Defection The Canticle of Brother Sun

Abusing Our Tax Dollars…

May 1st, 2008 at 11:56pm Matt Margolis

A CBS affiliate in New York reported today about how Congressmen are using taxpayer dollars to lease extremely expensive luxury cars.

You may not realize it, but members of the House of Representatives can lease a car and have it paid for by you — the taxpayer. And it’s not just the car, but gas, registration, insurance … the works.

And as CBS 2 HD found out, there’s no limit on how much they can spend.

Congressman Charles Rangel was recently seen getting out of his Cadillac DeVille, which he leases for $774 per month. Then there was Congressman Jose Serrano, getting out of his Buick LaCrosse, which he leases for $317 per month. And how about this one: Congressman Gregory Meeks was recently seen waiting for Congressman John Conyers to step out of Meeks’ Lexus LS460, which Meeks leases for $998 per month.

This is actually not a new story. In fact, Mark and I wrote about this in Caucus of Corruption. We found that Democrats disproportionately chose luxury vehicles well above the average means of their constituents. Yet, public outrage doesn’t seem to last very long.

Another example of “Do as I say not as I do.”!

I thought the libs accepted the coming global catastrophe?

Aren’t they worried about climate change?
Aren’t they worried about increased CO2? - Not one hybrid!
Aren’t they worried about conserving gasoline to keep prices down? Hell no, not while we pay for that too! I wonder if many have drivers?
Aren’t they worried about the defecit/debt, spending on such luxuries?

Their constituents are the ignorant masses. As long as their monthy benefit, errrr, entitlement, errrr, income redistribution, errrrr, vote buying check is in their mailbox they could care less!

I read where Rangel said that his constituents expected him to drive such a luxurius car, because of the money he made!!! Talk about ignorant masses!

So the liberal elites in congress, with this program, have:
    polluted the environment,
    guzzled fuel,
    diregarded government spending/defecit/debt,
indulged in luxury, while their constituents are limited with medical care, food, education, etc etc etc.,
indulged in luxury, while our troops need weapons and armor,
indulged in luxury, while Walter Reed patients stay in horrid conditions,
indulged in luxury, while Katrina victims drown, exposed to the elements, dehydrate, starve, etc. etc.
indulged in luxury, food prices continue to climb,
indulged in luxury, during a recession,

okay, you lib idiots……let the excuses fly!

And what are the Repiglican’s driving? Bicycles? Pretty much the same thing….idiot hypocrites.

“indulged in luxury, while our troops need weapons and armor”

I think we know why that happened…

“indulged in luxury, while Walter Reed patients stay in horrid conditions”

This administration has done very little to support the troops once they are home and the conditions at Walter Reed have not improved.

“indulged in luxury, while Katrina victims drown, exposed to the elements, dehydrate, starve, etc. etc.”

    That one is rich.

“indulged in luxury, food prices continue to climb,
indulged in luxury, during a recession,”

Thank you for acknowledging the fact that we are in a recession.

Wow, Ricki, you really are that dense! You do not recognized sarcasm and the use of liberal stupidity when used against you.

one part of the post did not make it through I guess because of the brackets I used. So here it is:

“indulged in luxury, while (insert your favorite liberal argument against funding our military here)”

Yes, Ricki, liberals cared less about those situations while indulging in their luxuries. They only cared about them for political opportunity. Notice that the liberals, who indulge in this luxury, while controlling Congress have proposed nothing in useful legislation on those issues still outstanding.

    And there is no recession.

You’re just another useful idiot as TiredofLibBS has accurately labeled you and your ilk.

    RickRoll,

There was GDP growth in the first quarter, the Dow climbed over 13,000, interest rates dropped, inflation held steady and unemployment dropped.

Please enlighten us on how that equates to a recession.

DA, Liberals are corrupt, big shocker there… It is pointless to bash liberals on this while ignoring conservatives that do the same. BOTH parties have candidates who ‘indulge in luxury’ at the expense of tax payers. Nothing new here. If your truly outraged by it why didn’t / don’t you vote for Ralph Nader. Well I know why dems won’t, (he cost them the election in 2000 apparently…) but how about you? Republicans and Democrats are in essence the same party with different names. Sure they say there night and day on issues such as ‘gay rights’, ‘abortion’ and ‘guns’. Now, take a rational look at those issues, though the parties take opposite sides, what really gets done about them? Absolutely NOTHING. It’s a facade really. However, both parties cater to special interest groups, both run on platforms saying they won’t anymore, both lie, both are corrupt. So I ask you one simple question, what party do you really stand for?

Can you eat any of that stuff? Does any of that make consumer prices lower? Does your neighbor that’s siphoning gas to make ends meet care that this isn’t a “technical recession?”

But it’s important to point out that elites drive swanky cars because of what political party they belong to? Grow up.

    Bill,

A recent poll, I believe back in February, indicated that over 83% of Americans were very satisfied with their personal lives. Doesn’t really suggest that most people are in food lines. Does it?

You can continue to personally be miserable and try to make others feel the same, but you’ll be in the minority. Have fun.

Why this is pretty ridiculous, it’s not that unexpected. However, I do have a big problem with one thing; Why is Congressman Meeks driving a foreign car?
