The question I have is when are Democrats across the country going to realize that there’s less to Barack Obama than meets the eye … or the ears.
Posted by Matt Margolis at 10:06 AM
Right now, Matt, Barack Obama is your best ‘hope’ for a chance to get yourselves back on track.
Forget all the ridiculous distractions; the flag pin foolishness for example, and concentrate on the fact that you now have an individual running who has the capability of healing your country.
This nonsense of having to prove your patriotism is just one more hindrance thrown in the path toward recovery; and what is this American obsession with having to constantly show you are a patriotic citizen, anyway? I don’t get it.
Explain how Barack will heal and unite the country. It appears that he is unable to heal and unite his own party, so I am curious why you are so convinced that he is the messiah.
Is one reason because he is of a different skin color than you?

CO,
You keep saying that - “Obama can heal us”…how? What does he propose to do which would, say, make MoveOn and Vets for Freedom come together in a loving embrace? What is your definition of “heal”, and how is it that a conventional liberal with problems of mendacity going to be certainly better than John McCain - or even Hillary - at doing it?

5. neocon | April 19th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Wow, this Internet invention is truly miraculous; neocon can determine the color of my skin without a visual.
Anyhow… I think Obama can do a lot to mend the wounds GWB & Co. have created. Just his common sense approach to international affairs is more than ample evidence that he possesses qualities that have been sadly missing during the Bush presidency.
He is an intelligent individual with a good set of morals, free from the usual BS that seems to be part and parcel to being a politician.
Let’s face it, neocon, He would have to do his very worse to even come close to what y’all have been through during the Bush years.

I doubt if Jesus Christ himself could make ultra-conservatives & liberals come together in a loving embrace, Mark.
But if all of those disappointed folks who have lost faith in their leadership could once again feel proud to be an American, wouldn’t you agree, Mark; that would be a great and wonderful thing?

Matt, you generally amuse me, but now you’re running down my hood………….So before responding I went to Hub Politics which appears to be love’s labor from Massachusetts last self-proclaimed republican. A cursory examination showed me the standard winger-pointy head links along with a picture of Mary Jo Kopechne. So much for bias.
Matt please be advised, being a life long resident of the Commonwealth I can supremely predict the following:
John McCain hasn’t a prayer of winning Massachusetts. If at the convention neither Clinton or Obama get the nomination and the convention nominates a toaster oven, said small appliance will soundly beat McCain in November. Bet the house on it Matt!!!

George McGovern, eat your heart out. You have competition for your awesome showing in 1972. George won 17 electoral votes that year, 14 from Taxassusetts and 3 from D.C.

CO,
You’re not answering the question - how would Obama do it? What is it in his policy proposals which indicates that people will feel better about America? And, I mean aside from foreign lefties, like you…
12.
Mark Noonan | April 19th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
Marty,
No one is saying that McCain will win Massachusetts - but the fact that Obama and McCain are so situated less than 7 months before the votes indicates a weakness amongst core Democrats on the part of Obama. If Obama wins MA by a landslide of 55% to 45%, that is a pathetic showing - Kerry won it with 62%, Gore with 60%, Clinton with 61%. Its the difference between Dole winning ultra-GOP Indiana by 6 percentage points in 1996, and Bush winning it by 21 percentage points in 2004. Sure, there was never a chance that Clinton was going to win IN, but it was worrisome for Dole right off that he wasn’t polling 20 points or more ahead of Clinton in that GOP State…
13.
Mark Noonan | April 19th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
Marty,
You should note, for instance, that Hillary is polling 15 percentage points ahead of McCain in the same poll - still weaker than most Democrats, but more in line with normal Democrat polling in the State. Obama is going to have to figure out quick just why he’s not appealing to very large swaths of the Democratic electorate.
14.
neocon | April 19th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
CO,
What Mark said. Enough with the platitudes, what specific plans does Obama have to heal the country?
And if you think he is different then other politicians, you haven’t been paying attention lately.

Obama will change the way we do business.
Edwards would be a better president, but Obama will do.
How about Edwards as Attorney General.
Robert F Kennedy JR as Secretary of the Interior.

problem with obama is that you can not trust what comes out of his mouth
he is a liar, and a snake in the grass….his history is painted with associations with political corruption, and he is good at it, better than hillary and billary from what it looks, a professional Chicago politician
he is a made man in the arena, and ranks right up there with the best of them, yet, we want to think he can cure america of its ill’s…when he didnt lift a finger to cure chicago of the outfit? the mob is an intricate part of the government in chicago, and nobody becomes a politician without thier approval, or a cop for that matter…

2nd. “polls” oh, please. have we never read any books on poll by design?
3th. obama? he doesnt have enough to be even a CEO. he is where he is today because of the groups he join to do so. but really i do like him, sorry he took the path he did to get there. i really hope he can rid himself of them and be the good human i think in heart he is, if so i will look for him in 2016 election.
have a beautiful day.
How about a headline, Obama leads McCain in Iowa, Nevada, New Mexico and tied in North Carolina.
Bottom line is… polls in April mean nothing. Mark, I believe even you said that just last week when you claimed that McCain was popular in Colorado (which by the way is listed as a tie in the above link).
Having lived in Boston my whole life, I can pretty much guarantee that McCain will not win this state. Maybe it won’t be a 20 point win, but it WILL go to Obama or Clinton and it most likely will be double digits.
