It’s representative of where people are at after the Bush debacle. People are that desperate for change that they are prepared to take a risk with Obama.
Where’s Bush up to again? 19% approval? What a disgrace.
2. Obama2008 | February 20th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Deleted - usual bogus litany of lies about President Bush…and the thread is about Obama’s accomplishments (or lack thereof), not about President Bush.
3. SEW | February 20th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
Bush is running for a 3rd term? Awesome.
4. neocon | February 20th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
The mindless, brainwashed, propaganda spewing liberals, like bongoman and Obama2008 now can not discern the difference between a motivational speaker and an experienced leader, much like they can not discern the difference between reality and what their masters feed their little minds.
Stupidity on a scale I have never seen before.
5. Obama2008 | February 20th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Neocon:
You cannot discern what most people consider reality and the alternate fantasy world where Bush is somehow a successful president.
6. sleepygene | February 20th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
I watched this guy last night and he is a real boob. It shows a big error on the Obama campaign’s part of not having a good representative on the TV for them. His legilative accomplishments are limited, because he has not been around as long as is needed to generate such great legislation like McCain-Feingold or McCain- Kennedy.
Neocon is right. Obama will have to prove he is a leader and not just a motivational speaker. I think once he goes toe to toe with McCain you will see his leadership talents shine brighly.
7. bongoman | February 20th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
SEW, Bush may not be running for a third term, but the GOP electoral prospects surely have been damaged by him.
So cut the snarky nit-picking and face the fact that there will be blowback for the GOP come November. Is that too difficult to comprehend?
8. felix the cat | February 20th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Yep. Some unknown State Senator from Texas (no less) is suddenly given command and control to refute the entire Obama campaign because he was ambushed by Chris Mathews and fainted in the glare of the kleig lights.
No accomplishments? How about his being the front runner. And having more votes than his Republican challenger. Accomplishments indeed.
You Bushbots are pathetic.
Try to rationalize the latest bit of gossip. John McCain being romaticaly involved with a lobbiest 30 years his junior. I say, good for him! Nothing wrong with an old guy trying to get laid but I must admitt John’s wife is hot. Maybe she’s got something going herself. Can’t say that I wouldn’t blame her….

Obama2008,
I can take anyone of your baseless talking points in #2 post and reveal your complete ignorance.
Ex: Ken Lay and Enron - the debacle that was Enron happened on Clintons watch because he wasn’t paying attention to corporate fraud. Lay and Skilling were prosecuted, found guilty and sentenced under the Bush Administration.
Dubai Ports Deal - Do a little research on the connection between Bill Clinton and Dubai and then read the following link if you can stomach it.

