McCain Raises $15 Million in March
April 8th, 2008 at 02:21am Mark Noonan
WASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. John McCain raised more than $15 million in March for his presidential campaign, a top performance for the likely Republican nominee that still falls far short of the cash gathered by rival Democratic Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The amount was confirmed to The Associated Press by two campaign officials speaking on condition of anonymity because the numbers haven’t been made public.
One official said McCain intends to accept public financing in the general election - a sum of about $84 million. McCain donors are now being asked to supplement that public financing with donations to the Republican National Committee, with a goal of raising $120 million through a joint Victory Committee.
And, yes, it is far short of what the Democrats are raking in - but, fortunately, they are also spending money like water in their nomination fight. Broke and exhausted is just how we want the Democrats in September.
Meanwhile, we do have to help our man McCain out, and just this evening I ponied up $50.00. Isn’t it time that you, too, joined the battle? Head over to McCain’s website, and make a donation for victory.

Dear Senator McCain and Bill Frist
We want Mr. Mitt Romney for Vice President and we are conservatives.

Woo-hoo! $15 mil. Good job McCain.
Oh… by the way…
Another report on McCain’s fundraising…
That would be high-dollar fundraising making up most of his $15 mil. That means those people are probably maxed out.
Not much of a grassroots fundraising machine there.

Isn’t McCain already over the limit that he imposed on himself by accepting public financing?

Rana Quijotesca,
Yes, Senator John “Straight Talk” McCain, is currently in violation of the campaign finance law that bears his name. He was for public financing before he was against it.

Is that the same public financing Obama said he would take in the general? By the way how much is Obama spending per day compared to McCain?

By the way how much is Obama spending per day compared to McCain?
Well Rich… since McCain is running against nobody right now and Obama is running against Clinton, I would kind of expect Obama to spend more per day. Wouldn’t you?????
One more thing… a lot of people on this site were backing Romney. How much was HE spending compared to McCain on a daily basis? How much did he spend PER VOTE?
Nobody on your side seemed to care much about that.

Joe- I was not backing Romney. I pointed out his spending per vote numerous times. It is also irrelevant that McCain is not campaigning and Obama is. We’re talking about dollars and cents. If Obama is raising four times as much as McCain but is spending ten times as much per day due to Clintons’ Quixotic battle, that is a net advantage for McCain. Sure he will benefit from voter registration in these states, but every dollar spent against Clinton is a dollar democrats won’t be able to spend against McCain. Furthermore every dollar spent against Hillary is further isolating Clinton voters as this thing gets uglier and uglier.

Rich, how is it irrelevant that McCain is not campaigning against someone where Obama is? Why would McCain spend a dime right now?
So no… the fact that Obama is spending a lot more than McCain right now is a no brainer.
It is still a fact that mcCain’s donations are coming from much, much fewer people than either of the Dems. Mccain’s are coming from large dollar donors.
