Democratic Congressman Admits Democrats Used Dishonest Tactics in 2006

May 24th, 2008 at 06:09pm Mark Noonan

The shock here isn’t the dishonesty, but the admission of dishonesty:

I’ll tell you my impression. We really in this last election, when I say we…the Democrats, I think pushed it as far as we can to the end of the fleet, didn’t say it, but we implied it. That if we won the Congressional elections, we could stop the war. Now anybody was a good student of Government would know that wasn’t true. But you know, the temptation to want to win back the Congress, we sort of stretched the facts…and people ate it up.

That is Paul Kanjorski (D-PA), and if you think he didn’t say it, then just go here and you can see him saying it on video.

And the people did eat it up - leftwing people…will you on the left now, finally, admit that the Democratic party is relentlessly dishonest and only interested in securing power and wealth for itself? Really, lefties, they don’t give a damn about you, or about anyone…power and wealth, wealth and power…that is all they care about, and it is all they will ever care about as long as you on the left mindlessly keep giving them your votes and your money and refuse to call them to account for their rank corruption. You wanted ‘em, lefties - and now you got ‘em.

What will you do in November?

    That’s gotta sting.

But with minions like SAR, Tractatus and Pain it doesn’t exactly take a lot to fool them.

  • 2. phnx  |  May 24th, 2008 at 6:42 pm

How does it feel leftist lemmings to be regarded by your elected Democrat representatives as useful idiots.

  • 3. Casper  |  May 24th, 2008 at 7:17 pm

“admit that the Democratic party is relentlessly dishonest and only interested in securing power and wealth for itself?”

It is. Now, if only we could find someone on the right honest enough to admit that the Republican party is the same way.

  • 4. neocon  |  May 24th, 2008 at 7:21 pm

Isn’t Democratic honesty about their dishonesty refreshing Casper? I’m sure the people in the 51st, 52nd, 53rd, 54th, 55th, 56th and 57th states appreciate their openness about their dishonesty.

And they might just appreciate their ignorance too.

    Casper,

No, we’re not - there are dishonest GOPers; the Democratic leadership is corrupt through and through. The difference is that the GOP has its number of normal, fallible human beings while the Democrat leaders have made the conscious decision that doing the wrong thing is in their best interest.

  • 6. Street Riot  |  May 24th, 2008 at 7:44 pm

Oh, my God a Congressman actually said I think… And that is translated to be the actual thoughts and feelings of the Democratic leadership by the swift-boaters. Who would have guessed?

Let us talk about of list of dishonest legislators; Tom Delay, Duke Cunningham, Bill Frist, Mark Foley, Kathrine Harris, Bob Ney, Curt Weldon, Ted Stevens, Pete Domenici, Tim Murphy, John Doolittle, David Vitter, Larry Craig and most recently Vito Fossela. To be honest these are just the ones that come to the top of my head. I barely got into the K street crowd.

Hey, I live in the 55th state in Obama’s mind. The best part is that his campaign has yet to find us on the map!! YIPPEE!

I walked into the gym lobby yesterday, and read the daily quote written on a whiteboard easel. The quote ”proud to be an America, for at least I know i’m free”–Lee Greenwood. With a number of people there, I announced that I thought for a second Michelle Obama had taken credit for that, and there was an explosion of laughter. No Obama voters in that crowd.

  • 8. Casper  |  May 24th, 2008 at 7:47 pm

    Mark,
You mean like when Bush lied about keeping Rumsfeld as Defense Secretary just before the last election. Sorry, the Republican Party is every bit as bad as the Democratic Party. You guys are just afraid to admit it.

  • 9. neocon  |  May 24th, 2008 at 7:51 pm

Aren’t our resident liberals doing exactly what the same thing that they accuse conservatives of doing when caught? Blame others for worse behaviour!

Yes, I think they are. And I thought they were above that? I thought they were the “smart” ones?

    Guess not.

  • 10. Casper  |  May 24th, 2008 at 7:57 pm

“Aren’t our resident liberals doing exactly what the same thing that they accuse conservatives of doing when caught? Blame others for worse behaviour!”

Actually, I’m not accusing conservatives of being any worst, just the same.

  • 11. Tractatus  |  May 24th, 2008 at 9:08 pm

Actually, I’m not accusing conservatives of being any worst, just the same.

Precisely. But somehow, that translates to being “worse” to the wingnuts.

Newsflash, people: Politicians are crooked, dishonest, only care about power, will manipulate, etc. Not Democrats, not Republicans, politicians. That Mark Noonan will still give votes and money to Republicans while refusing to admit their rank corruption (even going so far as to laughably assert that actually, while pointing the finger at Democrats for doing the same thing is a sadly predictable bit of humor. That he thinks the Republican leadership actually gives a damn about him is just plain sad.

