Sisters of Fallujah

April 23rd, 2008 at 09:30am Mark Noonan

More evidence of the complete failure of our mission in Iraq - via Blackfive:

It has become desperate times for the insurgents in the al Anbar province. Backed up against the ropes and badly beaten, they are trying to resort to any dirty trick that they can come up with… even if it means sneaking bomb-making material with women and children past the Coalition and Iraqi forces’ security.

These tactics have proven to be futile thanks to the brave women known as the Sisters of Fallujah who selflessly help protect their city and stop any insurgents’ attempt to harm their community.

The Sisters of Fallujah, a program which started Dec. 15, has local women working along-side Marines and Iraqi Police at each Entry Control Point, which allows inbound traffic and people into the city. They are at the forefront of their community’s defense where every woman, child and their belongings are searched by them. They look for any suspicious items that could possibly be bomb-making material or pose a threat such as copper wires, washer machine timers, electronic devices or even large sums of money.

In the past, Marines and Iraqi Police could not search the women due to the cultural barrier where men are prohibited to touch women. The women were even able to stay in their vehicles while the men were searched. This created a gap in the city’s security. But with the Sisters of Fallujah stepping up and doing their part for the community, they have overcome such barriers.

“We all want to help our city,” said 43 year-old “Sarah” a Sister of Fallujah, who uses a pseudonym to protect her name and family. “We are doing this job because we want to help our country, our people, our husbands, and to make Fallujah a safer city in the world.”

“Sarah” like many other Sisters of Fallujah is a resident of Fallujah and a working mother. She works every week; two days on, two days off, with a salary of $500 a month. She has seven children and hopes to one day build a new home for her family.

“My husband likes that I’m working here,” she said. “He knows that I’m helping my people and my country.”

These women’s sense of family and community, and wanting to keep them safe has made an impact in bringing peace to the region. They have shown that their contribution is invaluable.

“The Sisters of Fallujah are very essential to our efforts,” said Capt. Waleed Naji Mohammad, Iraqi Police ECP chief. “Before, no one could search the woman. Now with the Sisters of Fallujah, we are able to prevent insurgents from smuggling anything harmful with the women and children. They are doing a good job at keeping the city safe.”

One of the great falsehoods of the past five years has been two-fold falsehood about Moslems…to the lefties, the Moslems are all about group pride, and thus there’s no way for us - as outsiders - to implant our democratic way of life; to conservative critics, the Moslems are fanatics who want to fight everyone, all the time. There are various shadings of these two views, but in a lot of ways such false views underpin so-called “anit-war” sentiment (the other major element is just pure hatred of America - far more prevalent in the left side, but even the right has its frothing-at-the-mouth, blame-America-firsters). In truth, the Moslems are - suprise, surprise, surprise! - human beings…and as most human beings don’t want their families blown up, their daughters raped, their sons conscripted to fight Americans or their way of life wrecked beyond recall, it stands to reason that after a while most Iraqi’s would say, in effect, “enough is enough”…and as this point was reached just as we shifted tactics on the ground, we’ve reaped the benefit…and so have the Iraqis.

My hat is off to these brave Iraqi women who have decided that their own lives are not as important as the safety and happiness of their nation - they are fighting alongside our magnificent men and women, and it would be the worst sort of cowardice and idiocy to back out now.

Sam, why do you call this story a lie? What is the source that tells you it is a lie? Until you can cite a source, and prove what you are saying you are the one who is being either naive or foolish. Just because you do not want to believe that there are groups in Iraq who are working to secure a peaceful and free nation, does not mean that they do not exist.

The liberals keep saying this is an unending and unwinnable war. They seem to have forgotten that the war ended in total victory over Saddam Hussein on May 1, 2003… FIVE YEARS AGO! Have they forgotten that glorious day when our Commander in Chief flew out in a small plane to the USS Abraham Lincoln to address his fellow fighting men and women and the whole world, to tell that that Freedom had Prevailed over the mighty forces of Evil? Have they forgotten the words on that banner?:

    MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

The liberal also claim that over 4000 of our finest men and women have died in Iraq. They forget that many of our finest men and women have chosen to fight for freedom in the civilian sector: for example, Presidential daughter Jenna Bush and her fiancee Henry Hager whose love story has captivated the nation.

