Its All Gone Wrong
April 3rd, 2008 at 06:34am Mark Noonan
For the Democrats, that is - as Victor Davis Hanson notes:
The Republicans have done something unimaginable in making Sen. John McCain the presumptive nominee. And so have the Democrats in allowing their primary season to drag on.
On the Republican side, McCain was running far behind in the primaries not too long ago, and his maverick positions enraged influential conservatives. Yet he proved to be the only Republican candidate who had any chance of capturing moderate and independent voters. And for all their bluster, most die-hard conservatives now seem like they’re going to hold their noses and vote Republican.
On the Democratic side, Clinton was stopped cold — but still has yet to be finished off by Obama. Now we can expect months more of infighting. As the Democrats raise tens of millions to destroy themselves, McCain can only sit back and smile.
With Obama the likely nominee, we can also expect to hear more from, and about, his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Reporters no doubt are scanning Rev. Wright’s massive corpus of texts and DVDs for more hate speech.
Even before the Wright controversy, the Democratic vote had been split heavily along racial lines — whites for Clinton, blacks for Obama — in certain states, including the all-important Ohio. That’s not a good sign for a party that’s supposed to be a model of racial transcendence.
In reality, of course, the GOP still has a very steep hill to climb if we’re to win in November, but if we do win it will because of two things:
1. John McCain being the far better man and
2. Democrats having wrecked themselves on those very racial and gender political issues they’ve used for decades to divide Americans into hate-filled camps, each clamoring for a bigger piece of the government pie.
Obama wins black voters plus upper class whites. Hillary wins women and blue collar whites. Obama, who hasn’t shown much appeal for Hillary’s core supporters, will have to try and convince them to vote for him, when they feel a much greater affinity for the story and personality of John McCain. If Hillary is the nominee, she’ll have an embittered left (ie, those upper class white Obama voters) and black electorate, sure she only won by nefarious, backroom political gamesmanship. Either one of them can square the circle (after all, Democrats of all stripes are very hungry for Presidential power), but it won’t be easy - especially as McCain and the GOP will drive right into the Democratic divisions to exploit them for GOP victory.
If the Democrats do end up winning, it will be entirely their just reward for the lies, hate and corruption they’ve used as a means of retaining and gaining power for so long now. The defeat of the Democrats in 2008 will be a defeat of the very worst elements in American politics, and we can hope that it will signal the end of that political poison brought into the Democratic party in the wake of 1968.

You don’t have to dig too much into Wright to find the “real” B. Hussein Obama. All you have to do is read his book which, I imagine, few folks have bothered with. It is an exposé in itself.

This is totally OT, but I didn’t want to let any more time go by without posting it.
In a recent thread about healthcare, a gentleman named Michael posted the following comment:
Many of the old-timers here will remember Michael as the quick-witted “Scaramonga”, a frequent poster here dating back to the beginnings of Blogs for Bush.
Monday morning, March 31st, Michael lost his battle with COPD and passed away in his sleep. In spite of his medical condition, Michael blogged right up until the end, not only with comments here, but also regularly maintaining his own blog
I had the privilege of meeting Michael a couple years ago when my wife and I had lunch with him and his wife, Deb, at the Cracker Barrel in Columbia, MO, on our way to visit our daughter in Kansas. In addition to both being Navy veterans, Michael and I had a lot in common philosophically. I’ll miss him, but as Deb noted in her email to me yesterday, the pain is gone, and he’s in a better place.
Rest in peace, Michael Turner.

Thanks Spook.
All too often we confine ourselves to the shell of day to day living and forget that behind the cloak of flesh and bones is the human spirit. Live a little with a light heart and a smile – let God sweat the heavy stuff.

A truly sad story, but now he is in a much better place. God Bless Sir.

