Maxine Waters (D-CA) Wants to Nationalise the Oil Industry
May 23rd, 2008 at 01:21pm Mark Noonan
And some liberals still screech at us for accusing them of being socialists. See the video here.
Interesting that a lady who thinks that the crack epidemic was courtesy of the CIA can get elected and re-elected…and Democrats will allow her on camera!

poor maxine is tilting at windmills.
at first pass, the prime legislative targets would be the (intentional) devaluing of the US dollar…
…oil is priced in devalued dollars, maxine…
….then speculators who at NO point are REQUIRED to physically possess the product in the logistics train.
specualtors don’t; explore, drill, extract, store, transport, refine, nor retail the product.
political sloganeering, posturing, & pandering is NOT leadership!

The most interesting thing about this video is the woman in the background laughing at her.

“The most interesting thing about this video is the woman in the background laughing at her.”
I saw that too. Pretty funny.

OT, but the modernized GI bill finally passed the Senate with only 23 people(R) voting ‘Nay’. McCain skipped the vote. Obama and Hillary both voted.

Maybe BO will make her AG. She will fit in an Obama administration perfectly.

haha, nothing like a little backpedaling on live television to make a friday afternoon. That plays like something from a bad movie. Well done Maxine, no more oil companies, give the government control of the oil, all the oil Rawr…
Someone never told her about the ‘easy’ button.

Maxine’s gaff is more than likely what the democrat leadership discusses behind closed doors. She has just laid bare the real soul of the donkey party, for all to see.

I read where Chavez nationalized “big oil” there. now, they are behind in production, which is also contributing to a lower supply.
Obviously, Chavez and the liberals here wanted the money and power grab.
The libs ran on lowering gasoline and oil with “common sense” legislation. How much have oil and gas risen since they took office? Where is their legislation?
All they are doing is demonizing “big oil” and giving the mislead impression that if they are elected in November, that they will solve the problem, but they have not fulfilled their promise from 2006.
Will the lemming left fall for it again?
Yep!

Its always nice to see what the libs really want to do instead of listening to them tell us what they think we want to hear.

Is Magnum the only one of you leftists willing to defend Maxine’s plan to nationalize the oil industry? Come on out of the closet…we know you’re in there lefties. Reveal yourselves for the commies that you all are. Step one in your 12 step plan is to admit you have this problem.

Leftist respone:
***********crickets************
You do know that silence gives consent. So unless you condemn her comments we must assume that you agree, and that you, with the exception of Magnum, are too spineless to admit it.

Very rarely can somebody say that something would truly be better if it were administered by the government. That being said, with great fear and trepidation I say that the time has come for Americans to take the future of their energy into their own hands and nationalize the oil exploration, extraction and processing that takes place within the borders of the United States.
I say this for a number of reasons. If oil were nationalized, it would be a government corporation for the people and by the people. This American corporation would work for the people rather than a select few billionaires in a boardroom somewhere. On top of that, any profits that the nationalized firm makes can go toward developing technologies for greater American independence, such as fuel cells, ethanol and oil shale.
It is safe to say that nationalized oil is the wave of the future. Why should the government settle for letting a wealthy corporation take billions in profits while it takes only a teeny fraction of that in royalties? Other nationalized oil firms, such as PEMEX in Mexico and PDVSA in Venezuela, pump any profits they have straight back to their governments, and hence, the profits go to their people. With America?s current system, instead of helping ourselves, we help a select few. I?m not against companies making a profit, but I can see no reason Exxon?s CEO, Lee Raymond, should receive a $400 million retirement package while we pay $3.00 for a gallon of gas. Wouldn?t it be nice to know that when you fill up at the gas pump, a little of that money that you spend, in some little way, goes right back into your pocket?

So conservatives are claiming success if the Energy Policy Act of 2005 passed by the Republican Congress results in U.S taxpayers paying among the most for a gallon of gasoline.
Gas prices around the world
NEW YORK (CNN/Money)
Saudi Arabia Riyadh $0.91
Kuwait Kuwait City $0.78
Egypt Cairo $0.65
Nigeria Lagos $0.38
Venezuela Caracas $0.12

Streetwalker,
why haven’t the liberals done anything about high oil and gas prices since they took control of Congress in 2006 and ran on that very theme?
Where is their “common sense” legislation that they promised in 2006?
Hint: they want higher prices thinking that it will give them the White House, while America suffers. Wallow in their strategy on the backs of the poor and middle class, during this period of politics that is more important to liberal power whores than our economy, streetwalker.

Does take time to undo the mess. If you paid attention this week the oil executives testified under oath. I believe under the Republican Congress they spoke under a gentlemen’s agreement. Hearings such as these often lead to legisltation. Now will you start writing in right wing blogs urging members to write their Republican senators requesting they not filabuster a Democratic lead new energy policy?

Here is an interesting page.
Go to the bottom and look at the percentages of money per barrel.
pay CLOSE attention to the % profit per barrell and % TAXES per barrel.
Funny all we hear from earbama, and hitlery is “the obscene profits ya de ya……We NEVER hear about the DOUBLE OBSCENE TAXES. Which is almost double the profits.

streetwalker,
“write their Republican senators requesting they not filabuster a Democratic lead new energy policy?”
IF, IF, not when, IF libs present their energy policy (2 years overdue) then if it is good, sound and reasonable policy then I all for no filibusters.
Well it has been admitted that the Democrats campaigning for election in 2006 were not honest in their platform. Oh, surprise surprise. So their “common sense” legislation for lower oil and gas was BS. Meanwhile, Pelosi is going to spend millions on making the capitol building green which has a payoff in 40 years.
Wow, it takes time to undo a mess? What a cop-out answer. Bush did not take long to undo the tax increase mess of Bill Clinton. The liberals control the legislative agenda - but all we have seen in pork spending, earmarks, no confidence votes, non-binding resolution, but no actual legitimate legislation to fulfill their promises.