But more to the point, the libbies refuse to admit that the 4000-plus figure is highly exaggerated. Even by their own admission, this figure includes deaths by non-combat causes. That knocks the figure down to a mere 3,299 right there, since almost 20% of the deaths are from “non-hostile” causes. The official figures include deaths caused by injuries in seven other countries aside from Iraq… as well as injuries suffered on the international waters in the Gulf region. So some unknown number of that mere 3,299 was caused by events OUTSIDE Iraq. Also, most injured troops are airlifted to Germany or the USA… so we have another unknown number of troops who in fact.

Even ignoring the geographic factors I just mentioned, we see that the libbies’ number is exaggerated AT LEAST 40-fold! The number of those “Killed in Action” as of V-I Day, May 1, 2003 was a mere 109. (And that includes a large percentage in fact didn’t die in Iraq.)

109 Killed in Action… that’s all it took to squash the mighty Iraqi military and liberate the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein!

  • 8. Friend of js  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 2:26 pm

Timothy is almost certainly a spoof, but Poe’s Law does come into play in situations like this. Is Jeremiah for real? One would certainly hope not, but there are crazy people out there who say the type of crap he does so how can you easily tell?

  • 9. Kahn  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 2:28 pm

sam is NOT a liberal. He’s a Mideastern America haying leech going to school here because the schools his much loved islamofascist system produce are worthless.

I wish he would go home an stop leeching off us. Is that what the Koran tells you to do Sam? Hate your hosts? I’m pretty sure NOT. Not a very good Muslim, are you?

  • 10. Some Assembly Required  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 2:36 pm

Poe’s Law, First I’ve heard of that… I wish I could say that same thing about Murphy’s… But yes, I’d have to claim Poe’s on Timothy.

  • 12. sam  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 4:08 pm

I am originally from iran, i was born and raised in france, and moved to the US when i was 14. I am 26 now.

  • 13. OperationChaos  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 5:29 pm

PO, sam is from The People’s Republic of Dumba**es. In fact, he’s the prime minister. IOW, sam’s the head dumba**…

  • 14. Danish Artist  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 5:33 pm

    Sam,

If it wasn’t for Europe, the U.S. and oil in Iran you would be in your tent on a sand dune, picking camel (expletive deleted) from between your toes.

In fact, the whole middle east would be a collection backwards (expletive deleted) countries, if you were capable of forming them.

    loser

  • 15. Kahn  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 5:35 pm

Well that explains a lot sam. (You ARE Muslim right?)

Why did you run away from Iran and then France? If the Muslim nations are so great, and this one sucks so bad… why be here?

You’re OK with the martyrs brigades that would sweep minefields with their bodies ahead of your troops?

How many Nobel prizes have gone to Iran? Any great inventions there you can think of?

Would an American living in Iran be free to hate them as much as you hate us?

Do you still beat your wife? Or are you not married yet?

  • 16. OperationChaos  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 5:36 pm

I am originally from iran, i was born and raised in france,…

A French-Iranian, imagine that. Evidently, sammie-jo’s not one of those freedom-loving Iranians I’ve heard so much about. He does fit the French stereotype.

    Naw, I like People’s Republic of Dumbasses more. That’s where sammie-jo’s from…

  • 17. Kahn  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 5:36 pm

Wait a second sam - you’re originally fro Iran and you were born in France? Doesn’t that make you French?

  • 18. sam  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 5:40 pm

my father is persian, my mother is french, i was born in france. So i am half persian, half french. And all these people here talk down about france, and Iran…great…who cares…

the fact still remains, the US is losing in Iraq, and Iran will have its nuclear technology in the end.

And i am proud of the fact that I took advantage of my opportunities and am more successful than most dumb american middle class families.

Kahn, like I said, you can be an internet tough guy, i feel sorry for you, because you retort to personal attacks instead of addressing the issues. keep it up, im sure that will change the facts on the ground. hahahahaha..loser.

  • 19. Some Assembly Required  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 5:44 pm

sam, gotta ask, what made you foster so much hate towards America and it’s troops? I mean sure the US is not perfect, but no nation has been or ever will be. France is after doing some terrible things throughout history, as have Britian or any other society which has tremendous amount of power to yield. So I ask you specificly, what gives?