Spook,
So sorry to read about Michael, our prayers go out to his widow, may she have strength.
Not to be insensitive, but on the subject, I’ve noted that the polls up till now are predicated on either McCain v. Clinton, or McCain v. Obama as they must be. But, as long as there are still two democrat contenders the polling is deeply flawed. As long as each group of supporters believe their candidate will prevail they will express support for their candidate exclusively and claim to not support fully the other democrat candidate. The reality is as much as conservatives will hold our collective noses and vote McCain (a lousy Republican) democrats (liberals) will have no option but to support the democrat candidate whomever he/she is.
Not since the Age of Aquarius have the stars aligned to such an inevitable conclusion; if the democrats can’t win this election they deserve to wander forever in the political wilderness and consol themselves with their outlandish conspiracy theories.
7. SteaM | April 3rd, 2008 at 11:02 am
Sorry to have to go back to the topic but those are the rules.
Mark, you are very bitter and your heart is full of hatred regarding democrats.
Because of people like you and the corrupt candidates you support your party will continue to lose power.

Spook, sorry to hear that story. Wishes to the family and friends.
On topic…

Hope you didn’t pull any muscles doing all those contortions trying to come up with your explanation of a GOP victory.
Did you notice that when McCain became the presumptive nominee and all the Repubs were pissed and said they’d never vote for him, now there are those that are saying… yes I’ll vote for him.
Why do you accept that as fact, yet believe the Dems wouldn’t do the same thing with their candidate? I have heard over and over again that people like both the candidates and would vote for either. Sure some will get pissed if their person is not the winner, but all-in-all, people will realize it is time to get out of the GOP hole we are in.

The 2008 Presidential Race race:
Two distinct groups of voters will head to the polls in November. One group will be comfortable with the notion of a black President, the other group will not.
One group will be voting for Obama, the other group will be voting against Obama.
John McCain is of no consequence in this election, and if he wins he will owe his presidency to those who voted against the black guy.
A race between Hillary and McCain would have been interesting and issue driven, but a race between Obama and McCain will be nothing more than a race between the races.

Spook, thanks for letting us know about Michael. I didnd’t know he was Scaramonga, but I was really happy to see him show up on the blog lately and found his postings to be brilliant.
He was also an excellent balance to such as those who are trying, here, to re-crucify Bush in what is supposed to be a thread about the self-destruction of the Democrat Party.
Now let me see—-when Obama attends and supports a church for two decades, giving it money, sending his children there for spiritual education, he is still not in any way responsible for the virulently anti-American, anti-white, anti-Jewish comments of his own pastor, a man he has referred to as his personal spiritual mentor, as being like an uncle to him, a man he has repeatedly turned to for both spiritual and political advice.
But when someone whose only connection to Bush is that he is a Republican makes some hateful comments, this is supposed to reflect badly on Bush.
It’s this kind of gross manipulation of facts, this kind of obsessive determination to find the most grieveous fault with any conservative at any time for any reason, this dependence on gossip and lies and personal attacks, that mark the difference between the old-time liberal and the new, radical, Liberal—and which may mark the permanent split of the Democrat Party, as so many find these shenanigans deeply distasteful.
The radical Left appear to me to be political vandals, glorying in their ability to be destructive and never contributing anything positive or of value.

