Tribute To Scaramonga
April 11th, 2008 at 11:36pm Matt Margolis
Last week, Retired Spook informed the Blogs For Victory community that Michael Turner, (aka Scaramonga) passed away last week, the morning of Monday, March 31. Michael blogged regularly at his own blog, and also was a regular in the comment threads here at Blogs For Victory. He posted his last comment here the night before he passed away.
Michael had actually been a part of our community since the early days of Blogs For Bush. Michael volunteered his time and energy to be our moderator. His help contributed to Blogs For Bush becoming one of the most successful blogs during the 2004 campaign.
I would like to offer my condolences to Michael’s entire family. I spoke with his wife earlier this week, and she remember how Michael helped with Blogs For Bush, spending night and day on it. He remained a die-hard Republican until he passed away.
In order to honor Michael, his life, and his contributions to B4B and Blogs For Victory, I ask our readers here to consider contributing to The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which supports the families of fallen and injured men and women of the Armed Forces.
Please click here to donate to The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, via their website.
You are also welcome to leave your thoughts here.

God bless you and rest your soul, Michael Turner.
You were one of the sharpest, smartest people I ever encountered and a very strong Republican. You will be missed, sir.

I am sure a post of Michael’s ,was one of the first that I ever read on any blog. He was a treasure. God speed, oh, good and faithful servant. May you rest in peace.

It is sad to see him go. I remember when we was filing for bankruptcy, unfortunately it was going to be denied because of Bankruptcy ‘reform’…medical bills were no longer a reason allowed to file for bankruptcy.
I just sent $250. It’s all I have.

Scaramonga always spoke his mind and let people have it with both barrels. Heck he even let me have it one time when I wrote that I was against smoking in public places. He was quick witted and suffered no fools but obviously believed what he wrote. In that aspect I think there is a little of Scaramongo in most of the posters that write here, conservative and liberals.

I will really miss Scara! In his heyday, there was no one better to counter the stupid remarks that show up here in the comments. After he left (and after I finally it), I was a regular reader of his blog. I had no idea he was so bad off, so the news of his passing is such a shock.

Ecclesiastes 1:1-18 - All Is Vanity
1The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. 2Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. 3What profit hath a man of all his labor which he taketh under the sun? 4One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever. 5The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose. 6The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits. 7All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full: unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. 8All things are full of labor; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. 9The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. 11There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.
its hard to top Solomon for wisdom, so let him speak it himself
who can add, or take away from this? yet there is one who has set it all into motion, as it was for Solomon, so it is today…

I was only familiar with Michael during the time that this was Blogs for Bush. I know during that time that we had discussions Michael seemed to have difficulty with those who held beliefs that differed with his on matters faith. During those times I tried to convey to him the importance of accepting Christ as his personal Savior, probably in some ways that I shouldn’t, that didn’t seem in a very Christian attitude at the time, and I regretted some of the things I had said more than one time after that. I had a couple of brief discussions with him at his own site Curious and Curiouser, apologizing for some of the things I said, and asked him if he would come back, he said, “nope, not on your life” and he asked the question, “You mean you enjoy all that hate?”
I don’t know if Michael accepted Christ before he died, only God knows that, but I pray that he did.
I could tell from reading Michael’s posts that he was a very intelligent person, and had the historical knowledge to put the Liberals at bay, and is the main reason I wanted him to return.
When he came back earlier this year, I hadn’t recognized the name at first, until I checked the url out … I also noticed something different, profoundly different than before he left … he seemed much more happy, with a brighter outlook on things.
I was going to address him by extending a welcome, but I was afraid too in the event that he might become upset and leave again, so I just continued on grateful for his return.
When Retired Spook delivered the news of his passing away, my heart sunk, after seeing that he was doing so well, or so it was in deed.
My prayers go out to all of Michael’s family for their comforting, healing and safety.
May God be with you and watch over you.
Rest in peace, Michael.
