The (Upcoming) Long Summer of Our Discontent
May 10th, 2008 at 09:51am Mark Noonan
Get ready for a lot of bad news, so says Daniel Casse - but don’t despair!
The fourth quarter, after the conventions, and during the fall debates, is McCain’s only chance. This will be the first time that country really sees the two candidates directly going after one another. It will be the first time McCain will feel he is on a level playing field. The narrative of the first three quarters is the young and new vs. the old and tired. McCain has to reframe the debate around ideas–on Iraq, the economy, bipartisanship, taxes, and experience. No one looks or sounds better in victory than Obama. He is a lot less attractive, as we have now seen, when he is confronted or put on defense. When the country is paying attention in October, McCain will have his chance to knock Obama on his heels.
The meaning of all this: Republicans need to gird themselves for a long summer of horrendous polls and deepening despair. Obama will keep putting points on the board through early September. It will look hopeless. Until the fourth quarter.
The MSM will do everything it can to ensure an Obama win - no slander against McCain will be too harsh, no cover up for Obama too outrageous. The MSM desperately wants Obama to win - in their narrative, the US must have a ultra-liberal black President because only thusly can America atone for its sins (especially over the past 8 years). The whole worldview of most MSMers is based upon a belief that only a black man (or someone who, at bottom, must be non-straight white male) can save America - it will also tie neatly in with their narrative that the American people have entirely and without exception rejected President Bush. Democrats will join in with this effort on the part of the MSM as best they can.
There will be poll after poll showing Obama with a crushing lead - that these polls will likely be skewed Democratic won’t be noted except in the blogosophere. There will be story after story about how wonderful Obama is and how wonderful he makes Americans feel. There will be story after story about what a lousy person McCain is. And the story line about America will be just one more story after another detailing how miserable we all are, and how only Obama can get us out of this mess. The MSM will seek to pre-destroy McCain - as they successfully did with Goldwater in 1964, and unsuccessfully did with Reagan in 1980. The flaw in their plan is twofold.
1. McCain is a well like American public figure who really doesn’t have any scandal in his background.
2. The American people are a lot smarter than the MSM gives them credit for.
Now, don’t get me wrong, we are behind the 8 ball in our effort to win in 2008 - the political stars have all come together to foster a Democratic victory in November, but what I am warning about is the sin of despair. Don’t give up because of what you see in the MSM - they will be lying to you, in a greater or lesser degree, about everything you see in politics from now until mid-October. By mid-October, the MSM will have to start allowing some truth in, so they don’t look like fools on November 5th. But the hope is that McCain will be too far damaged by mid-October for a recovery - but the truth will be out there, all along, and if McCain plays his cards right - and we all do our duty by fighting it out, day by day, MSM story-line be damned - we can shape the narrative in our direction from September until November.
Obama has been a Senator for three years, two of which have been absorbed by running for President. Prior to that, he was a barely-there State legislator…he’s a cipher; a gigantic, fraudulent, political zero…the “un-named Democrat” made flesh. He’s got nothing but looks, voice and narrative…knock him off his stride even once late in the campaign, and this political mountebank we call Obama will fall apart. He’s got nothing of substance - while John McCain is all substance, right through and through. The “Can We Ask?” ad by the RNC shows the way - and shows the fundamental, laughable weaknesses of Obama…to think that these Democrats have dared to pit such a zero in a contest with us! That shows how over-confident they are - and over-confidence can be their downfall, if we do our part.

Mark, why would the majority of voters not gladly seize the opportunity to once again have pride in their leadership, to once again be proud to call themselves American?
The remaining supporters of the Bush/McCain policies may not give a pig’s a** how America is perceived on the world stage but I’ll willing to bet that your fellow citizens do.

Yet, when a similar “embarassment” is found in both candidates, the MSM harps on Wright and does not care about Hagee.
Yet, this supposedly leftwing MSM hires ROVE as a political analyst and commentator.
This “the MSM is an EEEEEvil lib’rul plot” meme of yours is getting old, Mark.

