A Tip of the Hat to Prince Harry

February 29th, 2008 at 01:31am Mark Noonan

He didn’t have to go, but he went anyways:

They’re calling him “Harry the Hero!”

British Royal Prince Harry has been fighting in Afghanistan since late December — and has been directly involved in gun battle, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

The prince, a junior officer in the Blues and Royals, and third in line to the throne, has been a “magnificent soldier” and an “inspiration to all of Briton.”

Prince Harry is taking part in a new offensive against the Taliban.

Ministry of Defense and Clarence House refuse all comment. Army chiefs have managed to keep the prince away from media and have encourage fellow soldiers in his squadron to stay quiet.

Good luck and God speed, Price Harry.

UPDATE: And a tip of the hat to Sgt. Wayne Leyde:

After completing two tours in Iraq, Sgt. Wayne Leyde won $1 million from a scratch-and-win lotto ticket on Tuesday.

Now that he’s won, Leyde, a 26-year-old member of the Washington National Guard, says he’s still going to volunteer to go back to Iraq for a third tour and won’t spend any of the money in the meantime.

Leyde was driving near his home in Mead, Washington when he stopped at a store on the side of the road and bought a ticket…

…Leyde couldn’t believe it when he scratched a winning ticket, but he still plans to return to Iraq.

“It was a commitment I made about three months ago. I’m going to stick to it,” Leyde said about his decision.

The sergeant says rents have gone sky high where he and his parents live in the Mount Spokane area of Washington and that, for now, he’s not going to spend any of the money.

“For right now, I’m going to hold off [spending] and let reality sink back to earth. This is a true blessing. I’m going to turn it around and see if I can bless other people with this,” Leyde said.

Sgt. Leyde is a better man than most of us, in a lot of ways - get home soon and safe, Mr. Leyde.

Well done, Prince Harry, well done!

Prince Harry may be one of the last men of courage left in the UK. Perhaps he will be king one day and continue the fight against the Islamists which are swarming England. Heaven knows the UK needs strong leadership…

(Britain) “Bobbies Will Be Taught Sharia Law And The Koran In ‘Secret’ Plan To Counter Terror At Local Level” - DailyMail.com

DailyMail.com: Police will be trained on the importance of the Koran and Sharia law to Muslims under Government plans to tackle extremism.

Lessons in the Islamic faith and culture will become part of the formal training for recruits. Chief constables said officers will build better relationships by understanding the communities they are policing. This could prove crucial in rooting out extremism and preventing a terrorist attack, according to the Association of Chief Police Officers. [..]

But critics have described the plan as “politically correct thinking”. Philip Davies, Conservative MP for Shipley, said: “Police officers are not there to implement sharia law. They are there to implement British law. “This idea is misguided. We will only get community cohesion when everybody signs up to being British and following British law.”

“I am very disappointed that foreign websites have decided to run this story without consulting us. This is in stark contrast to the highly responsible attitude that the whole of the UK print and broadcast media, along with a small number of overseas outlets, who have entered into an understanding with us over the coverage of Prince Harry on operations,? General Dannatt said.

Yes the Brits are quite put out by all this, quite put out indeed. When will these arrogant and boastful conservative websites ever learn?

Army heads are to decide whether Prince Harry can continue his deployment in Afghanistan after news broke of him on the front line against the Taleban.

His deployment there was subject to a news blackout deal struck to preserve his safety, but it broke down after foreign media leaked the story.

It is understood the news was first leaked in an Australian publication in January but only after it appeared on the influential US website, The Drudge Report, did the deal break down.

By promoting and spreading this secret information, BlogsforVictory are aiding the terrorists. Now even more people will know where Harry is and that will make him a target of terrorists. I believe Drudge and B4V can now be considered “enemy combatants” and must be interrogated at Gitmo.
By spreading this news they are aiding the terrorists. Perhaps enhanced interrogation techniques will reveal their motive.
Where does B4V get its funding to promote its blog? Saudi Arabia? Pakistan? The Department of Homeland Security and MI-6 may want to know.

Political irony and sarcasm aside, The Taleban would love a political target like Prince Harry. It was very foolish to publicize his whereabouts.

  • 7. plainjane  |  February 29th, 2008 at 7:40 am

I just have two questions. Why would Drudge give away such information to put Prince Harry and his fellow troops at greater risk than they already were and would Drudge reveal such information if his son or daughter were in Price Harry’s unit? Don’t know much about Drudge but he is probably just another Repug Chickenhawk whose children are not in any danger. But you know the conservatives while selling out for a buck on one end will be waving the flag and apple pie on the other; pathetic.