Incidentally, neocon, I’m not a Democrat. Or a Republican. Nor will I ever be either one. I think political parties are lame, and I think only stupid people who can’t think for themselves become hardcore partisans. But I wouldn’t expect a hardcore partisan such as yourself to understand that.

    Hey streetwalker,

There is a difference. When Republicans get caught the are forced to resign or answer for their crimes.

When libs get caught, they get appointed to heads of committees.

It will never cease to amaze me that the libs will always justify or make excuses for their politicians behavior. When they get caught red-handed in bold face lies, ie. stop the war, enact legislation to bring down the prices of oil and gas, etc etc., the excuses still spew forth and their support does not waver.

  • 13. JS  |  May 25th, 2008 at 1:06 am

whats the first thing a liberal does when he finds out he has been a lemming for the last 3 years that ate up all the lies and campain promises….they change the subject….lol….liberals…its not like they have any real value….

  • 14. ViralNexus  |  May 26th, 2008 at 4:04 am

I could be wrong about this but weren’t there some 13 or so attempts to pass legislation by the Democrats to effectively end the war all of which were vetoed or threatened to be vetoed by Bush? I can already tell that quote is taken out of context. The true context being that they knew they would never get an End of Hostilities bill past this President. But that never kept them from trying. You say they lied, I say the political system has failed all of us. When was the last time any country was $10 trillion in debt with a faltering economy and a backless paper fiat currency and managed to survive? But hey, it’s all worth it I guess.

  • 15. neocon  |  May 26th, 2008 at 10:22 am

    Viral,

Good little lemming. All it would have taken would have been an up or down vote on the funding, which your fine representatives never had the courage to bring to the floor.

But they tried right? I want leaders that achieve results, not try for results. But maybe that’s just me.

    6. Street Riot | May 24th, 2008 at 7:44 pm

You missed half of them but We get the point. A family could build a franchise passed on from generation to generation detailing the corruption among GOP linked lobbyists on K Street.

    9. neocon | May 24th, 2008 at 7:51 pm

This election cycle is simple all Democratic candidates have to do is keep repeating, “Are you better off now than you were 8 years ago?” and all the stars will line up as they should. Your side had their run and they have been rejected in both word and deed at the ballot box in 2006. Moderates swept your neocons and theocons aside and your own base stayed at home and ate popcorn as they likely will in opposition to McCain in November.

But look at it this way my friend, you succeeded in doing what you set out to do in Congress, to create a permanent majority. It just happens to be a Democratic party majority but it is and will be as permanent as a majority can be in the US say around 30 Terran years, maybe 40?

And as far as lying to voters go . . . the push polls in New Hampshire in 2008 used by McCain’s people? The push polls against McCain in 2000 in SC compare to this bit of partisan chicanery how?

    12. Danish Artist | May 24th, 2008 at 11:21 pm

Could you explain Stevens, Vitter, Craig and Fossella then?

  • 17. neocon  |  May 26th, 2008 at 11:29 am

    Pain,

I can never take you seriously again after this post of yours:

    >>>As a conservative I don’t like what you do but since I realize most people want a liberal government and their civil liberties and that this is my agreement with conservatism’s narrow view of individual freedoms that can only exist if they are Biblically allowable, or patriotically traditional, I must attack the liberal source. By personally insulting my opponent and forcing them into appearing weak, or even feminine, I can successfully dodge being exposed as a theocrat, a bigot, a homophobe or an anti-capitalist or even all the above. When you seek to control the lives of others because of your own insecurities this is the only card in the deck you have to play.”>>>>

You are completely detached from reality and have boughten into liberal propaganda hook, line and sinker.

Remember the axiom: A mind is a terrible thing to waste?

You personify that saying. A useful idiot indeed.

    17. neocon | May 26th, 2008 at 11:29 am

And you say this never happens? When We have limited data We go to sources that can clarify with more input. It appears when you have that problem you insult, and obfuscate. A learned man would seek answers not dig his feet in the sand and shout, “I am right and there will be no discussion of facts.” Such action is not the reasoned way of the sane.

There is no waste in the Mind of the Collective.

  • 19. phnx  |  May 26th, 2008 at 11:06 pm

“There is no waste in the Mind of the Collective.” Pain

    Neo,

It looks like Bagni is not the only alien infecting this site. It appears that ‘we,ourselves’ are the Borg. Reasoning is futile.
