Why Ron Paul Abandoned His Presidential Bid

February 13th, 2008 at 04:49am Matt Margolis

A few days ago, we reported that Ron Paul had said “Adios!” to his presidential campaign. Robert Stacy McCain suggested in his blog post about the news that Paul supporters had “been misled and exploited,” since Paul can use the millions he raised in his presidential bid towards his reelection campaign.

Well, I’ve found out that Ron Paul actually needs those millions of dollars to save his House seat. See, Ron Paul is facing a primary challenge against Chris Peden, and things are actually looking very good for Peden.

Republican sources tell me that an internal poll from the Ron Paul camp shows Peden leading over Paul 43% to 32%. In addition to that, a generic poll from the National Strategy Group shows that 67% of Republican voters in TX-14 overwhelmingly want a Republican other than Ron Paul representing them.

The bottom line: These polls are the reason Ron Paul abandoned his presidential bid. Just as Dennis Kucinich abandoned his go-nowhere campaign for the presidency in order to fight for his seat in competitive primary.

UPDATE: Pajamas Media discovers similar data… interviews Peden.

Kucinich in a battle? Wow, not in the kook-infested Cleveland, OH area. Who could they find kookier than Dennis?

Ron Paul needs to go; he’s an isolationist and a kook…

    he’s an isolationist…/

Translation: he does not want to invade other countries and kill people.

And what’s with the spammy posts above (posts 2 & 3)?

    Mr. Margollis,

You have presented and or posted a dishonest overview of Ron Paul. So allow me to break it down.

    1) You imply that Paul can use his millions he raised in his presidential bid towards his reelection campaign This is a false statement and here is why. The FEC and other campaign election laws prohibit Ron Paul from use of his funds to the presidential race to be used for his congressional run. If you had taken even a quick moment to visit his congressional campaign website you would see he has raised separate funds.

    2) Chris Peden, has praised Ron Paul over and over. He even stated he would not run against the good Dr in fact Chis has in effect kinda hung himself with raving reviews of Paul.

    3) Chris has presented many lies which have been challenged of recent and even his attack ads are dishonest.

    4) Since you have presented dishonest information on other issues you need to provide a link to your source information as proof of 43% vs. 32%. By they way you have left out intentionally even stated that Ron Paul is a republican and you imply that the people want a republican. But what you failed to point out is that Paul has won his seat as a republican over and over and over.

    5) Ron Paul has not abandoned his presidential bid and if you had taken the time to visit Ron Paul’s blog at ronpaul2008.com you could read and view a youTUBE clip which proves Ron is very much in the race and his numbers are improving even with the MSM black out.

To summarize the facts… Matt you have offered disinformation to your readers and we are tired of the lies of the MSM but can’t an independent blog source get the story straight?

More FUD from some retarded blog. That is the trouble with blogs — anyone can post anything whether it’s true or not.

1 - Ron Paul did NOT abandon his bid for the presidency.

2 - The word Isolationism is not being used in the correct context. Ron Paul is not an isolationist.

3 - Ron is simultaneiously running for his Congressional seat in Texas where he is loved.

Keefer could you not post anything more intelligent to back up your wild claims?

    YOU are the kook here.

The irrelevancy of some of the blogs one encounters is quite amusing, and this one certainly epitomizes that fact.

The most significant reason being is that the author, in the overall scheme of things in creation, is without class or stature sufficient to be noticed by those who would consider his/her commentary as being useful or worthy of consideration.

In other words, your words are to be dismissed as would be the utterances of a creature which swims and feeds on the bottom of the deepest aquatic mass.

The delusional state of some Paul supporters is truly breathtaking; they must live in a parallel universe, where all of the spammed polls are true, and their hero wears a red S on his chest, and where somehow the entire world, democrat, republican and other are conspiring together to make Ron Paul look like a fool.

  • 9. Hope for America  |  February 13th, 2008 at 7:50 am

This post is a lie. Ron Paul has announced that he is in the fight to the end. With Romney out of the picture and only three candidates left there is new opportunity. Especially for a true leader like Ron Paul.

He is the only qualified candidate for the Presidency.

Paul transcends Republican or Democratic Party ideology. He advocates an authentic American ideology and is more loyal to our country than traitors like McCain and Clinton.

We need to bring our troops home and expose the truth of the American Reichstag burning.

America demands an end to NeoCon hegemony. If we don’t act now our country will be under the thumb of a fascist repression that is justified by a false war against alleged Islamofascists. But Bin Laden is just a strawman like Saddam’s WMD. Where is Osama Bin Laden? Does he even exist? I’m not saying that Bin Laden never existed, but question if he still exists. Do we really know everything that we should about this alleged terrorist? He is a freedom fighter to Muslims and a terrorist to us. That is so racist. We have to open up the debate and ask some hard questions. Bin Laden was a stooge of the U.S. during the Afghan War (funded by ContraGate) so it isn’t too inconceivable that if he is still alive he could still be working for his former handlers. The evidence of the controlled demolition of the WTC lends credence to the possibility that our government used Bin Laden in order to justify their criminal wars. The biggest unanswerable question is, Where is Osama Bin Laden? Emperor Bush cannot or will not answer that question and we have to ask why in order to find the real truth.