Neocon:
Oh, you pulled out the “It’s Clinton’s Fault” line.
That was fast.
You can also use the “Clinton did it too!” excuse to absolve you Dear Leader of a few more things……
Are you going to use the above excuses 10 years from now? 20 years? After Clinton is six feet under?
11. Kahn | February 20th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Obama2008 - ?????
Some of those failures and scadals are pretty stupid. Examples?
“Enron.” The bulk of the fraud took place under Clinton and was exposed under Bush.
“Colin Powell’s fabricated UN speech” Fabricated? You’ve got proof of intentional lies? Really? Can you point to some?
“No Child Left Behind” You mean that bill Ted Kennedy sponsored designed to keep minority children from being left behind?
“Warrantless NSA wiretapping” So, the military needs a warrant tp intercept enemy military communications? I wonder if they got arrest warrants for all those Germans on D-Day?
Really - all you’ve proven is that you have Bush Derangement Syndrome and you’re willing to vote for someone with no accomplishments and no stated positions because of it.
You HATE - we get it. We just reject you. I was going to say your positions, but I think it’s really you. Your “positions” are nonsense.
12. Matt Margolis | February 20th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Obama2008’s list is absolutely laughable.
I also find it amusing that Obama2008 makes not attempt to rebut the point of the blog post.
13. Some Assembly Required | February 20th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
““Enron.” The bulk of the fraud took place under Clinton and was exposed under Bush.”
I seem to remember California’s ‘rolling blackouts’ under Bush’s watch.
““Colin Powell’s fabricated UN speech” Fabricated? You’ve got proof of intentional lies? Really? Can you point to some?”
I don’t know if you even need it here. The simple fact that the UN did not join America in the war pretty much speaks for itself. (They went to Afghanistan though.) The world knew what was going on, it’s just the majority of the American public that didn’t because they trusted their leaders unequivocally.
10 or 20 years from now Bush will be viewed as one of the worst things that happened to America, maybe even with more disdain then Nixon. At least with Nixon the power of the press was unveiled, but wait, the Bush administration has managed to destroy their creditability too.
14. Kahn | February 20th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Matt, I only chose a few as examples.
15. Matt Margolis | February 20th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
“I seem to remember California’s ‘rolling blackouts’ under Bush’s watch.”
Correction, those occurred on the watch of then governor Gray-Out Davis…
It’s so amusing that the left will blame Bush for things that were someone else’s fault. But, then again, they’ve been doing that since the beginning.
16. neocon | February 20th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
SAR,
The rolling blackouts were a result of what happened because of Enron, which again all happened on Clintons watch. Much like 9/11 was a result of Clinton not paying attention.
And Obama2008, I am not saying it’s Clinton’s fault, I am just pointing out facts. You’re entitled to your own opinion, but you’re not entitled to your own facts.
17. felix the cat | February 20th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Deleted - off topic.
18. Some Assembly Required | February 20th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Matt,
Bush was in Office Er-go, it’s on his watch.
Neocon,
If you really want to get specific about it, the US stopped funding Bin-Laden when the soviet union collapsed, thus creating their hatred. Jimmy Carter was in Office, so all the attacks Bin-Laden and AL-Queda have commited since then was a direct result of Carter. No wait, the Soviet Union because they collapsed…
Also, the bush administration where given warnings of the attacks, they were just ignored. So putting 9/11 on Clinton really shows how desperately your grasping at straws. Just a little advice, don’t turn to the bottle when your world collapses, it seems like a quick fix at the time, until you lose close to everything.
FYI Lunar Ellipse now
Cheers
19. neocon | February 20th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
SAR,
What documents did Sandy Berger steal and destroy? Do you care about classified documents? And if you think Bush should have reacted to UBLs threats in 8 months, why do you excuse Clintons failure to act in 8 years?
Cheers? What a comletely juvenile signature. Of course I need to consider the source.

I did not excuse Clinton, I simply pointed out using him as a scape goat for Bush is truly pathetic.
Cheers

SAR,
Brilliant rebuttal. Exactly what I expect from a mindless minion.
Jeers.

Senator Obama has had enough time in his brief time in the Senate to at least accomplish something, but I did notice many votes of “Present” on the Senate website. Maybe he hopes that just being “Present” will win in November?
I saw Hurricane Katrina in the list of comment #2. As a native and life-long resident of Louisiana, I’m always amused when the smearing of President Bush begins on this one. Louisianians know who was at fault, and apparently she did too, as Gov. Blanco (D-LA) didn’t even bother running for re-election last year. FEMA responded to both Katrina and Rita in excellent fashion, and that’s from my own personal experience with them.

Obama2008 | February 20th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
But almost every American can name at least five failures/scandals of the Bush administration.
You can choose from this long list:
Abu Ghraib
Blackwater
Colin Powell’s fabricated UN speech
Iraq War, “Mission Accomplished”
World Wide increase in Terrorism
Katrina
Donald Rumsfeld
Alberto Gonzalez
Largest debt in U.S. history
Social Security Reform
No Child Left Behind
Over extended Military
abuse of the National Guard and Reserves
Water Reed Hospital
Letting Bin Laden away at Tora Bora
Firing of US attorneys
Dubai Ports deal
Scooter Libby
Halliburton Fraud in Iraq
Warrantless NSA wiretapping
K Street Lobbyists
Karl Rove and the “Culture of Corruption”
Global warming Denial
Mercury Levels from Coal Plants
Armstrong Williams and paid propagandists
Bush vetoes a stem cell research
Clear Skies Act of February 14, 2002
James Guckert aka Jeff Gannon
Armstrong Williams, paid propaganda
False military reporting: Pat Tillman, J. Lynch
Enron and Ken Lay
Use of GSA to aid Republican candidates
Voter suppression and intimidation
Swift boating of John Kerry
Lost White House emails
Rubberstamping Republican Congress
Medicare privatization
Bush and the Republicans will long be remembered as a scandal plagued gang of incompetents.
That is if truth becomes history.
Just can’t stop talkin’ about im! You are all going to die of heart attacks 1/2 way through Mcains 1st term due to your BDS. GOI, Get over it! He isn’t running again, and he hasn’t screwed up this country any more than you screw it up daily.