1) John McCain was an officer in the United States Navy in the 1970s after returning from Vietnam and there is indeed some scandal in his background.
2) It appears that only half of them or maybe a little less were as of November 2004. As I recall Bush won with a majority of the vote proving you incorrect.
It is just the sort of name calling dripping with vitriol that will get Barack Obama elected Mr. Noonan. I am not fool enough to say that McCain has no chance but he is so hidebound by the “base” that he had to tell the MSM over and over yesterday that he and his wife voted for Bush when several sources said that he did not. When that story ran another was run in the Huffington Post detailing a 1999 taping of a show on Home and Garden television where the husband of the show’s host asked McCain what he thought of George W Bush, Senator John McCain replied “He’s as dumb as a stump.”
As a demon journalist I bring this forth because it presents the very patent dilemma conservative voters find themselves in as you progress toward November. McCain is not one of you and has proven willing in the past to put aside his beliefs to get into a position to get to his goal of being President. He will eventually work himself into such a narrow band of support that the election may be a foregone conclusion in favor of the Democrats long before the 1st of October. What I hear this far from the election coming from people who are normally quite conservative is far louder than the shouts from moderates in May 2006 when most GOP pundits were hardly in fear of a defeat of the magnitude they suffered. From the RNC to the NRCC to staffers on the Hill of GOP members the tone is beyond bleak it is downright funereal. The most chilling revelation is how serious Democrats at the DNC are about not “snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.” Howard Dean has takes 15 people from outside the DNC to dig into the background of Barack Obama. If there is a live boy a dead girl a love child drug use or anything else the DNC will find it first. The DNC has the luxury to do this because it is flush with cash and they know the MSM will do the same thorough job on McCain between memorial Day in the US and the first week of August. After 1 August the gloves come off period or there will be very little left of the GOP. If the RNC doesn’t have 20 MM coming in a week for McCain by then the race will be over anyway.
All that said once again it will be “The economy stupid” unless the war in Iraq takes a tremendous turn for the better or worse. And either way that spells bad news for the next administration to wish to be there one minute longer than necessary.

why would the majority of voters not gladly seize the opportunity to once again have pride in their leadership, to once again be proud to call themselves American?–Candadian Observer.
Sure thing. That’s why I’m voting for Republican Supreme Court Justices in my state that uphold a right to life for the unborn, and the institution of marriage as between one man and one woman.
And so forth and so on and on.
I sure ain’t going to take this grand opportunity to help our nation and squander it, waste it on voting for a Democrat. That would be the dummer of the dummest ideas/mistakes if I vote for a Democrat.
I talked to a fellow a couple weeks ago…I mentioned that here, asking him about this year’s election, I was down in the field planting potatoes…and after I got done, I sit down with him and asked him….he’s a really intelligent fellow, but we didn’t have much time to talk, because he an appointment to go to, but anyway, I said, “You know, liberalism, it used to mean something, it was a good ideology, it was an ideology that embraced clean, moral, wholesome ideas, now, however, it’s totally changed it’s more on the lines of embracing between Communism/Socialism…So what has happened, what’s the deal here?” And he gave me a real short answer, he said…
“Well, you’re right! What liberal meant say 60 years ago, when I was a young fellow compared to today”…..*shook his head* …. “just can’t accept it, not acceptable.”
I said, the Democrats today are spreading a lot of (he interrupts and says…sh**, is what I call it) misinformation.
Oh well, people just have to live and learn.
hehe

But when engaging at the conference tables (since the beginning of the 80s, 90, or 2000s depending on the region) an exercise in futility?
Liberals are always wanting to repeat history and expecting different results.

Jeremiah I take offense at the calling for the deportation of people who you do not like because of their politics. You probably aren’t very fond of Jews or Muslims either but that’s your right to be a bigot in a free society just as I have the right to tell you that you are wrong.
For a man who stands on such a religious, and see here young man there is a far division between what is religious and what is ethical, soapbox this is a telling turn of phrase indeed.
I hope gfor your sake that it does rain manna from paradise wherever in the trailer belt that you live because this summer will be long and difficult for those like you.

Well can’t you see that he’s for the homosexuals, and lifting them up to special recognition status? Encouraging young people in school to become Sodomites? Overturning the Defense of Traditional Marriage Act with no definition of marriage.