Here on the domestic front the government is using this fake war to pry into our lives and we have to stop them before the process is irreversible. It is a slippery slope from Democracy to Dictatorship. We have to act now because President Bush is trying to lay the foundation to rule behind the scenes after he steps down from office. His shadow government will be in full control of his puppets, John McCain or Hillary Clinton, so that Bush will continue to be the real power long after we think he is gone.

McCain and Clinton are blinded by their fanatical adherence to the terrorist cabal of the Bush Regime. Vote for Democracy. Vote for Ron Paul!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even if Paul “misled and exploited” his supporters, who cares? His supporters are more obnoxious than LSU football fans. In fact they are almost as bad as the liberal trolls on BFV, except Paul does have some good points. It’s simply difficult to look at him when his supporters remind one of Dennis Kucinich.

    Michael McKee,

Thank you for setting the record straight. Will you please let us know from now on who, and who is not worthy of voicing their opinion? I so look forward to when people like you run this country, that way I wont have to waste my time reading unapproved information.

    >>America demands an end to NeoCon hegemony. - Hope<<

Do you realize that pure hegemony requires some amount of consent from the subordinates? So if in fact, hegemony is your concern, you are culpable.

And it is nice to see the five people, that comprise the Ron Paul base speak their minds. You might want to check with Micheal fro preapproval before hand though. Let’s adhere to that next time shall we?

Amazing, if you say something about Ron Paul that his believers don’t like - you get spammed comments (2 & 3) and you get long diatribes about how it is not true. Um guys - get a life. RP never really had a chance because he does not represent the majority of Republicans, let alone Americans.

  • 13. 4Freedom  |  February 13th, 2008 at 10:39 am

Welcome to the “more lies and disinformation” club. You obviously have well thought out and researched the facts, as anyone who does will know you’ve presented exactly the opposite of what’s really going on. Also, should Ron Paul NOT be the nominee, and I admit it is looking less likely, the Revolution will continue. Why you’d almost think by your disinformation that you were being funded to present this schmear! Hopefully you don’t call yourself a journalist as you’d be doing an injustice to that profession. Darel and “The first Paul Girl” have it right!

  • 14. badmedia  |  February 13th, 2008 at 12:43 pm

Meh, none of the article is true. Guess that is to be expected considering the former name of the blog.

It’s bad enough you guys think they hate us for our freedoms. But then you same people go and give up your freedoms, then act tough and strong. HELLO, you just surrendered and gave them what they wanted.

Whats next, islamo “fascism”. Do you even know what fascism is? It’s corporate control of the government. Where corporate interests are put ahead of the people. That is the definition of fascism. So, where are these islamic companies trying to run the world? We have the fascism here.

Of course, maybe if you weren’t quick to point fingers this would be obvious to you. But please, don’t let a little thing like common sense stop you from doing the stupidity.

Maybe they are right, I guess if you can’t think for yourself and act like cattle, you should be treated by cattle. Especially when you have people actively asking for it.

Wanna know a secret? There are 2 question to every issue. #1 is who should get control of the issue, you the person, or the government. #2 is what should be done. Both sides keep question #1 silent, because they agree they should be in control, not you. After that, it’s just a matter of arguing over who gets the benefits, and what kind of political argument they can make, and how to best word it based on the polls.

But good luck in the election with your 100 yrs of war, in favor of amnesty nomination. Only 80% of the country are against these things. You guys sure know how to pick a winner lol.

I expect to see a correction by your people informing the public that Paul has in fact NOT abandoned the Presidential race.

    Thank you.

  • 16. Michael McKee  |  February 14th, 2008 at 7:32 am

Well now! Apparently we have heard from another of the self-appointed opinionated darlings of the disenfranchised and the movers and shakers of lala land who is attempting to offer his own irrelevant rendition of why anyone who vehemently disagrees with them, are really going to be in trouble.

Once the country is removed from the hands of those who are, in actuality, trying to steer this ship toward chaotic death and destruction, we will not have need of anyone to guide us further. We will then have no reason to hear the drone of nothingness which emanates from the brains of the unenlightened.

We will certainly have little need of mental pygmies who see in the mirror greater wisdom than mankind has yet offered. Of course, we will need to be given a permission slip to make sure we do not stray from the approved text.

  • 17. Joseph Penney  |  February 15th, 2008 at 8:30 am

    badmedia,

Wow, 80% are against McCain? So only 20% of the population support him? That is pretty sad, how on earth could he be a viable candidate with that little support. Man, the only think I could think of that would be worse is if he had something more like 6% support… but then, who would even bother running for office with only 6% support…….oh…..wait…..right.