  • 20. OperationChaos  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 5:46 pm

Good catch, Kahn. sammie-jo, how were you “originally from iran” if you were “born and raised in france?”

    PRD, that’s where sam’s from…

  • 21. OperationChaos  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 5:55 pm

Yeah, sure, sammie–if we’d just leave the Middle East, all the nice Islamofascists would stop the caliphate, huh? They’d just love us–and Israel–to death, huh?

    You’re an idiot. PRD…

I completely understand where you’re coming from here. Before Bush, the US had a fairly good standing with the world as I saw it. The turn-around started with the Clinton impeachment over the BJ. I think that made the US the laughing stock of the World, well, definitely Europe anyway. The World was with the US in regards to Afghanistan 100%. Retribution and punishment for those who were responsible is a must for any country. Iraq on the other hand combined with the controversy of the 9/11 official report and now the sanctioning of torture pretty much speaks for itself. So yes, I understand completely how you can disagree with US policies. I have to say though, bashing the US troops is something I do not agree with, but then Coke vs. Diet Coke right….

I recently watched a clip of an Al Jazera (sp?) reporter talking about what a fiasco the whole Iraq war was. Nothing new right, but what really struck me was the comment that he made when asked if anything could stop the US. He paused for a second and replied ‘The people of the United States’. This really echoed with me. It showed though this man maybe against the US he understands it’s system of government is something to look up to and work towards.

Some posters here are way out to left field, theres no denying it. I come here purely for entertainment value most days. It’s almost like free therapy when you start to think maybe your going crazy. Come here and read for 5 minutes, suddenly, maybe not so much.

I think Joe described it best a little while back ‘Trainwreck’ you know it’s terrible but you just can’t turn away.

  • 25. Kahn  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 8:54 pm

Assembly, cozy with an anti-America hating “Persian” (my mistake, NOT an Arab)?

Sam, well I did the Marine thing and I’m pretty successful. But whatever, we had to goad you to get you to admit where you were from - which you were still confused about. Why the fear? Why the refussal to just be…. honest? What is so bad about being honest Sam?

You’ve been here 14 years, and you don’t claim to be American? Interesting. Here legally?

You’ve never even been to Iran, have you? Or to the middle East? I’m sure they’d welcome you over there. Why not go? Successful, smart, honest. Yah, you’d fit right in. If we are so bad, and they are so great why live here with us ignorant hate filled loser Americans?

SAR, you could with him - pip.

Oh - difference, I have seen Iran.

  • 26. sam  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 9:00 pm

Kahn, the ignorant american is here again…

I am here legally or else i could not practice law you idiot.

second of all, i have been to the middle east many times. I have been to dubai, kuwait, and Tehran. All times with my father to go sight seeing and visit some friends he has over there.

Who cares where im from, or what I do, the facts still remain the facts. You are the one that can’t discuss my positions with me or with anyone else for that matter, so you choose to attack me personally, and divert the topic to where im from and why im here……

I am here because I like to take advantage of your country, and make money, and live comfortably. But make no mistake, I have no love lost for your country. i feel sorry for you kahn, your just can’t discuss the issues, so you retort to personal attacks.

Contrary to your beliefs, the people in the middle east are hospitable and normal. its your policies that turn them against you and make them hate you.

  • 27. Some Assembly Required  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 9:03 pm

Ok Khan, you remember a little while back when that whole Obama’s pastor thing was on the go. How we kept telling you that it’s possible to have reasonable discussions and be friends with people that you do not AGREE with EVERYTHING that they say….

This is what is known as practicing what you preach. You really should take notes because you certainly do preach a lot.

One more thing, if you had be paying attention to the conversation you would understand ’sam’ does not actually hate America, just it’s current POLICIES… big difference.

    Isn’t that sweet?

So SARah, sammie doesn’t hate this country? Maybe if you were so preoccupied by (expletive deleted)-kissing you would have read this:

“Off course i have no loyalty to this c ountry. I used this country to get my undergraduate, and JD/MBA degrees. I make a great living and have a wonderful life, BUT I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS COUNTRY BURN for all the crimes it has committed.”

    Burn? Wow, for disagreeable policies?