I’m convinced that you either never read any comments on this site from other “Conservatives” or even from Matt and Mark.
Hmm… manipulation of facts? You mean like Obama is a communist because he knew someone that was a communist? Or maybe that Obama will put Kenyan affairs ahead of U.S. affairs because he is a distant cousin of Odinga???
Hmm… determination to find the most grieveous fault? Do I need to list out the number of anti-Obama posts this site has put out in the last few weeks? Not to mention how you and others here are so obsessed with Obama’s preacher.
Hmm….. dependence on gossip?? You mean like spreading a rumor that Obama was a Muslim? Or that he doesn’t put his hand over his heart during the national anthem? Gossip like that?
So if you agree with what people are saying, then it isn’t political “vandalism”, it is fine?
Do you even realize how hypocritical you sound?
13. TiredofLibBullSh** | April 3rd, 2008 at 12:09 pm
I see the libs are going to make the election about race. Is this their fall back plan?
majoridiot, your candidates are trying to out-brag each other on who will be the one to unite this country (as if that will ever happen). How can they legitimately run as “uniters” when they are dividing their party?
Jane Fonda, unfortunately, is like Hillary and Kerry. Both are very divisive people. Fonda was very divisive during her infamous years. Fonda was very friendly with communists and has expressed her heavily socialist views. So has Obama, expressed his socialist leanings. This is not good for Obama because of it.
I love the libs way of reducing any question to “it’s no big deal”. If it’s “no big deal” then why are they quick and venomous with their responses?
14. Retired Spook | April 3rd, 2008 at 12:11 pm
John McCain is of no consequence in this election, and if he wins he will owe his presidency to those who voted against the black guy.
NeoClown, I’m sure that will be a minor factor, and that’s a sad commentary on racial bigotry in 21st century America; a bigotry, I might add that is only exacerbated by comments like yours. Unfortunately for Obama, many of those who will vote against him because of his race will be Democrats, which I happen to think is deliciously poetic justice, but that’s a whole other discussion.
I think, however, that you grossly underestimate the mindset of the average American voter, and the longer the Dem primary contest goes on, the more the voting public is going to learn about the philosophical differences between McCain and each of the Dems. A majority of people are simply not going to vote for someone as far left as Obama regardless of how fed up they are with GOP control of the White House. Hillary, OTOH, is a completely different story. She’s one of the most dishonest people to ever run for President, a fact to which her high negative approval numbers attest.

Gossip?
Uh, Joey, Obama’s father was muslim and because of it, Obama attended a madrassa for a number of years. He is named Barak Hussein Obama (GASP!) because his father was muslim. (Why are you afraid of his name?)So, before converting to Christianity, he was being raised practically a muslim.
There are reasons why he does these things that you ridiculously point out, Joey. He has not explained them as a candidate. The people have a right to know his views.
to libs, especially Joey, denial is a river in Egypt.
16. js | April 3rd, 2008 at 12:18 pm
They just havent figured out how Obama’s endorsement of his cousin in Kenya amounts to Obama’s endorsment of islam.

When Raila Odinga lost the presidential election last week (12/27) to Mwai Kibaki, he claimed the vote was rigged, whereupon his tribal followers went on murderous rampages such as in the town of Eldoret, where on New Years Day dozens of people were burned to death in a church set on fire… Throughout Kenya, hundreds of people have been politically murdered in the last few days.
…Raila has now made a deal for support from the Soviets’ successors as world-champion enemies of the West and democratic freedoms: Muslim fundamentalists… The Evangelical Alliance of Kenya has posted on its website a photograph copy of a Memorandum of Understanding, dated and signed on August 29, 2007, between Raila Odinga and Shiekh Abdullah Abdi, chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum of Kenya…
It pledges the support of Kenyan Moslems for Raila’s election. In return, as President of Kenya, Raila agrees to 14 actions, listed a) through n) on page two. Read them all, and be sure you’re sitting down. Here’s a sample:
b) Within 6 months re-write the Constitution of Kenya to recognize Shariah as the only true law sanctioned by the Holy Quran for Muslim declared regions.
g) Within one year facilitate the establishment of a Shariah court in every Kenyan divisional headquarters. [Note: everywhere in Kenya, not just in “Muslim declared regions.”]
…And here is the biggest non-surprise: Raila Odinga has, in his own words, a “close personal friendship” with Barrack Hussein Obama Junior. When Obama went to Kenya in August of 2006, he was hosted by Raila and spoke in praise of him at rallies in Nairobi… Obama’s bias for his fellow Luo was so blatant that a Kenya government spokesman denounced Obama during his visit as Raila’s “stooge.”

