What Really Happened in Basra? Another Corrupt Democrat Trying To Get Away With His Crimes

Stuff White People Like: Free Healthcare

April 7th, 2008 at 03:09am Mark Noonan

Another hilarious - and exceptionally insightful - post over at Stuff White People Like.

In spite of having access to the best health insurance and fanciest hospitals, white people are passionate about the idea of socialized medicine. So much so that they have memorized statistics and examples of how for-profit medicine has destroyed the United States.

But before you can exploit this information for personal gain, it’s important that you understand why white people are so in love with free health care.

The first and most obvious reason is “they have it Europe.” White people love all things European, this especially true of things that are unavailable in the United States (Rare Beers, Absinthe, legal marijuana, prostitution, soccer). The fact that it’s available in Canada isn’t really that impressive, but it does contribute to their willingness to threaten to move there…

    Why bring race into it?
Members of other races don’t want to go bankrupted from medical expenses either.

Recently read an AMA (?) survey that near 60% of doctors now prefer universal coverage.

BTW - legal prostitution is available in Mark’s home state.

also, I tried the (ridiculously) forbidden absinthe in Belgium while on active duty.

tastes like thick cough syrup which I didn’t finish…cause I wanted to quaf vast quantites of delicious Belgium brews anyway!

Another thing I do like about the European system is doctors receive bonuses for preventive care measures. For instance, if a doctor contributes to patients quiting smoking they get a bonus. There system also boosts the moral of doctors where they are not forced to make tough decisions on whether to treat patients because of liability issues or lack of insurance.

“also, I tried the (ridiculously) forbidden absinthe in Belgium while on active duty.”

Did you have sugar cubes with it? I’ve tried the ‘Red’ absinthe from the Czech republic. I didn’t see any green fairy’s or anything but it made for a bad hangover. Also, the absinthe in Canada is different from that in Europe. It has the hallucination compound removed and man is it ever bitter.

hey assembly - now that u mention it, I do recall using a sugar cube.

and that reminds me of folks sipping turkish coffee thru a sugar cube held between their front teeth. the old timers’ front teeth when clentched even formed a round hole from the cubes.

but I’ve never had the red, only the green, & I didn’t hallucinate…perhaps because I quickly moved onto those great Belgium beers!

I wouldn’t recommend drinking absinthe without sugar cubes present. It’s hard enough to stomach as it is. Sadly it didn’t make me hallucinate either, it was a bit of a let down. Belgium beers are great indeed. I’m also a huge fan of German beer and Pints of Irish Guinness both put Budwiezer and Canadian to shame.

Thats very interesting about folks sipping Turkish coffee through sugar cubes. I might have to look into that next year when I’m in Germany for Oktoberfest.

The fact is, socialism health care is an attempt to get communism in and make us uncompettive with the world and take away freedoms of individuals and the market. The media keeps spinning lies about how other countrys have things better, they say. Lies. We have the best health care in the world. So it cant’ be free, I’m not paying for other people to get sick, I just make reasoned lifestyle choices and take few risks with my health, unlike liberals who take drugs and want the help the downtrodden. Spare me.

    Gary,
thanks for say “screw you” to everyone if you everyone who can’t afford healthcare. You have it great, so who really cares about everyone else? Right?

This has nothing to do with an “attempt to get communism in”. That is just freaking stupid.

You aren’t paying for people to get sick? Wanna bet on that? Those who can’t afford insurance are using the ER. Who do you think is paying for that? Why do you think your insurance premiums are so high?

I love the sense of community you seem to have. Really nice.

“The fact is, socialism health care is an attempt to get communism in and make us uncompettive with the world and take away freedoms of individuals and the market.”

You might want to take a look at Japan, which has universal healthcare, and Toyota. While GM and Ford are losing billions of dollars, partly because of the cost of healthcare, Toyota has now become the largest and most profitable automotive manufacturer on the planet.

Where did you get that line anyway, Ronald Reagan on that old AMA LP from the 1950’s? Sounds very impressive, but just happens to be not true.

    Peace, Gaijin

The fact is, that Liberals cannot deny the truth, that socialism is a way to buy votes from the lazy and shiftless, who will burden the system with silly aches and pains and reduce efficiency. health care MUST be deleiverd by the market or it is no good. That’s why we have the best, and spare me the liberal bias stats you make up, I don’t believe them.

  • 12. Joe  |  April 7th, 2008 at 10:44 pm

yep… them lazy bastards will just make you pay more!
Gary… really… are you serious or is this an act?

  • 13. weefee  |  April 8th, 2008 at 4:46 am

Gary, yep the whole of the UK, France, Canada etc are all lazy and shiftless. I hve worked since I was old enough to legally do so and have made use of the NHS. Funnily enough I was seen straight away after collapsing at work despite it not really being a serious case. I received a high standard of care and at least know that I am guaranteed to receive treatment. Not everyone who falls sick is lazy and being a hyprochondriac and I quite happily pay my taxes to help those who couldn’t afford medical care otherwise. I would never buy extra private cover because I believe in the values of the NHS like most Britons. The NHS may have problems but it is still the most popular part of our welfare state and we are still proud that it exists.

Gary, I’m assuming A) your a millionaire who can afford the cost of cancer drugs on your own. or B) you maybe one of the most naive people on this blog. The fact is everyone will get sick at some point in their life this does not make them ’shiftless’ of ‘lazy’. The question with the US healthcare system is will they be covered when this happens or will they have to sell everything to prolong their lives? This is where the UK, France, and Canadian systems shine. People get coverage without having to worry about their financial well-being when / if they get better. Just like Weefee pointed out, ask anyone from these countries if they would prefer paying taxes or switch to the US style system. Though they may complain about the taxes, when push comes to shove I’m willing to bet there wouldn’t even be a choice in their minds, guaranteed coverage is not something you throw away because of taxes (which your going to get anyway).