Chris·tian (krschn)
adj.
1. Professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.
2. Relating to or derived from Jesus or Jesus’s teachings.
3. Manifesting the qualities or spirit of Jesus; Christlike.
4. Relating to or characteristic of Christianity or its adherents.
5. Showing a loving concern for others; humane.
n.
1. One who professes belief in Jesus as Christ or follows the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.
2. One who lives according to the teachings of Jesus.
Jeremiah, since you do not adhere to any of the above, you cannot call yourself a Christian; so knock it off.
I don’t know what belief system you are following but it is certainly far removed from what Jesus preached.
18. Jeremiah | May 10th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Canadian Observer,
I could care less what you think of me, but I certainly DO care what you want to do to America. Now, our Founding Fathers, CO, they were willing to fight and execute people for what they believed in, even if it meant forsaking their families….they had a backbone and they weren’t afraid to do what was necessary to ensure that society maintained a modicum of morality and good-will for all.
And that’s what pisses me off so much about today’s era of government leaders, they’ve done away with the Law, they have no backbone to stand for law, they actually WANT to promote IMMORALITY.
Our Founding Fathers hats would fly off their heads at the sight of this country after they done everything they could to preserve it from such humanistic idiotic Democrats.
THIS IS A REPUBLIC, AND IT’S FOUNDATION IS THE BIBLE!!!!!!!PERIOD!!!!!!!

Cavalor E.E.D,
For starters…A list of laws I would sign into law if I were POTUS for morality.
1. A Constitutional amendment for the protection of life, making abortion illegal in all 50 states.
2. A Constitutional amendment making marriage between One Man and One Woman for Life in all 50 states.
3. A Constitutional amendment for the re-constitution of Sodomy laws.
4. A Constitutional amendment banning the production of pornographic material and on the Internet.
5. A Constitutional amendment outlawing the teaching of sexual education in our schools.
6. A Constitutional amendment allowing prayer and Bible reading in our schools.
7. A Constitutional amendment that allows for the teaching of the account of Creation in school, and extra funding to research on that end.
8. A Constitutional amendment making the Death Penalty mandatory for the act of murder and rape in all 50 states.
9. A Constitutional amendment that allows Christians to promote Christianity in the public symbolically.
10. A Constitutional amendment banning taxes for the working to elderly/fixed income folk.
11. A Constitutional amendment that allows for the use of public property for Christian based events.
What would become of America after all that?
She would rise to be great and honorable, and other countries would respect and honor her!!
22. Jeremiah | May 10th, 2008 at 6:47 pm

“A Constitutional amendment banning taxes for the working to elderly/fixed income folk.”
How are we going to pay to fix potholes?
“A Constitutional amendment that allows for the use of public property for Christian based events.”
so the Jews are just SOL in your county?

Well now that you have beaten the stuffing out of a great democracy with a Bible and literally created riot, bankrupted the Treasury and set the nation virtually alight with arson fueled anger at people having no purpose to live, i.e. the freedom to live as they choose, I am forced to ask a question.
“How many who read this blog regularly would want to live in such a nation with codified laws as Jeremiah describes?”
26. 42 | May 10th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
“She would rise to be great and honorable, and other countries would respect and honor her!!”
So America isn’t great and honorable? If you hate it so much, there’s and exit on both coasts and along both borders, feel free to use any one of them
27. 42 | May 10th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
sorry, should be ‘an exit’, not ‘and exit’
28. Jeremiah | May 10th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
people having no purpose to live, i.e. the freedom to live as they choose
There’s only ONE purpose to live for in life, friend…..For Jesus Christ.
And this country is fixin’ to find that out in quick order.
29. Jeremiah | May 10th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
If you hate it so much, there’s and exit on both coasts and along both borders
No! I hate what the people (Democrats in particular) want to try to do to my country!
Like the snorting, slobbering, pawing mad bull being taunted by the bull fighter!!!
So, I want these people to find the exit or maybe someone can kindly introduce them to the exit.
30. 42 | May 10th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
“There?s only ONE purpose to live for in life, friend?..For Jesus Christ.”
Awww shoot…I was living under the assumption that the only purpose to “live for in life”(sic) was whoever dies with the most toys wins…
“in quick order”?
what does that even mean? Oh, did you mean Short Order
31. 42 | May 10th, 2008 at 7:11 pm

want to do? So these things haven’t been done yet, but you still say America isn’t great and honorable? wow, I’m not sure I like the way you’re talking about my Country…could you try to stop bashing it so much?
32. Jeremiah | May 10th, 2008 at 7:15 pm