Here, Khan - from the stumped chump himself:
Obama’s fight for universal children’s health care in Illinois.
His success bringing Republicans and Democrats together (a huge selling point in general) on bills such as the one in Illinois requiring police interrogations and confessions to be videotaped.
His leadership on ethics reform in Washington (the bill that lobbyists and special interests are complaining about right now has his name on it).
His bill to make the federal budget far more transparent and accessible to Americans via the Internet.
And his vital work (with Republicans, no less) to lock down nuclear weapons around the world.
Barack Obama has a vision for this nation, and we would be fortunate to fulfill it. He has the commitment to work with everyone from across the political and demographic spectrum to achieve it. And he has the strength to defend us, our security, and our values against all who will challenge them.
The above came from the stumped chump’s own website. You can see it here: http://www.kirkwatson.com/media/whats-new/2008/02/20/msnbc-and-me/

Con,
Post #9, what is there to rebut. I think what Sandy Berger did is atrocious and should be punished. But I fail to see how this in anyway shape or form excuses bush of anything. Thats what you do, when questioned about his policies or actions you can’t possibly defend rationally you come up with ‘But they did this’ or ‘their worse than we are’ and if that still doesn’t work personal insults. Then you’ll come off complaining about accountability for teachers or some other thing and you have the audacity to call me juvenile.
“Cheers? What a comletely juvenile signature. Of course I need to consider the source.”
Nice rebuttal yourself.
Cheers

It must really suck to see all you believe in to be revealed as the pathetic, misguided, horribly wrong “ideas” that they truly are.
Need some help tying that knot?

We also forget to mention Obama’s side kick. The grand prospect of the next First Lady, no?
We identify a lot about who we are by who we surround ourselves with in this world.
Michelle went to Princeton University. She was the beneficiary of affirmative action, and many people that were more qualified to attend Princeton were turned down so Michelle could attend. Obama conceded that she would not have been admitted on the strength of her grades.
Michelle Obama seems instead to have developed an abiding sense of racial resentment. This resentment finds its most bitter expression in her 1985 Princeton senior thesis, conveniently blocked from public viewing by the school until after next year’s presidential election, titled “Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community.” In it, the young Michelle LaVaughn Robinson paints a grim portrait of her future prospects, warning against “further integration and/or assimilation into a White cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant.”

Just who is Obama? Is the savior of america, or is he a racialy motivated biggot behind pomp and sophisticated speeches? What values can we assess, outside of his own representations, that can tell us that he is correctly representing himself before us? Look at who he surrounds himself with, his Pastor for example;
On March 1, 1972, Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. became the pastor of Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ (TUCC), a position he still holds to this day. Because he has been a revered figure in the life of presidential aspirant Barack Obama for two decades, Wright’s political views, which he commonly draws from the tenets of liberation theology, are worthy of some scrutiny—if only to shed light on the teachings that have had enough resonance to retain Obama as a TUCC congregant since 1988. So great is Obama’s respect for Wright, that the former sought the Reverend’s counsel before formally declaring his candidacy for U.S. President. Moreover, Obama and his wife selected Wright to perform their wedding ceremony and to baptize their two daughters. These are honors of considerable magnitude, and it is reasonable to speculate that if we learn more about Rev. Wright, we may gain some insight into the personal qualities and belief systems Barack Obama holds in high regard.
When we read the writings, public statements, and sermons of Rev. Wright, we quickly notice his unmistakable conviction that America is a nation infested with racism, prejudice, and injustices that make life very difficult for black people. As he declared in one of his sermons: “Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run!… We [Americans] believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God.”
In a similar spirit, Wright laments “the social order under which we [blacks] live, under which we suffer, under which we are killed.”[1] Depicting blacks as a politically powerless demographic, he complains that “African Americans don’t run anything in the Capital except elevators.”[2] On its website, Wright’s church portrays black people as victims who are still burdened by the legacy of their “pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism,” and who must pray for “the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people.”

Just think about this. A wife and a pastor of any white person running for President, representing white society and interests like this, would be called racist and unworthy.
David Duke comes to mind. He ran for President too.
Is this what the media pushes? Obama, surrounded by racism and anti white hatred, is somehow the savior of America?
Obama really isnt material for President. Its a big mistake for the DNC to select this man, and an affrong to Americans everywhere.

