“Ethics Reform” or “Star Chamber?” Primary Turnout as an Election Predictor

Sinbad Slams Hillary’s Bosnia Story

March 12th, 2008 at 01:39am Mark Noonan

That’s gonna leave a mark:

Sinbad, along with singer Sheryl Crow, was on that 1996 trip to Bosnia that Clinton has described as a harrowing international experience that makes her tested and ready to answer a 3 a.m. phone call at the White House on day one, a claim for which she’s taking much grief on the campaign trai.

Harrowing? Not that Sinbad recalls. He just remembers it being a USO tour to buck up the troops…

…In an interview with the Sleuth Monday, he said the “scariest” part of the trip was wondering where he’d eat next. “I think the only ‘red-phone’ moment was: ‘Do we eat here or at the next place.’”

Clinton, during a late December campaign appearance in Iowa, described a hair-raising corkscrew landing in war-torn Bosnia, a trip she took with her then-teenage daughter, Chelsea. “They said there might be sniper fire,” Clinton said.

Threat of bullets? Sinbad doesn’t remember that, either.

“I never felt that I was in a dangerous position. I never felt being in a sense of peril, or ‘Oh, God, I hope I’m going to be OK when I get out of this helicopter or when I get out of his tank.’”

In her Iowa stump speech, Clinton also said, “We used to say in the White House that if a place is too dangerous, too small or too poor, send the First Lady.”

Say what? As Sinbad put it: “What kind of president would say, ‘Hey, man, I can’t go ’cause I might get shot so I’m going to send my wife…oh, and take a guitar player and a comedian with you.’”

As you may have guessed by now, Sinbad isn’t supporting Clinton for president. He’s an Obama guy. All because of Clinton.

“What got me about Hillary was her attitude of entitlement, like he messed up her plan, like he had no reason to be there,” Sinbad said. “I got angry. I actually got angry! I said, ‘I will be for Obama like never before.”

I don’t recall that ‘96 trip being exactly an Audie Murphy moment for Hillary, either…nice to have Sinbad set the record straight.

Napoleon was, I believe, the first person to use “3 AM” in relation to courage - he called it “3 o’clock in the morning courage”; meaning the ability to be awakened to a crisis and handle it well. Interesting that Hillary uses it - either someone did some primo research, or its just a coincidence (I go with coincidence because I think the last time a liberal Democrat took a course in military history the military was debating whether or not to switch from muzzle loaders to breech loaders).

Anyways - the main thing to remember about the Clintons is their amazing ability to lie about everything. One prays that they still know what truth is, but the common element of any random Clinton statement is that it is untrue at least to some degree. That Hillary is telling a whopper about her ‘96 trip is not anything to be surprised about - the surprising thing is that someone in the Democratic party - Sinbad - has the guts to point it out.

I really feel for your Democrats out there - this sympathy is tinged, however, with a bit of “we told you so”. You see, you had your chance to rid yourselves of the Clintons in 1998 when Clinton was impeached…you’ll have to think hard for a moment, liberals, but if you do really get your brains working, you’ll remember that the “its just about sex” bit was mere Clintonite spin (ie, a lie). The crux of the issue was Bill’s perjury. Your chance to get rid of him (and her) handed to you on a silver platter - and you choose to defend him, and then elevate her to the Senate! Now you’ve got her, like fleas. Have fun trying to scratch her off.

    LoL!

Is Hillary “truth-challenged” (PC speak) or just a flat-out liar? I’m going with liar.

Unfortunately, we will have to endure seeing her for years to come, as the citizens of NY re-elected her to the Senate and they are just too brainwashed to kick her out of office.

Of course, Bubba has the billions of dollars at his disposal, thanks to his ‘charity’ and his relations with shady characters.

The Dems and MSM propped up these two, and now they’ll just have to live with the consequences.

Well, I dodged Filipino soldiers in a darkened jeepee screaming through the back streets of Olanagapo after curfew during martial law.

Maybe I’m qualified to run the CIA?

through the back streets of Olanagapo

Was that Magsaysay Avenue or Rizal Blvd?