29. Jeremiah | May 10th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
first shot, it is not YOUR country. it is not a country that exists for the exultation of a particular religion, race or creed. It is not a plaything for those who wish to tamper with the liberties of other men. Great men like John Adams, Bejamin Franklin and Thos. Jefferson knew this and were firm in both their Faith and their metaphysics with their own hypocrisies that they set all of that aside and created a democracy that is the living model for all free men to admire.
This they did without creating a Theocracy a filthy abominable thing that men would use to pursue their own several lusts and for the abuse of the wwak and the disenfrachised. This is what you call for with all your arcane rhetoric and your so called desire to make America “Chrsitian.” What you actually want to do is to make a religious prison of her and her Citizens under the rule of men like you who would have plenty debauchery overflow in golden cups that you would swill gladly while men who looked at a bare ankle would be whipped for their avquiesence to tempatation. You Jeremiah give foundation to a rule of Christian “mullahs” who would remove any person’s freedom to worship as they please or not to worship at all.
The purpose of all sentient life in the enire Universe is to reach a place of spiritual peace and enlightenment and too this there are myriad paths and myriad ways. Any man who thinks he has the only way has deluded himself from the Truth.
However, I must restrain myself because one of the great rights that you have in America is the right to make as great a target of ridicule and delight for others to mock as you like as long as you cause no physical harm.
34. 42 | May 10th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
“No, America is a great country”
if it’s so great, then why did you just say it isn’t?

21. Jeremiah | May 10th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
““She would rise to be great and honorable”
Meaning She isn’t, right now, great and honorable…
Why do you hate American so much?
“who would hang for trying to destroy it.”
But since I’m actually not trying to destroy it…I’m safe from the hangings…right?
35. Jeremiah | May 10th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Why do you hate American so much?
It’s the people who make a country, 42, they can either make it a good life, or they can make it a miserable life.
As for now, I enjoy America.
I just don’t want people with your’s and Obama’s ideas to run this country…turning criminals into celebrities with all the publicity, when they should be on Death Row. Funding the Genocide of unborn children, Sodomite parades, allowing our country to acqueisce into a pit of vomit/sewage/cess-pool etc, etc.
So, wake-up, dude, for one day America may find itself in a predictament for which She cann’t escape!!!!
36. 42 | May 10th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
“As for now, I enjoy America”
You enjoy America?…it’s not great and it’s not honorable (your words, not mine) yet you still “enjoy” it
So you hate this country, but have no problem taking advantage of what others have died for so you can “enjoy” it?
“one day America may find itself in a predictament for which She cann’t escape!!!!”

I don’t know where you come up with that I hate America….but you’ve got a lot of thinking to do on that.
There’s a DIFFERENCE…..You hate America enough to destroy it………I hate you for trying to destroy it.
Did you get that….let me repeat it so you can let it sink in….
YOU hate America enough to destroy it………I hate you for trying to destroy it.
So who is fighting for the more beneficial? Me or You?

As Cavalor Epthith, Esquire, D.S.V.J. said in post #33, you indeed had great and smart men with the foresight to lay the foundations of a democracy which is protected from the sort of idiocy promoted by Jeremiah.

America is the greatest country on earth…..but your buddies Socialist agendas are making America go down the gutter in a fast way, and to beat all you SUPPORT them…..I would say that would call for a head examination on your part.
Just sheer stupidity, buddy, to think that your ideology is somehow “superior” when everyone of them are complete and utter failures.