“Christian Wright” posted a comprehensive list of Senator Obama’s activities in the Senate, but I didn’t notice any accomplishments. An accomplishment is where the legislation is successfully guided through both the Senate and the House and then signed by the President. It’s an accomplishment because it requires a degree of statesmanship and garnering of bi-partisan support.
“McCain - Feingold” was an accomplishment, regardless of my own personal belief that it was bad for the election process. Senator Obama hasn’t accomplished this with one of his own bills to my knowledge.
Now if the bar has been lowered to the point that merely introducing a bill is an “accomplishment” then I suppose President Bush’s effort to reform Social Security was an “accomplishment” since bills were likewise introduced to that effect. But I don’t think we’re at that point, and Senator Obama’s accomplishments remain undiscovered.

CW, well thanks for that. No idea what passewd, what didn’t. And such BIG accomplishments! sickle Cell Anemia Awareness Month? Who knew?
37. JS | February 21st, 2008 at 8:26 am
What are you talking about?
I consider it a great accomplishment that a biggoted racist is running for government, and the people dont even know about it.
It demostrates some of the finest political accomplishments in America, the art of deception.
Remember how well the hid Clintons sexual harrasment history from everyone, until he got caught and impeached?
The characture of the man in office is far more important than his accomplishments. But not by much.

Christian,
I didn’t see the S.AMDT by Barak promoting the healthy attributes of fresh air. But this may be one of my favorites:
…….S.AMDT.3004 to H.R.1585 Purpose will be available when the amendment is proposed for consideration. ………..
Brilliant Christian. Thank you for sharing.
Just throw something out there with your name on it right? Whether it’s considered or not? And there’s a a lot of those. Or the following certainly demonstrates his unqualified leadership abilities:
……S.AMDT.924 to S.761 To establish summer term education programs……

My favorites were a couple that have actually been read, some “read twice”. Awesome list there CW. Change. Peace. Come together with the most liberal candidate since George McGovern. With no accomplishments and no original ideas, just Socialist rehash. Good luck with that.
40. Joe | February 21st, 2008 at 10:07 am
Accomplishments? It doesn’t matter if we post a list 200 long of accomplishments, you Repubs will only scoff at it and say they were all meaningless.
Just like when you say that his plans have no details. We point out the details and you just say they are all liberal pipe dreams.
Since you people keep saying he has no “experience”, I guess he didn’t have a lot of time to get all the “accomplishments” you so obviously desire. Here are a few.
–> Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006
–> The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act
–> The 2007 Government Ethics Bill
More importantly, look at his life “accomplishments”. He didn’t have rich parents. He didn’t marry into money. He put himself thru college. First African-American President of the Harvard Law Review (I guess that isn’t an “accomplishment” right there). Didn’t go work for big bucks right out of school. Instead, went to work for the community in a low income neighborhood on the south side (actually working with every-day people, novel idea that you Repubs don’t understand).
You seem to think Bush had enough “experience”. He surrounded himself with all these clowns with previous White House “experience”. Look what that got us for the last 7 years.
McCain has been in DC since the 80’s. Perhaps a bit poisoned from being there for so long.
I’ll take my chances with Obama’s “experience” in a heartbeat.
41. SEW | February 21st, 2008 at 10:23 am
“African-American President of the Harvard Law Review (I guess that isn’t an “accomplishment” right there).”
Another affirmative action accomplishment. Name one thing he penned while President of the Law Review, or before his affirmative action appointment as President.
Nada. Present.
And his wife is an affirmative action admit to Princeton, where her senior thesis is being withheld from the public.
42. Joe | February 21st, 2008 at 10:26 am
Of course… he is black… anything he got in his life must be due to affirmative action. Care to prove that?
Like I said… “It doesn’t matter if we post a list 200 long of accomplishments, you Repubs will only scoff at it and say they were all meaningless.”
You sound like a racist scum.
43. SEW | February 21st, 2008 at 10:31 am
Affirmative action is the racism. I, like MLK, believe one should not be judged by the color of his skin. Racists do that. Joe, that would be you and any affirmative action liberal.
You are racist scum.
44. js | February 21st, 2008 at 10:42 am
Its really irrelevant that he is black, Joe.
What is relevant is that he IS a Black Racist, and supports a socialist black church that supports a “Black Value System”.
Did you know that his pastor at Trinity really represents a Marxist socialist theme, and has a non negotiable commitment to Africa?
Think about it. What would you say if someone were running for President (like David Duke)? Promoting a white supremacy, neo nazi theology with a commitment to white power as the supreme race?
Sure is easy to ignore the reverse racism in the USA disguised as civil rights. It protects blacks, and does little to nothing for the other races, like the Indians, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, or any other minority. Its black and thats it. Its also a racist platform, its ethnicity is well explained in the Trinity Church that Obama has belonged to for 20 years.
Now dont square off and accuse me of being a racist here. Im not white. My Mom was born on a reservation. The Neo Nazi’s just dont dig my type. But if our way of life is for the people, by the people, then it has to mean all of the people, not just the Blacks. ML King said I have a Dream, well, in responce, if that dream only includes a Black Values Sytem, then its a bankruptcy in every moral sense.
We cannot allow rabid anti-capitalist socialist racists to rule this nation. It would destroy it.
45. js | February 21st, 2008 at 10:57 am
Shoot.
They say Hitler was charismatic too.
That doesnt mean Obama deserves our backing.
46. Uncommon | February 21st, 2008 at 6:15 pm
I hate it when white people talk about black issues as if they had any idea what in the hell they are talking about. Maybe it’s just Kansas but I see evidence of racism daily and I do not know one black man who can’t name at least a handful of racist experiences in their life time. Unfortunately some form of affirmative action is necessary and will continue to be so until people start actually discussing these issues instead of assuming some form of hand out has taken place. As far as a “Black values system”, hell yes there needs to be a stated system of values. Before the government got involved in social welfare and education there were no communities stronger than that of African Americans. They had a definite defined set of values that were destroyed durring the 60s and continue to wane even today. So I have no problem with a church that expresses the desire to reestablish such values seeing as the church was the center of those strong communities.
47. SEW | February 21st, 2008 at 8:14 pm
“I hate it when white people talk about black issues as if they had any idea what in the hell they are talking about.”
“They had a definite defined set of values that were destroyed durring the 60s and continue to wane even today.”
I assume you are not black since you refer to African Americans as ‘they’. But you hate it when ‘white’ people talk about black issues. Can I deduce by your reasoning, you don’t have any idea what the hell you are talking about, about both white issues and black issues? Or are you an exempted academic?
You might take the time to read Thomas Sowell, Ken Blackwell and J.C. Watts. Or even a guy that went by MLK and dreamed of NOT being judged by the color of ones skin.