Now I know why Limbaugh always says each day he goes first to the Drudge Report.

He has been recalled - too dangerous for the prince to remain on active duty now that his cover has been blown.

The feigned outrage and indignation of the left on this issue is really ironic in light of their past support of leaks of CIA and NSA methods and tactics which have jeopordized the secutiry of our country.

You leftist hypocrites have no shame.

  • 12. Joe  |  February 29th, 2008 at 10:20 am

hmmm… interesting. Let’s compare the two things.
The “leaks” that you claim “the left” is in support of are things that point to something that the government is doing that is teetering on illegal. It may or may not be, but it is most certainly close enough to raise questions.
Drudge “leaks” that the prince is in Afghanastan endangering the prince and his entire troop. Why? So he can get the story out first.

So don’t be a fool phnx. This is two completely different scenarios. Good Americans should know which one to support and which one is scum.

  • 13. Nietzsche-Is-Pietzsche  |  February 29th, 2008 at 10:43 am

    Phnx-

It’s not feigned outrage, what this story is is a cheap attempt, by the Right, to score some pseudo- patriotic “heart-string” points without thinking clearly what the ramifications of their actions could have possibly been. Let’s also not forget this was Drudge trying to score a scoop in the name of ad revenue while waving the flag. Any chance to make a buck huh?
It was a cynical, self serving act by Matt Drudge to bolster support for a foriegn policy blunder by those on the Right that he operates as an apologist for and what it did was not only further endangered the life of this young man (the possible sovereign of an allied nation) but also put all of those around him deeper into harms way.

But hey what am I complaining for? When your own “heroes” see nothing wrong with exposing our own covert CIA agents for political gain then what’s to stop you ?

Truly the Right has lost it’s way.

    Joe and NIP,

Drudge represents himself, not anyone else.

Your concern over the welfare of the Prince is notable, especially in view of your contempt for those who make our nation safe.

    Your Plame meme is laughable.

Tell me again, which unit do the Bush Twins serve with in Afghanistan?

  • 16. Almiranta  |  February 29th, 2008 at 9:51 pm

The story came out in Australia first, dimmies. Someone interjected an OPINION that it was Drudge who gave the story legs, got it out there, but who knows? It was already published. Do you know what “published” means? It means it had already become public knowledge, disseminated in the Australian media.

Drudge did not depend on some politically motivated insider to provide him with top secret and/or classified information, information on which lives depended, information about essential security tactics, and then make this information public.

Drudge took a published story, reprinted it, and the only one put in danger by the story being printed was one person—who was easily removed from danger.

Not true for those put in danger by the Leftist choice to risk national security just to try to bring down or harm the administration. Not at all. And by the way, those put in danger include you really radical and rabid Lefties as well as the decent people of this country who were appalled at the callous decision to put political gamesmanship ahead of national security.

“Teetering on illegal”. Bull. Talk about weasel words.

Darva, you are just a mean and nasty spiteful piece of work. Have you served? Then stop this petty sniping about the Bush twins. Did Chelsea go enlist after Daddy bombed Kosovo? More to the point, did any conservative, ANY CONSERVATIVE, whine and bitch and moan about her not being in harm’s way?

Aside from an isolated comment here and there, Chelsea was off limits. But that was when the opposition was civilized. Now you guys are the opposition, and there are no rules—it’s slime just for slimes’ sake, spite just because you love to wallow in it, malice because you feel justified in indulging in behavior the rest of us find reprehensible. But you do get cheers from your fellow rabid Lefties.

CW wrote “By promoting and spreading this secret information, BlogsforVictory are aiding the terrorists. ” Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. Well obviously Al Queda checks this site every day to see what they can pick up on troop movements.

You are such an idiot. Funny though.

Indeed I did. I was a 16D Hawk crew member with 1st Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery at Ft. Lewis, WA from ‘80 to ‘83.

    How about you?

Phnx- What does that kind of justification defense remind you of. “Oh she wasn’t covert cause she was already outed as an agent before…boo hoo hoo.”
    LOL !!!!
You know what, when it comes to you conservative types it’s true what they say. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Drudge is an absolute douche and has aided and abetted the enemy or at least- put our most loyal allies in heightened danger. Can you imagine the Taliban scramble to hurt Prince Harry or his comrades?

Hell, if this had been leaked on DailyKos.com the Bush Backers here would be demanding the site be shut down.
