Open Tread: Friday Morning

The Reverend Jesse Jackson told CNN that he’s planning to endorse Barack Obama for president. Experts say this is a risky move for Jackson, because hardly anything rhymes with ‘Barack Obama.”
Chelsea Clinton tried to help her mother attract the gay vote in Pennsylvania by visiting several lesbian bars. That’s true, yeah. When asked to comment afterwards, Chelsea said, “I’ve never seen so many women with my mom’s haircut.”
We’re leaning more and more about John and Cindy McCain. He’s on this big biography tour. I guess his wife Cindy is worth over $100 million because the family made money selling Budweiser beer. So he has a wife 20 years younger than him, free beer, and unlimited money. I think I speak for all guys when I go, “Why is he running for president?”
Talk amongst yourselves for a bit. I’ll be back later.

(That was too easy.)

Even better than having a ketchup-based sugar mama. Ketchup is fine on burger and fries, but beer goes with everything.

Here a pretty ridiculous use of force. Though it really attributes to the safety of tasers if an 82 year old man can get it 3 times after heart surgery and survive.

As the sun sets on the good times of the Bush administration, let’s take another look at some the achievements and like James A has said many times before…
Thank God for George W. Bush, the greatest President in American history.

Yes, Thank Almighty God for President George W. Bush, the Greatest President in U.S. history
Times may be tough, but one thing’s for sure, I’m still here, you’re still here, and we have life to be thankful for…of which, not too many have that fortunate blessing, for they never get to take their first breath of life.
For some odd reason people just don’t take the time to look ahead and see where the murder of innocent unborn children lead America….No, we’ve only seen the start of what is to come.
My prayer is that America will see the err of her ways, and that people would be given wisdom enough to realize that Life is precious, no matter what stage of life.

Please, go crawl back under your rock.

Go to google news for top story: Oil reaches $126 on potential problems with Venezuela, gas is averaging $3.67. Big bad Mr. Bush, in response, begs Opec to open the spigot and is politely told that the supply is fine, the problem is your money. Then tells congress that the country needs more refineries operating since the ones we have are operating at Katrina level lows, because gas would be 6$ a galon before refiners made a profit. One of the blogs editors reported losing 100k of equity. Moodys reports that for the first time since the 1945 banks own more of the nations homes than the homeowners do, due to the same equity losses. And we’ve gone through our 4th straight month of job losses.
And for those of you whose focus is “on the troops” and their supposed indifference to domestic affairs, well…I was pumping gas next to a pilot in his flight suit. Without solicitation, just as he finished pumping, he said,”Gas costs alot.”
“Hell of a thing to come home to. Isn’t it? The Iraqis are making money hand over fist from oil production that’s less than it was in 2003. I sure wish the Iraqis would pay more of a share for what we we’re doing there.” I responded.
“I hope we can get things straightened out there soon.”
“Agreed.”
Then the pilot got in his car and left. Another anecdote:in several posts, I’ve mentioned a neighbor who paid 510,000 for a house, and now can’t get a soul to look at it for $429,000. Last week, after not seeing him for a couple of months, I saw a banner on his garage door that read “Welcome Home, Daddy”
Just then he drove into his driveway, got out of his car to the embrace of his family. He was still in uniform.
I wonder how many other servicemen came home to the same greeting. I wonder which is more daunting: Facing people in Iraq who want to kill you, or the banker back home who wants to take your home.
Have a nice day!!

RenHouck,
I look forward to a day when your vile and sick affections no longer pollute this blog, when it is Christian Conservatives voices of one accord.
Either way, there will be peace or there will be war, and one thing I know for sure….the Lord’s hand is guiding it.

Ever notice that whenever a neocon supporter of the current administration is presented with facts he or she cannot dispute, the same tired old mantra is hauled out in a pathetic attempt at a rebuttal.
13. Some Assembly Required | May 9th, 2008 at 1:58 pm
That or your called a useless/full idiot. I just ignore it now CO. When you present facts they’ll call it leftist propaganda because you found it from a google search or from ABC.
It’s kind of like those first attempts at flying. They’d create a devise that mimicked birds and drive it off a cliff. They then percieve free falling as flight and marvel in their success. Eventually they look down and see the ground approaching them quickly. They paddle their little hearts out to flap the wings like a bird but to no avail. It’s inconceivable to them that their design is flawed from the start because they were ‘flying’ for a period of time so they do not adandon their ship. Instead they ride it to disaster never knowing any different. As if this was not bad enough. If they survive, they pick up the pieces, march right back up that hill and do it again thinking they didn’t paddle hard enough the first time.