Wow, SAR this is new low for you!!! Now go, I am sure sammie is lonely!

DA, Jealous? What if sam is a girl? In any event i’d still be getting more action then you probably will in the next 5 years. So I can understand your resentment.

I was speaking more towards an actual conversation as opposed to heated insults hurled towards each other. You know, you piss me off so I come back trying to piss you off. Oh wait, to you thats debate, my bad.

  • 48. kimberly4victory  |  April 23rd, 2008 at 10:42 pm

I definitely agree, Mark!! While I can’t kick his a$$, I can cause him some pain at his job. :-)

Daughters of Iraq is being created because of the success of the Sisters of Fallujah!!

The U.S. military is expanding efforts to bring Iraqi women into the armed civilian groups that it is funding and which commanders have credited with increased security in some areas.

Officials late Friday announced that some 30 Iraqi women would comprise the first “Daughters of Iraq” group to be formed in areas south of Baghdad. The U.S. military had dubbed the armed groups — which include nearly 100,000 members throughout the country — as the “Sons of Iraq.”

While mainly Shiite, some of the groups are Sunni-led. The U.S. military says they are instrumental in guarding their neighborhoods, setting up checkpoints and finding roadside bombs.

Officials with the 3rd Infantry Division, which commands U.S. troops south of Baghdad, called the formation of the first women’s group within the so-called “Sons of Iraq” a “bold step in its evolution.”

The female group will be in the city of Yusafiyah, which had long been an insurgent stronghold and scene of battles with U.S. forces. The “DOI,” as the military referred to them, “would be able to search other females at security checkpoints,” which Iraqi cultural norms do not allow men to do.

  • 54. Mark Noonan  |  April 24th, 2008 at 12:48 am

    neocon,

No problem - I tend to put up with a lot, and insults directed at me are the easiest to deal with - but Sam was just insulting everyone, and denigrating the United States of America as an entity. Enough of that - we might, God forbid, have to fight Iran one day…but I won’t insult Iran, or the Iranian people…I’ve known too many Iranians in my life, and I’ve been pleased with each of them, except this Sam person…if he really is Iranian.

I feel a bit sorry for him, to be that boorish; must be a miserable life he leads.

  • 55. Kahn  |  April 24th, 2008 at 2:19 am

SAR, you better go back and read Sam’s posts again. He hates us. He hates our military. He hates the way we live. YOU pay attention sir. YOU read his posts.

I know I went out of bounds a little bit to goad this whacko into admitting his history and frame of reference. For the record, YOU agree with him.

What debate point you think I should cede? That Iran should have nukes? That our Marines can’t win and have been massacred by the holy Jihadist armies? Give me a break.

Oh, and I’ve seen you throw some insults around also, so drop it. You agree with someone who has posted here how funny it is when Americans die. Good choice of friends.

  • 56. Kahn  |  April 24th, 2008 at 2:24 am

Mark, Kimberly, et al. Sorry for the crap I had to post to get that jerk to expose himself. But, well Christian forgiveness and fine and everything. But sometimes my inner Marine just wishes it could deal with jerks like that differently.

Stress is the condition caused by not kicking the butt of someone who desperately needs it. And my doctor told me to lay off the stress. Sooo, well there ya go - it’s medical.

You got me. It was a statement which was shocking and appalling. Instead of reacting with anger and resentment I questioned why sam would say it and harbor hatred towards the US. If you noticed what followed was a fairly calm a reasonable discussion for a couple of posts. You tell me DA, which created a better result? You managed to get sam banned sure, but maybe if you had talked to him reasonably you could diminish his hatred. Again, though I DO NOT AGREE with everything sam said, I want to understand why he said it. Understanding is the first step towards peace. I apologize if I insulted you or anyone else earlier. Sometimes you just get caught up in the moment.

    46. Mark Noonan | April 23rd, 2008 at 10:36 pm

al Jazeera for the Middle east is a lot like Fox news for America. I didn’t say anything about its creditability or whether I believed any reports from them. Just that I was stunned that a reporter from the middle east admired America but disagreed with American Foreign Policies. This reporter acknowledged the US is too powerful to be defeated in conventional warfare. The only way to stop the US would be from the inside, it’s people. Who he seemed to think were reasonable as well. I had hoped that you would agree with me here, but I guess I misjudged you a little bit.

