Ash Wednesday

“Dust thou art, and into dust thou shalt return.” Gn. 3:19
Its the Lenten season for us Christians as we prepare for Easter. For me, this will involve a lot of things spiritual, but on this Wednesday it will be to abstain and to fast; no meat, and not a lot of food in any case. I bring this up as part of our general desire at Blogs for Victory to point out that life goes on - and also to advise Matt that on Thursday I can have all the steak I want.
UPDATE, by Matt Margolis: Sure… you can have all the steak you want, but I’m only buying you one meal buddy :-D

The trouble with Ash Wednesday and Fridays in Lent is that we still get to eat seafood - which I thoroughly enjoy. I’ll have to find my self-denial somewhere else.
When I was a kid, we had to give up candy, gum and soda for Lent, every day except Sunday. This was before we hit age 14, when the fast and abstinence requirements kick in. I can still remember those nuns making us repeat “candy, gum and pop”.

Pray for peace during lent, but prepare for war.
Happy AW day
