Republicans (Temporarily) for Hillary, ‘08
February 12th, 2008 at 12:29pm Mark Noonan
Heh:
… today, we both voted for Hillary in the VA primary. Why? Because it seems McCain has it wrapped up, so why waste our vote on the Republican side; she is a lot less scary than Obama in many ways (better the Devil you know), and I think she is more easily beaten with her high negatives and lack of charisma. So we were part of the high Dem turn out today which I am sure you will hear about. And there is no way we will ever vote Dem in November.
We live in a highly conservative precinct. I saw many folks today picking up the Democratic ballot also. I think my wife and I were far from alone in our thinking.
Go, Hillary, GO!

Of course, that sort of tactic totally subverts democracy, but I gather that isn’t an issue here.

Hey isn’t this what I was suggesting Matt and Mark should encourage? Seriously you guys could take this and run with it. Hit the airwaves and try and get Republicans to vote for Hillary in the open primary states. As close as they are in delegates this only makes sense. Remember they started this slash and burn crap by trying to promote Romney in Michigan so turn about is fair play. There is plenty of time between now and the next set of primaries so you could actually get something done. Just giving Hillary a few extra percentage points in Texas and Ohio can keep Obama from ending this thing, and will ensure a huge circular firing squad at the convention. Officially endorse Hillary and I bet you get into the news cycle. Heck make some calls, and I bet you could make it onto Hannity and Colmes. get some t-shirts, have fun with it. Of course you’ll have to give me credit.

Searp- Go to dailykos and type in Dems for Mitt. People that live in glass houses and all.

Thank God most people think more of our democracy.
It isn’t that I am afraid of people doing this, it is that anyone, Democrat or Republican, would think that this is a good thing to do. I think some people need a remedial civics class.

Rich: you seem to think I approve of something that I think is really, really bad. You are wrong. I disapprove, completely, Democrat or Republican

Actually Searp, please explain how voting for one candidate over another in an open primary is wrong? If a person believes, as I do, that Obama has no clue on foreign policy, (ie talk to Iran, bomb Pakistan) and that Clinton would be tougher on terrorism, why should that person not have the right to vote in an open primary and voice their opinion. You are using your vote how you choose to. The fact that I and others believe Clinton has less of a chance at winning the presidency is icing on the cake. Nowhere in my post did I claim or insinuate that you approved of something. If so, please point it out to me. I was merely showing that there was precedent for this action, and that Democrats cannot cry foul after they have already advocated and participated in this type of action.
On a side note, I teach a remedial civics class, and trust me, todays kids aren’t paying attention any more than when we did when we were in school. They claim to love Obama, but almost none of them have registered to vote, even when offered a ton of extra credit. The ones that are registered will most likey not vote. Apathetic youth. Obama is counting on them, I think he will be sorry.

searp,
wait for it……………..USELESS IDIOT!
you are ignorant of our form of government. What form of government do we truly have. I’ll leave it at that and wait for you to respond with the correct answer, which I highly doubt you’ll get.
OK…….I await your words of wisdom in this manner………bwahahahahahahahahah!

I am a Michigan Democrat.
I voted against Dubya in 2000 by voting for McCain.
If I had been successful in swaying the republican vote;
There would have never been a President G W Bush.
Never been National Security Advisor Rice.
9/11 would have been thwarted.
No invasion of Iraq.
On, and on, and on, and on.

“No invasion of Iraq.”
I’ll give you that one because libs would still continue their laid-back efforts to fight terrorism as we saw in the 90’s that gave us the 1st WTC, Somalia, Khobar Towers, USS Cole, and many others.
We responded by bombing empty camps and an aspirin factory.
With a record like that who needs success?

I dont see how undermining the enemy camp is immoral.
Truth is, Hillary is easier to defeat. Obama will divide this nation racially and religiously. Its really better to eliminate Obama as best we can, before its inevitable.

js: Its really better to eliminate Obama as best we can, before its inevitable.
If so, apparently the troops on the ground didn’t get the memo: Seven percent of the voters in that contest were Republican voters who decided not to vote in their own party’s primary – they chose Obama by an even larger margin, 71 to 25 percent over Clinton.
13. Joe | February 13th, 2008 at 9:50 am
js,
exactly how will Obama divide the country religiously?

that’s hilarious — and it didn’t dent barack’s win which shows how strong he is these days
