Do You Want to Surrender? Howard Dean: Hypocrite

Hold On, Obama’s Stealing Again

Mike Huckabee certain got enough flack for using Boston’s “More Than A Feeling” without permission… so, I wonder how the left will spin Obama’s unauthorized use of of “Hold On, I’m Coming” on the the campaign trail.

Hold On: Stop using my song.

That’s the message to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama from soul singer Sam Moore of Sam & Dave fame.

The singer said Saturday that he’s sent a letter to the Obama campaign asking them to stop using one of the duo’s signature songs, “Hold On, I’m Comin’,” at campaign rallies.

Moore says he’s not endorsing Obama or anybody else at this time for president.

“No one called me, no one sent a telegraph, no one did anything. They just did it, and I think that’s rather rude,” Moore said from his home in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Tommy Vietor, an Obama campaign spokesman, responded in a brief e-mail Saturday that they received the letter and will stop using the tune.

Moore, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, said the song is played frequently at campaign events, with supporters sometimes changing the lyrics to “Hold On, Obama’s Comin’.”

First he was caught stealing Deval Patrick’s words, now he’s been caught using someone else’s song without permission. Is anything on the level with this guy?

Obama needs to change his song to Cheap Trick’s - Surrender.

    It is only appropriate.

Or perhaps either lib candidate should use “Back in the USSR!”.

OK - let the attack begin!

    So much for Obama’s “change.”

But don’t you understand, ownership is such a bourgeois capitalist concept, especially when it comes to ART, which is really for THE PEOPLE.

Come the revolution, or Obama’s rise to power, these petty claims to ownership and property rights will be dealt with, right after the new ruling elite decides who “deserves” to keep how much of what they make, and other similar matters.

    Go suck an egg…

” PHOENIX—It may be “Our Country,” but it’s John Mellencamp’s song.

When the liberal rocker found out his songs were being played at events for Republican John McCain’s presidential campaign, Mellencamp’s publicist sent a letter that questioned the campaign’s playlist.

“Are you sure you want to use his music to promote Senator McCain’s efforts?” according to the letter sent to McCain’s campaign on Monday. “Logic says that the facts might prove to be an embarrassment, were they to be circulated widely.”

McCain campaign spokesman Brian Rogers in Washington, D.C., said Thursday that the songs would no longer be played. He declined to elaborate.

The letter explained Mellencamp was a liberal who had supported Democrat John Edwards, who recently dropped out of the race.”

    Hypocrites.

Uh, Sam’s a bit confused. It’s Isaac Hayes and David Porter’s song. Sam & Dave sang a version of it, as did Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin and 25 other artists, all without Sam’s permission. Sam’s just yanking, and Obama’s campaign seems happy NOT to send any mechanical royalties Sam’s way from now on.

Hayes and Porter could probably have used the ASCAP royalties, but, oh well.

    They all do it.

And as far as Patrick is concerned,he and Obama are friends. THey also share some of the same campaign writers and workers. So of course he’ll use Patrick’s words. Before anyone gets pissy about it,why don’t they ask Patrick if he cares?

I haven’t heard a peep from him in the news, have you?

Obama has credited Patrick if you cared to look….