Jeremiah,
I’ll look forward to the day when you find you a good evangelical woman and start breeding little Jesus camp soldiers.
This way, as the fighting continues under the McSame administration, your offspring can hold onto Jesus’ M-16 and KILL them terrorisors too. All in God’s name.

Well JAT, let’s see here. Oil reaches $126 / barrel is from supply & demand but we could have been semi self sufficient (Canada & US only) on that front if the Clinton administration didn’t block every attempt to drill in ANWAR and other reasonable locations. BTW, in 2006 Speaker Pelosi clearly claimed that once the Democrats were in power–they were going to take care of the high price of gas. Only thing they have done is nothing except watch the price rise. The simple thing to do would make one national standard and not some 20+ different fuels for California alone and cut out this bio-fuel waste. Plus, there is a problem with our refining capacity yet there is only one new one being built
I believe, even though the loss, the unemployment rate is consistently lower overall than it has been over the past two administrations. Personally, I moved to NC for work and took a pay cut when I went full-time from contract but gained overall including benefits and bonuses. I just got my second Bachelors and am working on my Masters. Nonetheless, up here in Research Triangle Park (RTP) area—I might have to get a Doctorate because of the high percentage degreed professionals here. Continue to learn to look good for potential employers and advancement within the one you could be working for currently. Plus, I try to store enough liquid equity to make it six months—just in case I have to look for work—which is a job in itself.
Now I have sold one and bought another house last year and my “new” house actually increased in value in that year. Both on the tax rolls and in real equity. As a matter of fact, my neighbors (2 down) just sold their house (smaller house & property) for what mine is listed at on the tax rolls. Now, the house I sold in Miami, Fl. was waaaay over priced in my opinion but sold anyway for cash—they probably lost a great deal of value but when you speculate—better do your homework. I rented for a year up here in NC to wait for a buyer’s market. If they did in Miami—I would have only been able to get half of what I did when I sold…but I seen it coming.
When I was in the Marines (rifle company) – I was on several missions on behalf of my government and rotated out after 9 years (damn, could have retired by now if I was smarter) and called back 2 years after I was released because of my MOS for Gulf War I. No whining—I read and signed the contract. I served then and requested to serve again now but was put on a list instead. There are safeguards that they tell service folks about that will protect them while serving in a combat zone and for a while after. No one is taking his house. But in answer to your question—I think his family back here has it the roughest because you rarely get time to think while there is a chance of people shooting at you. The ones back home have nothing but time to think and worry about you.
Basically, Live within your means and prepare for the worst. Everything else is gravy. I have seen combat and lived through Hurricane Andrew (among others) in Miami—during and after these I relied on myself and my buddies—not the government and we all made it through fine. The housing market will rebound, the conflict in Iraq will end and most of us will be stronger for it. Just FYI, in Florida after Andrew—we got the same exact response times as after Katrina—the difference is those that pull themselves up by the bootstraps and those that wait for the government handout. Teach a man to fish, so to speak, rather than waiting for your daily rations.
Sorry for being long-winded but still have a nice weekend!!!

Sources close to Rep Vito Fossella R NY-13 tell Us the 10 term Congressman will resign from his seat in the House of Representative after being arrested for being two times above the legal limit for alcohol while driving and automobile. In the midst of explaining where he was going Fossella a staunch “family values” conservative gave the address of his mistress as his destination to “see his sick 3 year old daughter.” The love child is the result of a five year affair the devout Catholic representative was engaged in while still married to his wife of 18 years. Fossella and his wife have three children together.
Both the GOP leadership and one newspaper on Staten Island, the Advance, have asked for Fossella to resign. An announcement is expected from the House minority leadership on Monday.
