Democratic Fat Cats Gunning for McCain

April 11th, 2008 at 04:03pm Mark Noonan

With the Democrats locked in an endless nomination battle, George Soros and the rest of the kook left are worried that McCain might emerge unscathed going into the fall campaign…and so Soros has hired the turncoat political hitman David Brock to smear McCain:

Ben Smith at the Politico has a good story today about a $40 million plan by Democratic outside groups to attack John McCain in the coming months while Democrats try to get their act together. The plan will be headed by David Brock, the former right-wing hitman turned left-wing hitman. Smith reports that Brock and Paul Begala met this week with George Soros — he of wanting to “level the playing field” — at Soros’ Manhattan apartment to go over the plan. Brock is said to be able to raise money for the effort where earlier groups failed.

Will it work? I don’t know - it failed miserably in 2004 against Bush, but Soros wasn’t using someone as talented as Brock to do the muckraking. Perhaps a new set of brass knuckles will bruise McCain in a way Soros was unable to bruise Bush in 2004? Only time will tell - but we on the GOP side have to be ready to respond to what will be a very nasty and very dishonest campaign against McCain. I’m starting to see, on the left, a level of vitriol against McCain matched only by their hatred of President Bush, so we can expect the left to do literally anything it can to derail McCain.

Get ready for a long, hard fight, fellow Republicans!

After miserably losing the House and Senate, the Republicans will do anything to keep the White House. After the very nasty and very dishonest Republican campaign against Kerry and McCain these tactics aren’t anything new. This is politics…..Soros has a right to do what he pleases with his money, as do the Bob Perry’s.

Kind of funny how when money goes one way its OK but if it goes the other way..not so good. McCain was a co-chair so he knew…..

Who needs “fat cats” to gun for McCain. We just need to bring up things that McCain says….

“Of those 80 million homeowners, only 55 million have a mortgage at all, and 51 million homeowners are doing what is necessary — working a second job, skipping a vacation and managing their budgets to make their payments on time,” he said. “That leaves us with a puzzling situation: how could 4 million mortgages cause this much trouble for us all?”

Yes. You, over there. yes you that guy losing your home. Quit your crying! Just work a second job and pay the damn mortgage!!!

I doubt they’ll stoop so low as to do what the Bush campaign strategists did in the 2004 South Carolina primaries when they push polled with the question:

“Would you be more likely or less likely to vote for John McCain for president if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate black child?”

    How low can you go?

This story’s headline could very well read:

“Democratic Candidate runs for President, Supporters Want Him to Win”

    Vicious.

Indeed–sort of like how David Brock was OK when he was a right-wing hitman (boy, did the wingers love him!), but now he is a terrible, evil person because he left the wingnut fold.

I do like how Noonan is suddenly very concerned about “fat cats,” though.

    *Chuckles*

I do find it interesting that Soros has hired this guy, but I’m not surprised in the least. McCain IS a weak candidate no ifs ands or buts about it. The only way I see him winning this election is for the Dems to REALLY screw up some time near the election. (Since people have such short frikin attention spans)

“Yes. You, over there. yes you that guy losing your home. Quit your crying! Just work a second job and pay the damn mortgage!!!”

Great advice Joe I would take it one step further and say don’t buy a house you cannot afford in the firts place. Home ownership is not a right guaranteed by the government. If I buy a porshe this week, will you help me pay for it in six month when the zero percent financing runs out? probably not. There are people that have been hurt by medical bills loss jobs etc, and I feel sorry for them. I do not feel sorry for the pieces of human excrement that lied on their loan applications, stopped making payments, tore up the house, squated for six months, and then have the gall to leave abandoned cats trapped inside and dogs tied up in the back to starve. These are the people we are supposed to bail out?

Damn, Rich beat me too it.

As far as it goes, the Dems really have nothing but personal attacks and smears. If the average American heard what they really want to do, they would run screaming from the Dems.

    InDaVa,

Did I say he can’t do it, or even that he shouldn’t? Its politics - which is a rough and tumble thing. It has been exceptionally poisoned lately from the left, and that is deplorable, but one can’t complain about a partisan fighting for his side.

What I’m saying is that it is going to happen, and we GOPrs will have to fight it out.

Of course, this is the kind of thing that Senator McCain was sort-of addressing with McCain-Feingold and found himself regularly excoriated by the Right. Times do change. Now, the Right has to hold their nose and defend him because all the candidates they would have preferred flamed out. Meanwhile, Senator McCain goes on merrily violating the law which bears his name.

Too bad all those poor liberals gave up thier guns when they tried to violate our constitutional right to own them, eh? That means only the liars are after McCain now…..(hows that go, when guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns….)

  • 15. congressive  |  April 12th, 2008 at 12:01 am

Yeah, but. Obama cosponsored legislation barring authorities from confiscating guns during an emergency, kinda like BUSH did during Katrina.

    Who’s giving up who’s guns?

  • 16. js  |  April 12th, 2008 at 12:48 am

lets see, he voted to ban gun sales within 5 miles of a school or a park…that effectively would shut down any gun shop in any major city in the US, and certainly if the only park in town was down tows in small town america, that puts the gun shop halfway to the next town

and then, he would also move to ban hand guns, along with semi automatic and automatic weapons

“As a former constitutional law professor, Barack Obama understands and believes in the constitutional right of Americans to bear arms. He will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns for the purposes of hunting and target shooting.”

not to mention that he would pass laws to insure you get a jail sentence if some one steals your gun….

and then he would let the victim of the guy that stole your gun sue the gun manufacturer after he put you in jail….gotta give it to this guy, he does flip flop, he just blatantly lies when he tells folks he is for gun ownership so you can shoot targets and go hunting…funny how the guy is….omission, the lie that got away…..

#15 are you delusional.????.Bush didn’t try to take guns in NO….that was tried by the local govt. …Democrats..

  • 18. Timothy Horrigan  |  April 12th, 2008 at 2:37 pm

Well, aside from the DNC itself, which is an entity of almost uinimaginable power, monolithically devoted to its far-left agenda, the Democrats have George Soros on their side. Soros is a unique figure… he is not just another billionaire, he is by far the richest and most powerful person on the planet. The only rich person who comes even remotely close to him is Bill Gates, who also espouses far-left views (although Gates stays out of electoral politics.)
