More Evidence That Iran is Responsible for Iraq Violence
May 5th, 2008 at 12:10am Mark Noonan
From Multi-National Force Iraq:
Coalition forces captured two suspected Iranian-trained Special Groups criminals early this morning in the Rashid district in Baghdad.
Intelligence information led Coalition forces to the location of a suspected Special Groups leader wanted for facilitating the import of Iranian-made munitions into Iraq. He is also suspected of providing information to Special Groups leadership, which led to rocket attacks against Coalition and Iraqi forces. In addition, he is suspected of providing safe-haven to criminals wanted by Coalition and Iraqi forces.
Coalition forces entered the targeted individual’s location where he surrendered without incident.
Afterward, Coalition forces conducted a follow-on mission to a separate location, also in the Rashid district, to capture another suspected criminal. There, they detained a second individual who was identified as a Special Groups criminal.
“Coalition forces are working with the Iraqi Security Forces to remove the Special Groups thugs who foment violence and instability on the streets of Baghdad,” said Maj. Winfield Danielson, MNF-I spokesman.
Among the many unfortunate results of the anti-Bush/anti-victory effort on the part of America’s political left is the fact that President Bush finds his hands politically tied in the face of Iran. What Iran is conducting is an illegal proxy-war in Iraq designed to force us out, force Iraq into satellite status and thus accrue to Iran’s imperialistic, corrupt and cruel government control of Iraq’s oil resources and central strategic position. Iran cannot afford a democratic Iraq on its doorstep. Iran’s oil is the only thing keeping the Iranian regime afloat, and such reserves are dwarfed by Saudi Arabia and Canada while the addition of Iraqi reserves would make Iran just under Saudi Arabia in proven reserves, and likely the world’s largest oil giant, once Iraq’s unproven reserves are brought on line. Iran has massive imperial ambitions in the middle east, and cannot realise any of them while Iraq is outside Iranian control. All Iran’s needs - as far as the corrupt Iranian government is concerned - are met by Iranian control of Iraq - and so they engage in the current terrorist campaign in Iraq.
After all is said and done, all of the crimes falsely laid at the door of President Bush and the United States by the left are actually being committed by Iran. While President Bush has the ability to act even when he’s politically behind the 8 ball, right now he’s so far behind it - and the politico-military situation is so carefully balanced - that President Bush might believe that any action against Iran would actually work to America’s disadvantage.
The stakes are absolute in Iraq - either we win it, or Iran wins it. A loss for Iran in Iraq means complete loss - the Iranian mullahs cannot sustain themselves without Iraq, and so they won’t quit - not ever as long as the current Iranian regime is in place. Come what may, the next President will have to deal with Iran - and such dealing, given the nature of the Iranian regime, will have to amount to war or surrender on our part. Thanks to the left, we lack any real room to use diplomacy and economics - we either have to throw up the sponge, or fight. Once again, another “peace” movement has only made war more likely - and likely to be longer and bloodier than it ever had to be.
We’re in a real war, fellow Americans, and our actions have real consequences - while the left has self-indulgently engaged in a hate-fest designed to advance the left’s narrow political interests, the United States of America has been fighting a war. We’re winning it, but we’d be far further along without the left’s campaign over the past 7 years…and we might have the worst of it yet to go through, courtesy of the left.

A quick scenario . . .
Mexico has a tyrannical leader who has threatened to attack Iran’s oil production capability and the Supreme Leader after a blistering attack on a refinery can take no more. They send 50 000 troops to hunt down and capture the Mexican tyrant and begin converting Mexican Cathiolics to Shi’a Islam and the religion begins to gain in popularity with Illegals crossing the SU border carrying copies of the Koran.
Now how long under such a far fecthed yet clear scenario do you think it would be before the United States starts sending in it’s own covert operatives to attempt to disrupt efforts of the Iranian forces?
Despite the fact that the US broke Iraq it does not belong to you. Iran has every right to protect its self interests in the region.
5. congressive | May 5th, 2008 at 8:48 am
Two “suspected” people caught. That good enough reason to kill millions of Iranians. Let the bombs fall where they may!
We live in a world where “suspected militant” is a death sentence. The fact that you are not outraged by this is proof the American way ain’t what it used to be.
Oh, yeah. It’s the “left’s” fault that Iraq is such a clusterbomb. Yeah. Right, Haywood. If only the left would have funded Bush’s war… oh, wait. They did. Well, if only they’d have turned their backs on war crimes…. oh wait, they did. If only they’d have supported nuking Iran… oh wait. They do. If only they’d… WHAT??? What have far far left fringe fanatics done to hamper Bush? What has Sheehan done to even slow Bush down one itty bitty iota?
What?
6. OperationChaos | May 5th, 2008 at 8:55 am
C’mon, Mark, you know and I know that if we’d leave the Middle East, Iran would stop its nuke program, the Palestinians would let Israel exist in peace, and all those kite-flying kids we saw in that Mikey Moron film would return to those parks in Iraq.
It’s all Bush’s fault; if he’d stop being such a warmonger, and allow us to power our vehicles with cow poop, all would be peaceful in the world.

