Barack Obama: My Grandmother is a “Typical White Person” Credit Where Credit is Due

Easter, 2008

March 22nd, 2008 at 01:14am Mark Noonan

For my fellow Christians:

Lord,
send down your abundant blessing
upon your people who have devoutly recalled
the death of your Son
in the sure hope of the resurrection.
Grant them pardon, bring them comfort.
May their faith grow stronger
and their eternal salvation be assured.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

And for those of you of different faiths, I hope that you have a blessed weekend of happiness and hope.

My parish was blessed with an especially wonderful Good Friday liturgy this evening. In response to your offered prayer. Amen, amen.

    Mark, wonderful!!!!!

    Finally, a positive post!!!

You finally wished goodwill to people who are not Christians!!!!

I applaud you, since this is a sign that there is actually a decent person in there after all. Not all non-Christians are Godless heathens. Some of us live by a very deep set of moral values. Some of us Liberals actually wish to help our fellow man. As far as hope goes, Liberals actually do have a lot of hope. I, for one, believe that the REAL truth of this Universe, and others, is far greater and more wonderful than anything we can even possibly imagine. Although I believe that the concept of Christianity is partly history and partly mythology, the meaning is clear. The meaning of the story of Jesus Christ is incredible and far-reaching, and you do NOT have to believe in the divinity of Jesus to be extremely afftected by this story. The story of Jesus, as a man, is greatly inspiring to do your best to help others and self-sacrifice. There may or may not be a God out there overseeing everything, but there is one thing for sure - we have only begun to understand the barest fraction of the wonders of this world and this Universe. Maybe Sci-fi writers are perhaps the best place to start to look for REAL truth in the Universe, since in their minds, anything may be possible. If there is truth to Christianity, it is the merest fraction of the absolute truth that lies out there for us to find. If we can see past our petty differences here on Earth and look outwards towards the heavens, we may actually stand a chance at becoming a civilized people. Maybe someday we can understand the story of Jesus in a light which does not divide us into camps of believers and non-believers that hate each other, but as brothers in a world where all religions and all ideals can be freely exchanged, a world where people actually understand each other, even if they have different views on things.

Thanks, Mark, for taking a step down that road. I respect your faith and it is nice to see that you do respect others’ faith as well. Now, if only you would see that same light in how you discuss Liberalism and understand that not all on the left are out to get you and destroy your way of life. Some of us actually care, and actually want a better world for everyone. I hope that one day you will see and understand that fact.

Happy Easter to you and yours, Mark. peace be with you on your special holiday.

i was kneeling in a baptist church, and the sermon was an exception one of praising God by a black priest

in a moment of silence, a powerful charge surrounded me, my hair felt as if it stood on end, i had goosebumps from head to toe

then i hear my name whispered ever so lightly, and i knew the Holy Spirit was upon us

people reject christianity for many reasons, but once this happens, it changes your life forever

its as real as the sun in the sky