simply the truth joe stooge, no need to argue
21. js | April 3rd, 2008 at 12:48 pm
In short, Mr. Odinga in effect offered to Islamize Kenya in return for Muslim votes, despite the fact that Muslims make up only 10% of the population, compared to the 80% who are Christian. Mr. Odinga himself is nominally an Anglican, yet he signed a document that refers to Islam throughout as “the one true religion” and denigrates Christians as “worshippers of the cross.”
Whether it is likely, as Mr. Odinga claims, that his party won the election with such a program, only to have it stolen by Mr. Kibaki, I cannot say. Nor am I qualified to speculate about why Mr. Odinga threw in his lot with the Islamists. It should certainly concern us that one of Africa’s most stable and pro-Western countries is apparently threatened with the same grim fate that has befallen other East African states, such as Sudan and Somalia.
What, you will be asking by now, what does any of this have to do with Barack Obama? Well, Mr. Obama’s father came from Kenya and his son is proud to call himself a Luo. His Kenyan relations boast that, even if they cannot get a Luo into the Kenyan presidential residence, they can look forward to a Luo in the White House.
http://www.timothybirdnow.com/?p=262
ohh myy….gooness, is that familiar? his cousin is angelican, a good christian, father and husband too? and endorses islam as the one true religion…eeeeee….so obama like, im not making it up, we are at war with islam, all devices are to be used, including lie about faith
imagine, the US of A under obama, signing a treaty with al queda….after mr obama pulls our troops out of iraq and afghanistan….its not such a far fetched possibility….if we were total fool enough to elect the deciever
obama has a serious problem with the whole truth, we already documented that and didnt even need to get to the kenya ties to do it….he doesnt deserve our time, let alone our vote, but he is a dangerous man
22. Joe | April 3rd, 2008 at 12:49 pm

Presidential Candidate Barack Obama backs a Taliban Supporter in Kenya
Puh-leeze…..
Your claim (and that website’s claim) is that because Obama is related to a Muslim, then he must support Islamic Jihad???
I have a bridge to sell you if you are that gullible.
Hey keep on that manipulation of facts and depending on gossip to shoot Obama down. Almiranta might see that it ain’t the Liberals doing it.

there you go, with that stooge mentality again
what is it you dont think are fact? that bama’s active endorsement of a dingo was certified by his own words in kenya in 2006, or that the kenyan government called him a stooge?
you two might be related tooo ya know….two stooges in a pod….
30. Joe | April 3rd, 2008 at 2:25 pm
Funny js… the Kenyan Gov called him a “stooge”. You call me a “stooge”.
Are you sure you didn’t write the blog that you are quoting?
What I am debating is fact is that Obama endorses an Islamic Jihad. You sound like a fool for rabidly believing this.
31. Drew | April 3rd, 2008 at 2:29 pm
I’m not certain yet McCain is the BETTER man, but he’s certainly good. And something he said about building up our military infrastructure yesterday reminds of why that is:
“We waited too long to begin that buildup,” said McCain. “Had we begun to do it right after 9/11 — as we realized that we were now in a global struggle against a malicious enemy, or as we embarked on two wars, or even when it became clear to many of us that our flawed strategy and inadequate troop levels in Iraq were going to result in that conflict lasting far longer than anticipated — we would not be in the situation we are in now.”
I think this is why McCain is enethma to the Bush-style … ahem … “conservatives”: he gets it.
32. Gaijin | April 3rd, 2008 at 9:39 pm
JS,
Please provide a quote of Obama in which he states he supports Islamic Jihad. You guys are graspingat straws to justify your thinking that Obama is a Muslim.
BTW, Madrasah means school in Arabic, that’s it. Any kind of school kind of school can be called by this name. Have any of you actually seen a news story of a reporter who went to that school? Or, did you all just listen to the Fox News echo chamber? CNN sent a reporter, guess what, it’s just a school.
But hey you’re right, Obama is a scary black militant muslim who wants to implement Shariah law on the US. In fact, the whole Democratic party has already converted to Islam…we are all in on it. By this time next year, there will be a mosque where every church stands, children will pray 8 times a day to Allah at school and women will never drive a car again. (that’s the part that really pisses me off)
Yep, it’s only the most ingenious plan ever, ever.
Peace, Gaijin