Kahn, let me clarify. The only thing I have agreed with sam on was that US policies are failing and are part of the reason why there is so much hatred and resentment towards the US. I Throw out insults to, I’m human and can get caught up in the moment just like you. I’ve said several times that I DO NOT AGREE with BASHING AMERICAN TROOPS. There are more effective ways to make a point then to discredit the men and women who fight to defend the US. Personally I’d rather focus on the men who sent them there Lambs leading Lions….

  • 59. js  |  April 24th, 2008 at 8:04 am

its actually our enemies benefit for the us population to despise islamists, even though its hard not too, because then it makes it easier for china to ply thier schemes to undercut us all…yet..when the dog is finished with the left hand, it will certainly bite the right one because thats its nature….even the soviets running russia today have full understanding of this…

  • 60. kimberly4victory  |  April 24th, 2008 at 9:21 am

No apologies necessary, Kahn. It’s obvious you love our country and when someone starts insulting her, it’s okay to defend her! My stress-relief is taking a walk around the block. It really helps!! :-)

SAR: Although I think it’s admirable you wanted to find out why Sam harbored such anger, I’m afraid discussing it with him wouldn’t alter his opinion and hatred. It’s sad to see someone filled with so much anger and hatred toward another country and it’s people. I don’t believe his anger/hatred stems from just our foreign policies either. It’s in his upbringing - years of constant US bashing and hating - that formed his opinion.

    sam,

I am guessing you got beat up a lot in grade school. No one with your level ignorance and arrogance would have survived a normal American school environment.

When you consider the depth of sams stupidity (of course he is an attorney, so it explains a lot), you get a sense at how much of a failed education system we have. And of course that industry is largely controlled by liberals, so again, makes perfect sense.

  • 62. neocon  |  April 24th, 2008 at 10:11 am

I am not attacking you dear. I am merely defining you as you are just one of many mindless minions. No need to be so defensive, as you mature, you’ll realize the extent of your ignorance.

Hillary has recently stated that she would “obliterate” Iran. So regime change may not achieve your desired result. I am also amused by your “regime change” reference. It speaks well towards your oppressive mindset.

  • 63. neocon  |  April 24th, 2008 at 10:40 am

“What you don’t realize is that the people in those countries hate the US policies…” Samantha

So. I didn’t realize that the US needed to adopt and subscribe to policies that appease other countries. This statement again speaks a lot towards your complete and astonishing ignorance.

    Keep digging sam.

sammie is getting a little hot under the bhurka!

He talks about debate and issues, and whines about attacks while starting the whole exchange.

Hey, sammie, I have a crying towel for you.

“i never said adopt policies to appease other countries. just don’t support their oppressive government and help keep down their populations by supporting those puppet oppressive governments. ”

oppressive governments, you mean like Iran?

We are hated because we are successful through hard work, capitalism and our citizen’s drive to improve their lives.

Iran is “successful” by sending their citizens out of country to get educated. You know what’s it like, but then again you would not be allowed into the country.

  • 66. js  |  April 24th, 2008 at 12:25 pm

you really think he is iranian? im sniffing out a chinese commie here…stirring unrest against islamists…not that he really needs too, but he sure sucks defending the lot of em’….

  • 67. js  |  April 24th, 2008 at 12:29 pm

evil men hate freedom and liberty sam…they love totalitarian dicktatorships and tyranical theocrats though…like you do….but thats just expected…is this the best you got….pretty much an amatuer you are….you ever come up with an original though maybe you would change your name, eh? instead of just hawkin the same ole alligator tears, over and over….

  • 68. js  |  April 24th, 2008 at 3:14 pm

see?…what i said was absolutely proven by your insidious denial of the truth…its obvious that your assault upon my spelling isnt the impediment in your mind to find the truth…or you wouldnt be able to read it…yet…you flounder at the bottom of the mud pit with hate speech against americans…it just shows what a true infidel really is…the ignorant…rumor mongoring jackals that have no business near a keyboard…

I’d agree with that assessment. I just like to think that everyone is fairly reasonable and will listen to logic. All it takes is to find some common ground and move from there. Who knows, maybe I’m naive, or maybe society has lost it’s way somewhere in between fast food restaurants and fashion television. In any event, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt as much as I can.

