Obama Leaves Trinity United

The news story:
Barack Obama and his wife Michelle have resigned their membership at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, FOX News has confirmed, after controversies stemming from the congregation created a persistent distraction for Obama’s campaign.
The criticism started with the sermons of his former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., but Obama’s pastor problems were compounded this week by the Rev. Michael Pfleger, whose videotaped guest sermon at the church Sunday showed him taunting Hillary Clinton and saying she felt she was “entitled” to the presidency because she’s white.
Obama said he was deeply disappointed by the remarks and Pfleger apologized, but Clinton’s campaign still demanded Obama specifically reject the latest remarks.
By resigning his membership, Obama is taking the most definitive stand to date against the church.
All he needs to do now is to specifically condemn the actual teaching, by name, of Trinity United - once he does that, then the matter is closed. I doubt that he will, though; too much of his leftwing base is 100% in agreement with the preaching of Trinity United. Right now, he’s just in major damage control - we’ll have to see if he’s (a) learned how wrong he was to be a member for 20 years and (b) is willing to make amends for being a member of such a group.

Obama got his ’street cred’ from Trinity which helped get his political career started. But now he no longer needs to ‘cling’ to Trinity, so he can afford to make comments about how ’shocked’ or ’saddened’ he is about what went on there.
Question is, when will he start repudiating his past associations with Ayers, Rezko and others?

However, since Nobama already has written of the substantial influence the Rev. Wright has had on Nobama himself, dissassociating with Trinity now is a little like locking the barn after the Bull hit the neighbor’s heifers.

That is a strong leftwing case for opposing Obama - and, as it turns out, its half the right wing case for opposing him, too…he’s just another politician coming out of stew of corrupt Democratic Chicago politics…if anyone really expects him to be the agent of change, he just hasn’t been paying attention.
The curious thing is that President Bush has been accused of being the front man for various special interest groups which hide behind his amiable facade and make policy in back room…that is actually an apt description of the way an Obama Administration would work.

Is it an American thing, this dirty fighting to become leader?
The issues seem to be of little importance when compared to the effort spent on sullying the opponent.
When finally elected, is there some sort of miraculous transformation that takes place where all negative aspects that was attributed to him or her during the election process are lost and we now have a person worthy of leading the free world?
Perhaps, it’s just a crazy game y’all play to jazz up the long and tedious journey that takes place every four years and I guess politics without all the tawdry showbiz nonsense wouldn’t be entertaining enough.

Obama cites are his reason for leaving: “a cultural and style gap”. What does that mean? The preachers should have been more subtle in their attacks on the US?
Notice that he didn’t distance himself from black liberation ideology.
He has now decided to wait until January to decide on a new church. Could it be that he is waiting until after his innaugeration to come out of the closet?