“A Constitutional amendment making marriage between One Man and One Woman for Life in all 50 states.”
Meaning divorce would be illegal?
“A Constitutional amendment for the re-constitution of Sodomy laws.”
how would you enforce this? would you have cameras installed in every bedroom or take “wittness accounts” as proof? and what would be the punishment? death?
“A Constitutional amendment that allows for the use of public property for Christian based events.”
What about events for jews, muslims and every other religion?
“A Constitutional amendment banning the production of pornographic material and on the Internet.”
How on earth do you plan to regulate whats on the net? (you are aware the net is a worldwide thing and not just created by people in the US right? look into how such laws have been avoided in the past).
“A Constitutional amendment banning taxes for the working to elderly/fixed income folk.”
Ok, i can agree with you there somewhat. for the elderly I’d have to ask why they have to work (how old do you plan to retire, 80??) but for “fixed income”?? How would you pay for the armed forces, roads, schools, etc?
43. js | May 10th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
pride….such as it is…thats not what makes a man great….and having pride in a liar…a cheat…doesnt elevate pride to anything more than self deceit…..so what would make anyone have pride in obama….the way he continuously denies himself…like the many years he spent cleaving to reverent wrights sermons…only to deny in the end that he was “paying attention”…or his condemnation of the duely elected government in kenya…after his muslim cousin who swore to impose sharia over the entire christian population of that nation….putting the Christian majority (90%) of the population under islamic law by force…when did he condemn his cousins actions when his tribe burned a Christian Church filled with Christians to the ground…..is that something Americans should find pride in….or the history of obama’s anti gun record….and his adamant stance that 12 year old girls should be allowed to cross state lines without thier parents permission for abortions…..ya….that something liberals should be proud of….
but really….there is a lot more about obama that the msm wants to talk about…that really needs to be discussed…like the way he suddenly comes up with all the political banter…that boy…why he would say anything if he though it would get him into the white house….literally…including to condemn his wife and family for thier opposition to his condemnation of reverent anti white pro black ethics wright….and you can blame that on whitey too….
44. Jeremiah | May 10th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Meaning divorce would be illegal?
No. meaning that the marriage institution would be permanently between a man and a woman only. And that if divorce be needed, then re-marriage is not acceptable, you must stay single.
how would you enforce this? would you have cameras installed in every bedroom or take “wittness accounts” as proof?
Nope. Just take a questionairre at every work place, and if caught, then call the police to take them in and lock them up. Same for our military, just fill out a questionairre, if caught give them the boot.
and what would be the punishment? death?
First offense(sp?), $2,500 fine, and three to five years in prison.
Second offense, Death Row. No excuses.
What about events for jews, muslims and every other religion?
Sure, no problem. As for now, we Christians have got to try to get our freedoms back, before we start going to prison. If not, then we will see Civil War again, something I’m sure many would like to avoid, but when Atheists want to persecute you, you have no other choice but to rebel against the government and make the Atheists step back.
How on earth do you plan to regulate whats on the net? (you are aware the net is a worldwide thing and not just created by people in the US right? look into how such laws have been avoided in the past).
I have no idea, but one thing’s for sure, it’s got to go, it’s no good, it causes division and depraved mindedness in the family unit.
how old do you plan to retire, 80??
That’s when I plan to retire, that is IF the good Lord gives me the strength and health to tarry that long.
How would you pay for the armed forces, roads, schools, etc?
The government’s got plenty of money…them big oil rigs, refineries and so forth.
Instead of using our tax dollars, why don’t they use that money instead to fund for welfare and all these other subsidies, S-ChIP, HUD and all the rest. Watch and see how fast they turn on you then…they live high on the hog and just want to keep sucking it in…George Soros and the whole lot of thieves.

what would this questionnaire contain? “are you gay (please answer honestly, only your life is at stake)” ?
Curious, would the same punishment be given to straight couples who sin outside of marriage?
If you truly plan to retire at 80 (or 90 or whatever) I have a new found respect for you.
You believe that if a woman is beaten on a daily basis for years by an abusive husband and finally divorces him _she_ should be punished by not being allowed to remarry?

what would this questionnaire contain? “are you gay (please answer honestly, only your life is at stake)” ?
No. It would have to be more detailed, and not the straight-forward question; because naturally no-one is going to tell the truth with a straight-forward question…more on the lines of…
Fill in the dot…
All required fields
Are you married? Yes_ No_
What is your relationship status? Good__ Bad__
Which appeals to you? Men_ Women_
Have you had more than one relationship? Yes__ No__ Men__ Women__
This should lead to the answer. Also, staff seargants should watch for abnormal behavior for signs of Sodomy.
Curious, would the same punishment be given to straight couples who sin outside of marriage?
Not necessarily. But some punishment is needed to induce and transmit a modicum of morality within society, toward clean and acceptable lives, so that our institutions may prosper and do well. Remember, man’s designs are of little significance in the grand scheme of things, But Almighty God’s and His alone. And the Law of the government was created for this purpose, resting on the principles of Christianity.
If you truly plan to retire at 80 (or 90 or whatever) I have a new found respect for you.
Thanks! That’s my hope.
You believe that if a woman is beaten on a daily basis for years by an abusive husband and finally divorces him _she_ should be punished by not being allowed to remarry?
Just give her cousel from what the Word of God says, which says that we shouldn’t remarry and that gives peace and comfort to her mind that she is going to be ok.
I knew of a woman who was beaten like that daily by her husband who came in drunk every evening, and one evening she decided she’d had enough and so when he came in the next evening…she got the shotgun out when he reached for the iron-skillet and when he turned around she shot him through the chest, and she lived the rest of her days in peace, never re-married. She lived right behind my house here.
I knew her for a long time, a good ol’ woman, hard-working. She’s who I learned to grow a garden from.
No harm. No pun. But every situation can be overcome, through the Lord’s guidance.