Actually, Mark, we’re headed back to the Jimmuh Cahtuh days if either of those Donkaroaches gets elected. Jimmuh is responsible for the majority of the unrest in the ME; he created modern-day Iran…

Eisenhower created modern day Iran, by allowing the CIA and the British to overthrow Mossadegh in 1953 in a coup to secure access to oil.
9. robert w. blunt | May 5th, 2008 at 9:19 am
Hmmm, Iran is providing arms to Iraqis fighting to overthrow the legitimate government of Iraq, therefore we are morally justified in making war against Iran. In the 80s, Reagan, without legal authority, and with ‘plausible deniability’, provided arms to Contras fighting against the legitimate government of Nicaragua. Would Nicaragua have been morally justiifed in making war against the U.S.?
Or is it only justified when “we” do it?
10. js | May 5th, 2008 at 10:25 am
its a formal act of war when a nation sends it operatives into another nation to incite violence against its government….which is exactly what iran has done…it has created a de fecto cause and state of war to exist between iraq and iran….by inciting insurrection against iraq….
we dont need anything else….a state of war already exists…
11. Some Assembly Required | May 5th, 2008 at 10:37 am
js, the key thing here being BETWEEN Iraq and Iran. Not the US. So by going to war with Iran, the US would not only be policing Iraq for the Iraqi’s but fighting wars for them now to. Last time I checked, Iraq was not part of the US. Correct me if I’m wrong…
As for them being an ally, I think I’d hold off until the US pulls it’s troops out and let the Iraqi people decide for themselves who their friends are. If they still want to remain ally’s then fine, more power to them. If they don’t, the US has no business meddling in the affairs of a ’sovereign nation’. Such meddling as you say would be an act of war.
Everyones all hot and bothered over Iran supplying weapons. How about Weapons manufacturers in the US that sell to both sides? How come more is not done about this? Instead we should attack Iran, nevermind the people who sell us guns are secretly supplying them to our enemies as well… Thats just capitalism right…
12. js | May 5th, 2008 at 10:44 am
did you just get out of school? are you so shallow that you think you make an erroneous assumption based on missinformation…is this how you get your “learning” in the real world…by creating the lies that support it….
Grow Up SAR, stop being a stooge. The US is bound to defend Iraq until Iraq can do so by its self….nothing you posted has one bit of relevance…
13. js | May 5th, 2008 at 10:47 am
not that it matters…..but when iranian forces target the US Military on the Iraq expidition…iran effectively has declaired war upon the USA….we dont need anything else to respond to iranian agression….a state of war already exists….wake up…get your head out of your beehind…..
14. Just Another Taxpayer | May 5th, 2008 at 10:49 am
Let’s assume they’re singlehandedly keeping the chaos going in Iraq. What are we in a position to do about it?
Is this another example of Bushs’ “they’re all muslims” intelligence failure that got us into this quagmire in the first place?
Buffet, a man who knows a thing or two about money, says the US is in recession right now. If you Bush supporters decide the military needs to do something about it, how will we pay for it?
Don’t depend on our dimished economic capacity to persuade the Russians and the Chinese to stop dealing with Iran, either.
15. Timothy Horrigan | May 5th, 2008 at 11:59 am
I think JS is missing a point. Iran’s army is a terrorist organization, according a 76-22 senate vote in 2007. Hillary voted for the bill, Obama skipped the vote. Hence any attempt by this force to defend the Iranian homeland (or to protect Iranian interests in Iraq) would be an act of terrorism, not an act of war. And although our forces would voluntarily choose to obey some of the rules of war, they would be doing so only because Gen. Petraeus is such a nice guy.
More to the point, the fact that the Iranian army is a terrorist organization means that it would be unthinkable to use diplomacy to avoid a confrontation. Instead our only option is to Bring It On!

The Empire of Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in 1941 and the US declared war on Japan and her allies. The US refused to enter the war in Europe for a number of reasons and thus allowed many of her allies to be trampled until a direct reason akin to 9/11 that would swing public and political opinion as a casus belli.
America would never have gone to war with Germany alone had there been no attack on US interests in Hawaii
19. js | May 5th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
you sissies dont grasp reality to well do you…bush does not need congresses approval to respond in kind to attacks on US Forces….period….it would take 5 days or less to level the iranian infrastructure….rendering the threat of either a protracted war iran or proxy war in iraq null….ya, it would drive gas up to 10 bucks a gallon…only for short period though….the devastation of irans ability to sell oil would cut thier cash flow…the devastation of thier nuke facilities would set them back a decade as a serious threat…the devastation of communications and military points of interest would allow the iranian people to rise up and take back thier country….
we dont have to get the liberals to approve squat…we just need to get off our butts and get the job done….

Granted, eventually the US would have been forced into the war with Germany had Japan not attacked Pearl Harbor. Though this would have come much later and probably would have taken the fall of either Britain or Russia. By which time Hitler would have controlled about 3/4 of the globe. But, history is history and Japan is the reason for the US entering WWII.
Also, the US is not a nation that goes to pre-emptive war, WMD’s aside. But then as President Bush so eloquently put it “fool me once - shame on - shame on you . fool me - you can’t get fooled again”
js, I seem to remember that same pitch was used for Iraq. Look how that turned out.
Attacking Iran would economically destroy the US and quite possibly the Global economy. I’m no economist, but I’d be willing to bet my measly life savings that $10 a gallon for even a short period of time would cause a depression.

Jerry, your right, but this was after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the US declaring war on Japan. Where Japan was one of Germany’s ‘allies’ it was only a natural progression.

Gasoline at 10 dollars a gallon would cause a shockwave in the US economy that would decrease productivity by as much as 25% in response to the four fold increase in the price of soft commodities that have to be transported using 11 dollar + per gallon diesel fuel. If bombing Iran is worth plunging America into an economic state that would lead to cannibalism in the long term I say go for it because if Americans are that blood thirsty they deserve that sort of economic outcome.