Here’s some grade-A prime (expletive deleted )courtesy of TiredofLibBullSh** above:
Hey TiredofLibBullsh**, guess what? You’re the one who is FULL of (expletive deleted). Obama NEVER attended a Madras. He lived in Indonsesia for four years with his mother and Indonesian step-father (who was secular and never attended religious services of any kind). When he lived in Indonesia he attended a CATHOLIC school for the first three years, while at the CATHOLIC school he received CHRISTIAN religious instruction from the nuns who ran the school. When the family moved to a different area he attended a SECULAR local school attended by students of all faiths for his fourth year and last year in Indonesia. He did not receive instruction in Islam or any other faith at that school. He never “converted” from being a Muslim to being a Christian, as HE NEVER WAS ONE IN ANY SENSE WHATSOEVER. His only possible connection with the Islamic faith is that as a baby he was registered as “Muslim” on some documents since that was the relgion of his father (a man who he first met, briefly, at the age of 10).
So there you have it TiredofLibBullSh**. You are the one who is full of (expletive deleted), completely full of it. In making the inflamatory claim that Obama attended a “Madrassa” for a “number of years” you are also, unquestionably, a liar. (Ed. Note: This is a PG-13 rated blog)

35. Dennis | April 4th, 2008 at 12:39 am
Thank you, Southerner, for encapsulating concisely what Obama’s education in Indonesia actually consisted of.
Funny that Noonan, who takes such pride in his Catholicism, doesn’t take some kind of exception to these blatant misrepresentations of Obama’s early religious instruction.
On the other hand, scratch that. Noonan doesn’t care about facts, he just enjoys watching in the mud fly.
And finally, a tip of the hat to Michael. Even if we disagreed, he made it to the final curtain with his wits and dignity intact.

From the top: “Reporters no doubt are scanning Rev. Wright’s massive corpus of texts and DVDs for more hate speech.”
Yes, they have to scan the massive whole to extract the relatively small number of infractions of their pretentious standards of political correctness.
The strange thing is that so few out there (including Obama, unfortunately but understandably) are defending Wright for his condemnations of American excess of power. This whole tempest in a teapot reminds me of an incident recalled by Christian commentator William Grigg after all this hit the news:
___________
…The gospel of the Total State, as translated into the idiom of American Christianity, has rarely if ever been stated as bluntly as it was by William P. Merrill in this couplet published in the April 26, 1917 issue of Christian Century (just weeks after war was declared on Germany):
The strength of the State we’ll lavish on more,
Than making of wealth and making of war;
We are learning at last, though the lesson comes late,
That the making of man is the task of the State.
Difficult though it might be for some to understand, there was a time when doctrinally orthodox and socially conservative American Christian clergymen wanted nothing to do with statist sentiments of that variety, even — no, especially — when they took on a nationalist tenor.
One very suitable example was offered by Rev. Clarence Waldron of the First Baptist Church in Windsor, Vermont. Mildly Pentecostal in his worship style, Waldron was entirely conservative in his theology and moral views. He was also insurmountably opposed to American involvement in World War I.
In October 1917, Wilson, acting as Pontifex Maximus of the American Civil Religion, urged churches across the nation to decorate their sanctuaries in Red, White and Blue on the twenty-first and lead their congregations in singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Then a collection was to be taken up as part of “Liberty Loan Sunday,” with the mulcted proceeds to be sent as war tribute to Washington.
Waldron refused to play along. When the twenty-first arrived, he preached a gospel message in a chapel blessedly bereft of jingoistic adornments. As Vermont historian Mark Bushnell recalls, after the service a mob descended on Waldron in front of the church and forced the pastor to wrap himself in the flag and sing the National Anthem.
Shortly thereafter, Waldron was removed as pastor, in large measure because of suspicions about his “loyalty” — not his loyalty to Christ, or his fidelity to Christian precepts, mind you, but his loyalty to the “god” revered by adherents of the Social Gospel — the American State.
In December 1917, Waldron was indicted by a federal grand jury indicted for violating the Espionage Act. Passed the previous June, that measure imposed prison terms of up to 20 years for any act or statement perceived as willfully obstructing “the recruiting or enlistment service of the U.S.”
The specification against Waldron was that “he had once been heard to say ‘to hell with patriotism.’” To his undying credit, Waldron admitted on the stand that he had said those words — in condemnation of the cultish “Gott mitt uns” nationalism promoted by Kaiser Wilhelm’s regime in Germany.
“If this is patriotism,” a disgusted Waldron had told his acquaintances, “to hell with patriotism.”
Apparently, it was a crime and a sin in Wilson’s America to impugn nationalism of any variety:
Waldron was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison, eventually serving a little more than a year. Of the roughly 1,000 Americans convicted under the World War I Espionage and Sedition Acts, Waldron was the first to be imprisoned exclusively for his religious beliefs.
http://freedominourtime.blogspot.com/2008/03/rights-and-wrongs-of-reverend-wright.html
The Rev. Wright stands securely in a noble Christian tradition of standing up to the state, even at great risk to his own reputation, in condemning the value of nationalism over moral conscience.

