Pro-Abortion Activist Endorses Obama

Not sure if Obama will really want this one:

Washington DC, Feb 20, 2008 (CNA).- Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama has been endorsed by Frances Kissling, the former president of the pro-abortion group Catholics for a Free Choice.

In an article written for the Huffington Post, Kissling defended her endorsement of Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton saying that his presidency would finish the “social transformation” begun by the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide.

“While I believe in the nitty gritty of a day-to-day legislative agenda, there will be little difference between Clinton and Obama, I am convinced that in the larger struggle to complete the social transformation promised by Roe, Obama’s instincts and values will bring us closer to that transformation,” Kissling said.

Kissling broke ranks with other feminists who favor abortion rights but have endorsed New York Senator Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination. She said that both candidates would appoint Supreme Court justices who favor Roe v. Wade, overturn the Mexico City policy that forbids funding for non-governmental organizations that also perform abortions, and restore funding to the United Nations Population Fund, which lost US funding after its co-operation with coerced abortions in China was exposed…

…”It is no longer about ‘winning, the culture war. It is about completing the social transformation that Roe began but did not solidify,” Kissling concluded. “That task, I believe, will best be accomplished by a president who sees her or his role as calling us to greatness … I think Barack Obama is the person who can do that,” she said.

Abortion on demand is part of our call to greatness? What a horrid sickness it is, a position in support of abortion - completely dehumanizing in the worst possible way. At any rate, Kissling is correct in her assertion that both Hillary and Obama will follow a pro-abortion-fanatic line, but I’m not sure that either of them needs this sort of endorsement - there is that wool which needs to be pulled over the public’s eyes on abortion, after all, and someone coming along and pointing out - as if its a good thing - that Obama will even go as far as helping out baby-butchering in China might not help Obama pretend to be other than a ultra-liberal extremist.

    Mark:

No one is “pro-abortion.” In fact many of us liberal folks that are pro choice are also in favor of easy access to birth control and sex education. This reduces the need for any woman to have to even make a choice to terminate her pregnancy.

On your side, you censor such education in schools, make getting birth control nearly impossible and preach “abstinence only” fairy tails that do not work.

    LiberalMind,

I know you want very much for people to believe that there isn’t anyone pro-abortion - but there is, and it is because the evil of elective abortion acts like acid on the human soul. Once you start down that road, the heart becomes ever more hardened and what was unspeakable evil yesterday is called a good thing today.

The only fairy tales here is the concept that “choice” is a meaningful term, rather than a Big Lie designed to obfuscate the fact that some people - God help us, members of our own species - actually take it in hand to murder unborn children, for money.

Deleted - off topic; the topic is the endorsement of Obama by a fanatic, pro-abortion activist…this opens up all sorts of things to talk about, and yet you lefties just won’t talk about them. Wonder why that is?

    The “larger struggle”?????!!!??

Government funded baby killing on demand is the larger struggle??

    Great!!

The same people that yell about how horrified they
are that our babies, our children are being killed in
Iraq fight tooth and nail to dismember and kill the babies by the hundreds of thousands in their own country.

It’s like saying how important free speech and freedom of one’s own opinion is while you are chained to the doors of a military recruitment center,
    calling the Soldiers murderers,child predators,and
international terrorist…thus denying people their rights to speak and relate with the very same people
    that have provided these rights.

With liberals you get guaranteed hypocrisy combined with enough narcissism to render them
    totally irrelevant.

Gotta love it when she uses the words “social transformation”..

Keep trying, but this issue is done with the majority of americans want abortion legal, you can pretend that they don’t but they do. You can’t win on this issue, the minority that view it as murder will always vote republican therefore the repubs will never outlaw it or they lose a reliable voting base of motivated suckers who never notice they get nothing from their votes.

All you lefties please re-read Frances Kissling’s actual words. Sounds like she likes abortion just fine, thank you. In fact, she seems to say that the more abortions women have, the more “social transformation” we get, and since you’re all for “social transformation,” per Ms. Kissling you should favor more abortions, too.

The only part I don’t understand is, with such extreme pro-abortion views, why isn’t Ms. Kissling’s group called “Former Catholics for Abortion”?

…”It is no longer about ‘winning, the culture war. It is about completing the social transformation that Roe began but did not solidify,” Kissling concluded

Social transformation to what, legalized murder for anyone you think will interfere with your ability to party all night and have irresponsible sex?

Lefties are simply out of their ****ing minds. Seriously. Wacko.

Of course, said social transformation does not include the death penalty for murderers like Tookie, harsh jail time for pedophiles, or a little discomfort for terrorists.

So Billy, do you believe that only lefties have abortions?

  • 13. William Teach  |  February 25th, 2008 at 4:42 pm

Maybe you should read and comprehend the entirety of what I wrote, Sunny. You are not understanding the context, though, that is not unsurprising for a liberal.

You know, it’s really amazing, animals even know better than to kill their babies, and they don’t even have a spirit.

Yet, man, in all his intelligence is for some reason driven to murder his own, babies….the most pure and innocent form of life. Why???

Lust, with a burning fornication in his heart, and the almighty $Dollah$.

Cha-ching, cha-ching, pourin’ the money into the business of murder.

    What a sick world.

    Abortion is MURDER,
ask any of the 35,000,000 dead babies in the USA alone.
Pro choice? what a weasel play on words. If osama obama were the “christian” man he proports to be, he would HAVE to be against abortion.

…this issue is done with, the majority of americans want abortion legal, you can pretend that they don’t but they do. You can’t win on this issue….

Not so fast, BARRASSO. Several recent polls indicate that a majority of Americans favor making abortion illegal in all cases, or illegal except in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother. SEE: http://www.pollingreport.com/abortion.htm

Similarly, in 2005, a Pew Research Center poll found that 60% of all Americans favor stricter limits on abortions than currently exist; and that 40% of all Americans think abortion should be either completely illegal, or illegal except in cases of rape, incest or to save a woman’s life. SOURCE: http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=253

And although I don’t have a link for this yet, I recall a recent poll of young adults and teenagers showed that a LARGE majority of them favor making abortion illegal all the time, or illegal except in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother. (If I find a link for this later today, I’ll post it.)

So contrary to your post, the issue seems to be far from “done with,” and that a candidate or political party running on a “more restrictions” platform can “win on this issue.” Indeed, in light of the generational differences, in time, it seems to be — mercifully — inevitable.