Well ok. Apart from the fact it asks a question that is 100% unrelated to applying for a job, what would stop people from lying?
Personally I’d find it quite funny and I’d answer it as such:
no, good, men, yes-men (no im not gay, but itd be pretty funny when they arrested me and still had no evidence I was gay).
48. Jeremiah | May 11th, 2008 at 1:24 am
itd be pretty funny when they arrested me and still had no evidence I was gay).
That’s ok, you would learn after the first chance, because you would learn before the second chance that you only get one chance to be truthful.
And…..when people understand the laws, you don’t have to deal with people, because they ain’t gonna be lookin’ for trouble.
That’s the problem these day, we don’t have any law to speak about….there’s no Christian sentiment against immorality….instead, they promote it.
Mercy can only be taken to a certain extent, and under different circumstances. Otherwise, it fills the hearts of the people with schemes to do evil…because they take advantage of it, until eventually the whole society is corrupted and evil takes over.
But what can you do? I just throw my arms up in the air and say, ‘Little ol’ me, what good is my voice… ittle ol’ me.’ Underneath all these power-hungry big shots.
But something inside says, ‘Don’t give up! Don’t give up! Someone cares!!’ … I smile and look up, shake my head, ‘Yes, somebody does care.’

I think this thread takes the cake here at BfV.
And what about male-female anal sex Jeremiah? You are aware that the practice of sodomy is not confined to men only? Would you seek to punish men and women who engage in it?
What might a suitable punishment be do you think?
And why exactly are you so interested in other people’s sexualty and the expression thereof? Especially when it is consensual and private?
Your obsession with what people do with their penises - have you ever though that it is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS? No?

I think I have earned a right to be here by not commenting on this thread after comment #33 when it sort of devolved into chaos. Suufuce it to say this summer will be long and hot and difficult up there on Terra in the USA because the race will be on for the White House, fuel prices will continue to rise and the Common Man complaint meter will be pegged.

MSM propaganda is terrible, they might be able to brainwash sixth graders with it. Anyone with half a brain knows that It is just awful.
They lay everything at George W Bush’s feet, like he tells the sun when to come up in the morning.
People come on this blog and deposit some real weak pieces of propaganda that blame Bush for high oil and food costs, they make it sound like their are no democrats out there trading crude futures, putting pension funds in oil company stocks. No democrat farmers making money on their food.
Get real! Pelosi and her tax hikers have done nothing except drive crude prices up.

i dont know how it works up there in washington…on capitol hill where they seat those responsible for administration of our constitution….but it comes down to a few things in the eyes of normal people…everybody and thier brothers wants to blame our woe’s on Bush…they find a reason to blame him when the trash truck runs over the trash can…everything they can…but the whole truth of the matter is….they keep pointing fingers…at this and that…but they dont give us reasonable solutions to the problems…do they think that blaming people and creating “scandal” takes away the problem…absolutely not…its still there…there are still terrorists that would redo 9-11 tenfold if they could….and on capitol hilll….they just play games….refuse to authorize legislation that would protect us…that would help to bring an end to this war on terrorism…help to bring an end to our dependence on foreign energy sources…and end the housing crisis for the people of these united states instead of thier banking buddies that created it to start with…
obama is not bringing new, inovative answers to the forefront….he is doing nothing in reality…but paying lip service to his false god of power….while he constantly disassociates himself with longtime mentors and allies like wright….associations that fill our sense of right and wrong with a motivation to take up arms against tyrants…trying to whitewash his past so he can steal the future…4 years in the oval office…so when we really weight obama…we come up short on real information…and with buckets full of BS….like how he didnt pay attention to wright for 20 years…but he chose to send his children to be taught about wrights black ethics….instead of Christian ethics….
do we really need a man like him in washington…even as a senator…and certainly…in the White House….weilding the might of our nations military and intelligence services….over the entire world….
i doubt he could pay attention long enough to make it worth our while….