  • 70. Plantation Owner  |  April 24th, 2008 at 3:30 pm

so sammie, you are saying that Iran is not an oppressive government?

sammie whines: “im the amatuer, this coming from a guy who can’t spell, and who writes his posts in one long run on sentence.” (full of punctuation and grammatical mistakes).

    run on sentences like these?

“oppressive governments like Saudi Arabia, like Jordan, like Egypt, like Kuwait, Dubai, those countries are YOUR surrogate states, and have NO human rights for their people and oppress them on a daily basis.”

“You are hated because the very freedom you say you want for everyone, you deny people in the Middle East by supporting their corrupt governments and supporting their oppression through those governments.”

    Yep, you’re the amateur!

  • 71. kimberly4victory  |  April 24th, 2008 at 3:43 pm

Big difference between Iran’s and the US incarcerated … In the US, they receive a fair trial and are judged by their peers. In Iran, hang ‘em and ask questions later.

  • 72. Plantation Owner  |  April 24th, 2008 at 3:46 pm

Wow, sammie, so many words so little substance.

Oh, I forgot, Iran does not incarcerate their criminals. They just execute them!

I remember the Iranian followers of Khomeni. They kicked out the legitimate government of Iran in favor of the radical one. The self appointed leader in the form of Khomeni. Happily accepted? Hmmmm, that’s debatable. Just because they are elected does not mean they are not oppressive. The libs say Bush is oppressive.

There are those in Iran who are unhappy with the government similiar to those who were unhappy with the Shah. What if there is another revolution and they happily accept the new leader?

“seriously, you keep on dodging the question, and keep on trying to change the subject.”

Uh, dumb-ass, there was not a question in the last post directed at me.

    Try again, amateur.

  • 73. kimberly4victory  |  April 24th, 2008 at 3:50 pm

PO: You’re right about another revolution in Iran. It’s coming. The sooner, the better.

  • 74. js  |  April 24th, 2008 at 3:53 pm

what is it about oppression that you miss there oSAMa?…the sex slave industry of iranian women has thrived since the fall of the shah, and execution of women who are accused of adultury because they were raped has never been more real….but if you consider that they also, like the arabs and yourself, think its ok to sodomize each other, but definetly should be killed when they “fall in love” like typical homosexuals…then your right…there is no oppression…yet..the dinge of the morality police running kids down and beating them senseless for listening to jazz or rock smites that scent of decency, no? or the barbers that go to jail for thier talents of shearing the disgustingly filthy roach nests you call beards from the faces of honest guys that really dont want or need them…oppression is like you do here…you eke out the quaintest of lies to justify your stench, imposing ignorance of decency and honor upon the crowd who, while tolerant of you back woods no-talent wannabe’s, would just as soon as see you tarred and feathered and run outta town on a rail like thier fathers and grandfathers before them would have already done…

  • 75. Kahn  |  April 24th, 2008 at 5:38 pm

Sam, I wrote your employer also.

If you were not LYING (a distict possibility) then deal with it.

  • 76. kimberly4victory  |  April 24th, 2008 at 5:47 pm

SAR: I like to give people the benefit of the doubt as well. However, you must admit, the guy is an a$$. He may tend to lean left, but when all is said and done, he hates America and ALL Americans, left included.

He doesn’t seem to realize or understand that we cons and libs disagree but if someone attacked our country again, we will stand together united as Americans. I’ve always said I am an American first, party comes second, and I am sure you and other liberals would agree.

Kahn: I am wondering if he is indeed a liar. Think about it. He states his nationality, age, colleges, exact place of employment. He either has a few screws loose or is a liar. I tend to think it’s both!

  • 77. Some Assembly Required  |  April 24th, 2008 at 6:13 pm

Yup, I’d admit that Kimberly, quite the a$$, no question. Also, I’m pretty sure sam’s not a lawyer and may very well be 10 years old.

I completely agree with you about standing together. It’s the one thing that makes the country so great. No matter what we may think of each other at times, when push comes to shove we stand by and up for each other… Except for Katrina… (sorry, couldn’t resist). For or against the War or Bush, no one wants to see an American life lost.
