    Who won? Good question.

I still favor Romney but I would have liked to have seen a better performance on his part tonight. Huckabee did well, but a little too late for him, McCain seems now to have the attitude that he is the inevitable candidate, and I still hit the mute button when Paul speaks.

Romney is right when he says that in order to remain the world power, we must have a strong economy and must have strategies to compete with China, India and Russia. The economy and Americas ingenuity are the roots of our power and Romney is still the one with the best experience to take us to the next level.

Florida is a big retirement state.

Lots of old timers, McCain was a shoe in.

War Hero and all that. Just makes sense.

I thought Romney won hands down. McCain looked old, silly, uninformed and, most of all, came off as he really is, a petty mean-spirited liar.

Sara, if Romney wore a beanie cap and whistled dixie the whole time you’d say he won. Huckabee did the best, again, not that it matters much but he is far and away the most personable, likeable, and easiest to identify with candidate on the stage in these debates. If only Romney was like Huckabee in this regard he would have cleaned up the nomination. As it is he has a few more days then he’s done, can’t keep throwing good money after bad.

The sad thing is that Romney and Mccain just can’t seem to get along. They would make a great ticket.

I will agree that McCain did not have a very good debate. He is falling Rudy’s problem of bringing his strongstuits into every answer, even when its not applicable. He gave Romney a big opening, but Mittens didn’t connect.

Ugh- the New York Times just tanked the Clintons ala BORATGATE- She’s toast. Nice of them to wait until the day Edwards dropped out to hand the nomination to Obama. What duschbags.

Romney won this debate by far. Mccain is desperate even if he the media covers for him and makes it look like he’s not. Before the crist announcment Romney had Florida locked up now we hear that Gov Arnold will endorse Mccain California. Governors ought to remain neutral and let the winner be the winner. The most telling thing is Mccain needs these endorsments. Romney doesn’t!!!

Did Romney have his earpiece in?

  • 11. Brian  |  January 31st, 2008 at 12:15 pm

The real answer: It doesn’t matter. This debate changed nothing.

Huckabee. I’m for McCain, and I was extremely disheartened by his obvious (and quite pathetic) hard turn to the right. Don’t be afraid to be who you are, John! Moderation is a GOOD thing, especially when your average voter is still furious at the Republican party (and with good reason, may I add). You still can’t say that Romney won, however, because whenever he talks, it is always an infuriating few minutes of the same old crap.

The only ticket I’d support with McLame on top.

WTF? Hard turn to the right? McLame/Reingold? McLame/Kennedrunk? McLame/Lieberman?

…especially when your average voter is still furious at the Republican party (and with good reason, may I add).

I think your average voter–limp-noodle moderate–is a bit out of touch with why the base is angry with the GOP. And McLame ain’t the answer; he’s Hilbama-lite…