The MSM fortunately has an easier audience to convince other than middle school children–undecided voters. Undecided voters are not like the people here who are set in their support for the GOP, at all costs, they will actually vote on issues that matter to them. McCain will get the votes of the base who vote party before their own wallets and that will earn him every state in the South west of Georgia. All of the Rockies CO, ID, WY, UT, MT, both Dakotas and NV can go to McCain as well. Undecided voters will have a single issue in november and that is what will make them pull the lever. The question based on that issue will be “Are you better off now than you were eight years ago?”
If the answer to that question in OH, PA, MI, FL, GA, NC, SC and VA is a resounding “no” among undecided voters then Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States. Generally, in US presidential elections when economy is at issue the incumbent party is handily defeated.
And Eric had the US economy gone pear shaped in 1995 I am sure the conservatives would have been out in force “blaming” Clinton for all their personal woes. Chalk it up to human nature my friend, your species just does not like to look in the mirror and point to themselves when things go wrong.

When Americans are concerned about feeding their families, keeping their shelter and their jobs they have two choices. They can exact a measure of revenge by thwoing out the bums they have for a new set of bums they hope can do a better job for them or they can all sit in a circle and hold hands and pray until their bills are paid and their cold spaces are filled with food and drink. Most of them will choose the voting booth and accept any agent of change who has says he is listening to them. You may call them “oh ye of little faith” but twhn you are ye of little currency such religious rhetoric rings terribly hollow.

Cavalor-
The question you asked? I’m I better off than eight years ago?
Did the Clinton Gun Ban expire? Yes, we are all better off!!!. Freedom has truimphed over European Socialist tactics to disarm the our country and leave it vunerable.
If I make a few bucks less than a Union Shop down the road. oh well, I talked with people who work there and the bosses are real fussy and not pleasant to work for anyway.
I’m I worse off? Maybe I like my schedule!
Some folks my have invested in the right things at the right time. I did not, I could have made a tons of money in the Stock Market. Ok I’m not a good trader, but Unemployment is low if your not a sucessful business man and wanna work, it is there waiting for you.
Tell me what the democrats have done so well. Nothing is jumping out as a great acheivment in my memory.

72. js | May 11th, 2008 at 6:34 pm
if the government really wanted to help the economy…it would move toward 2 goals…1 would be to stop taking more taxes from people than they are entitled too…resulting in a massive waste of energy in both private and government sectors…which would eliminate the need for returns to be filed in the first place…and the second would be to eliminate the need to give people back thier money…at an expense of hundreds of millions per year…by scraping the current tax code and going to a flat rate income tax with deductions made through the current employer/employee relationship…it would not be hard to make any needed adjustments to deductions for individual employee entitlements and credits at the employer level and that system already exists…
beyond that…harping on some illusion that americans are scraping the bottom of the bucket to feed thier kids and pay thier rent/mortgage doesnt make americans dumb Cavalor…you dont seem to respect individual intelligence any more than any of the other idiots that represent liberal thought around here…to the point that you suppose that americans can have the wool pulled over their eyes by a fast talking con man like barak hussein obama because they want change….the whole truth is that change has been the liberal trumpet since the 06 elections….and not a damn thing has changed…so you need to find a new con…we arent buying your old one…

JS-
I agree, taxes are a biggest part of why people are depressed and miserable like the democrats say they are.
If we had good politicians, they would be looking to generate money in ways other than just taking it from us. What if states, grew corn along the side of the expressways. Instead of grass, that still has to be cut. Why not use some genetically enginereed corn that grows real fast and have the state turn it into fuel. The (cloverleaves) by the entrance and exit ramps is just idle land that has to be mowed any way. I don’t wanna be dependant on Chavez, or any of these goons that just wanna rip everyone off. Each state could set there own prices.
75. Jeremiah | May 11th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
That’s a great idea, Eric T.
A lot of states grow wildflowers…but like the clover, what good are they…but to wither up and fall over.
The more bio-fuels the better…we could maybe even try turning grass seed into fuel…something… anything to get away from Saudi Arabia and them other countries.
76. js | May 11th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
i dont think corn is as drought tollerant as the sod the drop off on highways…it would need more care…but all governments do is spend spend spend…all it takes is the will to accomplish it….
