

Any word from Mary Jo Kopechne? Oh yeah… a Republican was not behind the wheel so it must be a non-issue…

Another assinine comment. Again, this sure sounds like it is just your OPINION and nothing about any fact. But hey… if you say it enough, maybe people will start to believe it.

    George W. Bush:
“See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda.”

You disgusting Repubs are getting better. This actually took 3 hours to get the first Mary Jo Kopechne mention.

    You people are disgusting.

  • 34. SEW  |  January 28th, 2008 at 11:35 am

Hey Joe, the Repubs didn’t kill her! Teddy did. Still in Congress, as is your KKK bud.

  • 35. phnx  |  January 28th, 2008 at 3:57 pm

    This is great…

The National Organization for Women (fondly know in conservative circles as the NAGS, National Association of Gals) has issued a press release condemning the Ted Kennedy endorsement as “the ultimate betrayal of women!!!”

They are planning to burn their bras in protest at Kennedy’s Boston office on Valentine’s Day.

Just kidding about the last part, but don’t you just love it “When Leftists Collide”? Say that could be the title of a new series of cartoons.

  • 36. js  |  January 29th, 2008 at 11:28 am

    33. Joe

You should really quit trying to strain your brain for this stuff joyboy.

If all you have is jests and jousts, without a single solitary word about reality, then all your work to post a responce to me is just a waste of time anyhow.

And btw; its not an opinion, these are nothing more than direct observations.
