I didn’t know this until I read Bret Stephens’ WSJ column yesterday. Who said the following?
“Well, I think if you’ve got a guy named Barack Hussein Obama, that’s a pretty good contrast to George W. Bush.”
Answer: Barack Hussein Obama.
Bret recounts:
Sometime before Barack Obama’s middle name slipped into the realm of the unmentionable, it was supposed to be a selling point of his candidacy. “Well, I think if you’ve got a guy named Barack Hussein Obama, that’s a pretty good contrast to George W. Bush,” Mr. Obama told PBS’s Tavis Smiley on October 18, 2007. “If you believe that we’ve got to heal America and we’ve got to repair our standing in the world, then I think my supporters believe that I am the messenger who can deliver that message.”
Of course, that must be before someone in the Obama camp poll-tested “Hussein” and found it to be political poison - from that point, it became an act of pure evil to mention Obama’s middle name. Well, I’m not having any of that - its his name, and there’s an end on it. If Obama is ashamed of it, he should let us know. For the record, my name is Mark Edward Noonan, and you can do with it anything you like as I’m proud of the whole thing: “Mark” for St. Mark; “Edward” for my grand-uncle Edward Diggins; “Noonan” for my family, which stretches back into the mists of Ireland.

NYT: As the son of the Muslim father, Senator Obama was born a Muslim under Muslim law as it is universally understood. It makes no difference that, as Senator Obama has written, his father said he renounced his religion. Likewise, under Muslim law based on the Koran his mother’s Christian background is irrelevant.
Of course, as most Americans understand it, Senator Obama is not a Muslim. He chose to become a Christian, and indeed has written convincingly to explain how he arrived at his choice and how important his Christian faith is to him.
His conversion, however, was a crime in Muslim eyes; it is “irtidad” or “ridda,” usually translated from the Arabic as “apostasy,” but with connotations of rebellion and treason. Indeed, it is the worst of all crimes that a Muslim can commit, worse than murder (which the victim’s family may choose to forgive).
With few exceptions, the jurists of all Sunni and Shiite schools prescribe execution for all adults who leave the faith not under duress; the recommended punishment is beheading at the hands of a cleric, although in recent years there have been both stonings and hangings. (Some may point to cases in which lesser punishments were ordered — as with some Egyptian intellectuals who have been punished for writings that were construed as apostasy — but those were really instances of supposed heresy, not explicitly declared apostasy as in Senator Obama’s case.)
It is true that the criminal codes in most Muslim countries do not mandate execution for apostasy (although a law doing exactly that is pending before Iran’s Parliament and in two Malaysian states). But as a practical matter, in very few Islamic countries do the governments have sufficient authority to resist demands for the punishment of apostates at the hands of religious authorities. …
Because no government is likely to allow the prosecution of a President Obama — not even those of Iran and Saudi Arabia, the only two countries where Islamic religious courts dominate over secular law — another provision of Muslim law is perhaps more relevant: it prohibits punishment for any Muslim who kills any apostate, and effectively prohibits interference with such a killing.
At the very least, that would complicate the security planning of state visits by President Obama to Muslim countries, because the very act of protecting him would be sinful for Islamic security guards. More broadly, most citizens of the Islamic world would be horrified by the fact of Senator Obama’s conversion to Christianity once it became widely known — as it would, no doubt, should he win the White House. This would compromise the ability of governments in Muslim nations to cooperate with the United States in the fight against terrorism, as well as American efforts to export democracy and human rights abroad.

I am sure you read Newt’s article last week at Human Events about how if the GOP wants to lose all they need to do is focus their campaign against Obama as the “Rev. Wright, He’s Black, Secretly Muslim and Did you know his middle name is Hussein and last name rhymes with Osama.” This stuff works with the dopes and mouth breathers but not with swing voters, who as you know decide elections.
Newt thinks that poltical campaigns are won by the person with the better ideas. How novel. Also, what do think of McCain’s speech today in Oregon on Global Warming?

I really don’t care. Say his name, shout it from the roof tops if you like. It doesn’t matter to me as long as you support our President Hussein starting next January.
I would also like to ask how Freedom1’s post is not off topic. It makes no mention of Barrack’s middle name, is something he copied from the NYT and goes on about about what muslims believe.

Obama’s election as President will spell war in the middle east and the possible demise of Isreal as the muslims will believe that he will take no action against them.
It will also mean the integration of Taiwan into China, via invasion. As the Chinese know that Obama will not lift a finger to stop them.
It may also result in the re-integration of some of the former soviet bloc states back into Russia.
And it will confrim to the world that the US has gone from Super Power to Paper Tiger.

America got there phnx the instant it decided to go to war in Iraq without the effective number of troops to do so for political reasons and its unwillingness when faced with its inability to rotate troops in the proper numbers a failure to institute a draft in the winter of 2004. Had those things been done 400 000+ troops could have been kept in iraq for the three years it would have taken to win the war and the peace. Alas, 2004 was a presidential election year and seeing young men burning draft cards, again, would not have contributed to building a “permanent majority,” would it?

Your post falls far short of proving your point that the US is a paper tiger.
1) 50 million people freed from oppression.
2) Free elections in two muslim nations for the first time in history.
3) 90% of al Queda dead or captured, the rest in hidding.
4) No new attacks on the US since 9/11
5) No country willing to face off against the US military.
You greatly misunderestimate the military strength, effectiveness, determination and readiness of the US military.
If Obama becomes President you can expect some very cold winters for Eurostan, as Putin manipulates the gas supply to influence policy in the EU.