What exactly did Hillary say was untrue? Did she claim she held off a battalion of troops with a tank’s machine gun ala Murphy? I’m more impressed by your dishonest smearing of Hillary every time you blog than in Hillary’s stumping. Since you fancy yourself as a really moral person (utterly lacking in self knowledge), wasn’t there something in the 10 Commandments about bearing false witness.
As far as Sinbad goes, he’s jumping on the Obama bandwagon out of racial solidariry than any principles himself. It’s funny that he has now been promoted to unimpeachable witness simply for bashing Clinton. Somehow, I don’t think you would quote him if he supported her.

    Sinbad?

Well obviously a guy who went AWOL from the military so many times that he was dishonorably discharged has more credibility than our former First Lady and Senator. Bravo Mark !! Tell me, did you strain your back reaching that far into the barrel for this nugget?

The hate for all things Clinton knows no bounds. It goes from the outright dishonest and disgusting to the heights of ridiculousness. Thanks for giving us both with this post.

    NiP,

What I wonder is how you managed to dig that up on Sinbad…and once again marvel at how unforgiving and hate-filled you on the left can be. Supposing Sinbad was dishonorably discharged - fine; but since that time he has gone overseas to entertain the troops…which shows he’s at least trying atone.

    Morris,

She implies that it was a harrowing trip which gave her insight into matters military and security…it was a harmless junket; that is the dishonesty.

As for Sinbad - so, you’re calling him some sort of idiot who’s only voting for Obama ’cause he’s black?

  • 11. Kahn  |  March 12th, 2008 at 3:39 pm

NiP - I’d like to see some kind of reference or proof on the DHD thing. Without being plugged directly into someones talking point, how would you even know that?

  • 12. Kahn  |  March 12th, 2008 at 3:42 pm

Michael, I didn’t then and don’t now know the names of any streets in Olongopo. I was kind of young and ignorant. As well as being arrogant and overconfident.

I probably would have made a good liberal poster back then.

Except I stepped up to be a Marine and that rarely happens from the liberal ranks these days.

    Say What!!????

NIP may not like Sinbad, but he has a lot of street cred in his community.

“Those of us who have served, worn the cloth of our nation, and gone into harm’s way know that to be successful we must have the strongest sense of trust in our Commander in Chief. We must be confident that he or she has listened to the best possible advice, that he or she has garnered the best possible information from all possible sources, that he or she has analyzed and weighed all the possible consequences and outcomes, and that he or she has made the decision to exert military force as a last possible resort,” said Admiral (Ret.) Robert “William” Williamson (USN). “Of this I am certain: Senator Obama will do all of those things and much more to ensure the safety and freedom of our citizens, our allies, and coalition partners. He has all the great qualities and attributes required to carry out the most difficult duties of the Presidency.

  • 16. Kahn  |  March 12th, 2008 at 9:39 pm

Is no one else going to challenge NiP about his assertion that Sinbad got a DHD?

According to quotes from Sinbad on Wikipedia, he ALMOST got a DHD.

” He was almost dismissed with a dishonorable discharge for various misbehavior including going AWOL.[5]

Not that it matters that much to me. Just sloppy posting and/or laziness on NiP’s part, I guess.

What kind of discharge did you get NiP? Yellow and gelatinous?

  • 17. Mike  |  March 13th, 2008 at 11:46 am

Just an observation. Truman, Kennedy, and Carter, all Democrats, all decorated veterans (and officers while they served), would certainly offer evidence to dispute your claim about Democrats not having researched military history since switching from muzzle to breach loaders.

And while we mention Carter, a guy I know you all despise, I’d point out that Gold and Oil — as benchrmarks of inflation) are higher now under Bush’s leadership than they were under Carter’s. So I beg the question: other than politically outmanuever Democrats for six years, what has Bush truly done to make America better under his leadership?

Perhaps, if Mr. Noonan and Margolis are fair and open minded enough, they will permit me to author a counter-point blog entry here to engage in some constructive bi-partisan dialogue.

There is enough bi- whatever presented here to fill a planet of lefties.