you really missed a lot
the reality is, obama’s acts, and his words, and the omission of such words, show his intent
1- its not hard to find obama in kenya information, try it when your education catches up with your ability to type
maybe obama endorsed his cousin psychically, so that he would not have to mouth the words of endorsement, but endorse the islamic cousin he did, and it was reported world wide, so you tell us, was it psychic or just a slip of the tongue…
obama knows islam, knew his cousins involvement in the elections, and his families involvement in his tribes failed coop of kenya government in 1982, so yes, bama did it, he sure did you infidel!!
what you said is akin to endorsing hitler, and then adamantly denying that you endorsed the nazi’s and 3rd riech, so dont tell us there are flowers growing when its only a pile of horse manuer…
wake up
2- islamic schools are madrassah too, but who cares, there is sufficeint information documenting obama’s involvement in islam in indonesia, which he initially totaly denied, until faced with actual facts that he could not deny, so he was caught in ANOTHER LIE…..and obama himself then changed the story to reveal his apostacy from islam
only a muted ego would need to bring that up, its long history is well docuemented on Front Page Magazine

JS, you are just another willful liar. How is it you guys feel the need to depart from truth so frequently in order to argue your case? There is ZERO evidence to inidicate that Obama had an “involvement” with Islam when he lived in Indonesia (wonderful use of weasel words by the way). See my post above, liar. By using as a ’source’ an anti-Obama right-wing opinion-driven blog such as FrontPageMag you do nothing but show how desperate you are.
You want a source? Try an actual newspaper, not a hate-filled internet rag such as FrontPageMag. Here’s what The Chicago Sun has to say when they sent a reporter to investigate this issue:
SOURCE: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/chi-070325obama-islam-story,0,7180545.story
But hey, JS, it’s not surprising that we would get this lying garbage from you - in recent times you have claimed, among other things, that there are over 3 Billion Muslims in the world, that Europe liberated Iran from the Ottoman Empire (Iran was never even occupied by the Ottomans) and that The Book of Revelations is not in the Bible.
You consistently lie on this blog in order to make your ridiculous points. That shows nothing more than how desperate you are.

Right. It’s “all gone wrong for the democrats”.
Job numbers were just released for March - the US economy shed another 80,000 jobs. In addition, the job losses estimate for the first two months of this year was revised downward to 152,000 lost. Overall in his 7 years in office, this president has the worst job creation record since Herbert Hoover.
Also released was the latest Right Track/Wrong Track numbers. A whopping 81% of Americans think the country is on the wrong track, which is the highest level of discontent ever measured in the history of this poll.
Meanwhile, an unnecessary war of choice in Iraq enters its 6th year with no end in sight, draining our country of $12 billion each month just for ongoing operations. The poor performance of the Iraqi military in the quixotic offensive against Sadr last week - ending with a quick truce mostly on Sadr’s terms - reveal that the government in Baghdad wields very little power in its own country, and is not likely to “stand up” on its own any time soon. Fully 2/3rds of the American people think the war was not worth fighting in the first damn place.
All of this in turn means that the number of Americans who identify themselves as Republicans is the lowest level in a generation.
And to cap it all off, Mr Bush is now rated by most historians as the worst president of all time
Yep, things are really looking bad for democrats.
