The word is that the economic stimulus checks are being mailed out today. So, I pose this question to the Blogs For Victory community: what do you plan to do with your rebate check?
UPDATE: Just a quick note… direct deposits are going to eligible people over the next 3 days.. checks will be mail soon.

I’ll stock up on gasoline, enriching the evil oil companies!

I recommend to the people of the nation, in my opinion, not to spend the so-called stimulus check on stuff but to pay off your credit cards, and as additional money for your home loans. Buying stuff will not help you at all. Also If you have no debt then put it in a savings account for a rainy day these are my opinions on what to do with the so-called stimulus checks.

I plan to donate my check to Planned Parenthood. After the misogynistic attacks on women the past 7 years, I think PP needs it.

I am putting 100% of it towards a credit card payment.
Sure, it won’t stimulate the economy to do so but it will help me get out of debt sooner so that hopefully in two or three years I will be able to have my money in my pocket. Currently I pay a lot of interest which goes right into the pockets of CEOs whos job it is to make sure they get as much money out of me via interest on credit cards as possible. These companies are the ones who pay off Congress and donate to presidential campaigns to make sure their predatory practices are unchecked.
So yeah, screw the credit card companies. I’m putting my stimulus check towards breaking away from them.

Here’s a better question, Mark:
Does anyone think this stimulus package is a good idea in terms of correcting the “slowing” economy? Or is it like a bandaid that the nation cannot afford to purchase.

Take your money to the casino and bet on black. Hey you didn’t work for it in the first place so a five hundred dollar spin might double your money you didnt have anyways. Or you whiney liberals could go buy voter id cards for bums.

SteaM, it’s just disguised as a ’stimulus package’. What it really is is an evil underhanded Republican attempt to reduce the amount of dollars that American taxpayers have to pay. Karl Rove knew he couldn’t turn to the Democratically controlled Congress to ask for an across the board tax cut, so instead he deviously devised a plan to get Congress to agree to just give back the tax dollars.
Of course the Democratically controlled Congress will ask for the people to pay more in taxes next year to make up for the plan, but with Rove working with McCain to secretly devise a plan to reduce spending by Congress, they will likely convince the Democrats in Congress that the people failed to spend their checks on anything but credit card debt and therefore will need another round of ’stimulus’ in order to assure them their jobs.

Doug,
Maybe.
I just think its a way for Bush to keep the economy out of a technical recession long enough for his term to end. Just like how we are keeping the surge going in Iraq as a bandaid.
After that, everything will just be blamed on the Democrats. Will people believe that and blame the democrats for everything? Maybe. Maybe not. They shouldn’t since it isn’t all their fault. The Bush administration and 109th Congress were the ones who were in charge for the first 6 years of Bush’s presidency. The last two had a Democratic controlled Congress where they had a very small majority and have to fight with the Republicans and presidential vetoes. They also have to fight the multibillion dollar special interests the whole way also.

Jackie, is your Planned Parenthood donation going to be for every aborted black baby too?

Oddly enough I’m with Magnum and SteaM on this one. Though not as anti-buisness as SteaM sounds. O.O!
I just like paying my debts. So paying off my one credit card and fixing my house are good uses in my book.

I’m thinking that the federal government does not have the money available to afford to give us this money. I don’t think that it will fix the economic problems we have.
It will not bring down the price of oil, food, and fuel. So how can it really help in the long run?
I am anti-predatory business practices, btw.

For those of you who think this stimulus package is a bad idea…send the money back to the government.
If you don’t you are a lying hypocrite.

No we’re not Phnx. We’re just taking advantage of the situation while shaking our heads over it. :p
Seriously though it’s not really going to do much.

mattbate:
the green goofballs are confused
by this short term thinking
it’s a $110mm bribe to 130mm americans
“If you received more than what you should have gotten, you will not be penalized.”….said Treasury spokesman Andrew DeSouza
in addition, parents will also receive $300 per child under 17; there is no cap on the number of qualifying children eligible.
which is a good gig for recently jailed polygamists with 8 wives and 54 children

Goofballs is right, don’t you all know that Alan Greenspan secretly accumulated nearly a trillion dollars worth of Euros before the U.S. started decreasing the value of the dollar. Now that the value of the dollar is so low, the Federal Reserve has been selling those Euros to pay off the ‘huge’ federal debt at pennies on the dollar. The Treasury’s secret plan has wiped out two-thirds of the federal debt in the last year at a cost of just some large oil and gas prices.
Oh, Greenspan wasn’t that smart?

Ha ha very funny. But the money is not for free. Head’s up, people. This is an ADVANCE on next year’s tax, meaning Bush and the current Democowards are giving you YOUR money, and sticking the next administration with the shortfall.
If you owe taxes next year, you get to keep this year’s bonus. But if you are due a refund next year, YOU ALREADY GOT $600 of it. You refund next year will be reduced by $600.
Battle plan for the wise: up your deductions this year to be absolutely SURE you don’t get a refund next year. Or else this bonus you thought you got? Gone.

What is the difference between this “stimuli” and wealth redistribution?
From what I read from our resident trolling libs……….absolutely nothing!
And they are complaining?!?
19. js | April 29th, 2008 at 9:37 am
its the welfare state…what results will it have?
probably none…
20. Danish Artist | April 29th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
I am going to stimulate an industry that is constantly under liberal attack.
The industry supported by the second amendment….will need them for the coming fuel and food riots caused by liberal policies!