46. Uncommon
I hate idiots that think blacks are above the rest of us all, and are the only ones subjected to racism. Matter of fact, Indians have endured racism far more than blacks, yet, they just pick up from where they were left standing, and keep on going. Spanish/Mexican Americans, Japanese Americans, Chinese Americans, shoot, they ALL endure racism. AS DO WHITE PEOPLE.
They dont piss and moan about prejudice against them, and they, have full right too. Blacks give out more prejudice against other races than any race in this nation, to include anti-white prejudice as well, twice as bad as I have ever witnessed anywhere.
Personally, Ive had about enough of it.
49. Jones | February 21st, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Joe,
I looked up the three Obama accomplishments that you listed. Here they are:
Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006
Created a “Google-like search engine and database to track approximately $1 trillion in federal grants, contracts, earmarks and loans.”
The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act
Lugar-Obama would expand the detection and interdiction of weapons and materials of mass destruction.
The 2007 Government Ethics Bill
This is another bill that dealt with earmarks by posting them up on the internet.
So he really went out on a limb and decided that we should make sure that terrorists do not get wmd’s. Also, he posted up all of the congressional spending for earmarks on the internet (twice). I don’t see that Murtha or any other pork barrel congressman (either party) has slowed down because of it.
Keep the accomplishments coming. If your lucky, maybe Obama can get another postage stamp for someone.

I, like MLK, believe one should not be judged by the color of his skin. Racists do that. Joe, that would be you and any affirmative action liberal.
Except that MILK was in favor of affirmative action. As he put it:
“A society that has done something special against the Negro for hundreds of years must now do something special for the Negro”
Awww, too bad, so sad, SEW. Want some salt to go with your foot?
52. phnx | February 22nd, 2008 at 6:12 am
Christian Wright, you are far to modest in praising your hero Obama. You failed to mention that his S2243, initiative ti fight global poverty would commit .07% of our GDP to the UN. This amounts to about 1 Trillion dollars over thirteen year. What a magnanimous jesture, since we don’t have enough moneyfor our own social security or medicare programs.
53. SEW | February 22nd, 2008 at 8:45 am
Tract, Draw your own conclusion from that statement, but how does special translate to affirmative action? Only in the delusional “brain” of a liberal.
Now take your medication.
54. Tractatus | February 22nd, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Thanks for admitting that you’re wrong, SEW. I mean, you admitted it in your own very special way, but you admitted it. That’s good. That’s a first step. And hey, if you manage to stop chowing down on your feet and start learning a few things, maybe you’ll start getting some of this stuff right. Won’t that feel good?
Best of luck to ya!
