Jimmy Carter Endorses Barack Obama
June 3rd, 2008 at 09:48pm Matt Margolis
UPDATE, by Mark Noonan: She didn’t quit. Not even slightly. Interesting.
UPDATE, by Mark Noonan: And we GOPers are rarin’ to go:
As Barack Obama wheezes over the finish line to his Party’s nomination, he has failed to convince voters that he has the experience and judgment to serve as Commander in Chief. Just as many members of his own Party refused to support his misguided policies, the majority of Americans will reject Obama’s plans to meet with hostile leaders instead of America ’s military commanders, and raise taxes on families and small businesses. The Republican Party is united behind John McCain, and we look forward to his debates with Barack Obama on how best to create new jobs at home and win the war against radical Islamic extremism. - Mike Duncan, RNC Chairman

Let’s see here, gas was about $1.50 when Bush became president and now is almost $4.00.
2. Mark Noonan | June 3rd, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Obama,
But we at least have gas - were you alive in 1980?
3. Rich | June 3rd, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Obama08- What was the price of gas when democrats took over congress? Average price was $2.18 Jan 10th, 2007. So why did the democratic congress oversee the doubling of gas prices in one and a half years? Do you remember the democrats running in 2006 promised to cut gas prices? What happened?
4. Obama08 | June 3rd, 2008 at 10:19 pm
I was alive in 1980 and I don’t think the federal debt was anything close to $9 trillion.
Or for that matter, I do not recall the nation’s largest banks begging the Fed for cash. Or home foreclose rates so high. Or the cost of health insurance and education leaping so much.
And even after the catastrophe of Vietnam and the Iranian Hostage Crisis the United States still had respect in this world if not financial clout.
But after three Republican presidents (Bush41-Reagan-Bush43) that through negligence, incompetence and criminal neglect, we have lost two wars and one American city.
After this last president America is on the floor and cannot go any lower. Anything but another Bush term, i.e. McCain will be an improvement.
5. neocon | June 3rd, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Obama,
You don’t remember the double digit interest rates, the double digit unemployment rates and the misery indexes of 1979?
C’mon. Were ya stoned?
6. Casper | June 3rd, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Wow, Let’s have argument over who was the worst president, Carter or Bush. I vote foe a tie.
7. neocon | June 3rd, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Economically speaking Casper, Bush hasn’t done too poorly. He inherited an economy coming off the tech bubble burst, suffered the blows of 9/11, Katrina and the War and still has 53 consecutive quarters of GDP growth, low unemployment, and low interest rates. Not bad.
8. Obama08 | June 3rd, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Casper:
I think the polls decisively show that Bush is the worst ever.
In fact that’s exactly what the polls show.
We know it to be true.
At least Carter was an honest man that acted with integrity even when wrong.
Thanks to the revelations of Paul O’Niell, Richard Clarke and Scott McClellan we have confirmation that Bush acted out of political malice, greed, stupidity and arrogance.
9. Obama08 | June 3rd, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Neocon:
That “growth” you talk about was reserved for corporations and the upper class.
Real wages have declined to say nothing of the buying power or the American dollar, which of course is at historic lows.
10. James | June 3rd, 2008 at 11:00 pm
real wages actually went up. check your facts.
11. GOP4ME | June 3rd, 2008 at 11:02 pm
“I think the polls decisively show that Bush is the worst ever.”
Man, you lefties come up with some funny shite. I did a spit take when I read that. Gotta clean the diet coke off of my screen.
I will say I find it ironic that Oblama is complaining about high gas prices when in the late 1970’s his boy brought about gas rationing (ie. no gas to be had). But hey no gas is better than expensive gas, um right? Ya dope.
You artificially keep prices low and guess what, no one wants to sell it.
Man you guys are so D-U-M-B you could screw up a rock fight.
12. GOP4ME | June 3rd, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Obama where do you get your “facts”? Kos?
real wages have gone up you (person I am displeased with) as have government tax receipts. Goodness your stupidity is breathtaking.
13. neocon | June 3rd, 2008 at 11:05 pm
Facts are elusive to Obama.
It’s propaganda that matters.
“Growth was reserved for…” I loved that line.
And three bitter, barely competent, former administration members are now the end all authority in defining this administration.
Priceless
14. Casper | June 3rd, 2008 at 11:08 pm
“And three bitter, barely competent, former administration members are now the end all authority in defining this administration.”
So why would Bush hire barely competent people for his administration?
15. neocon | June 3rd, 2008 at 11:19 pm
He tried to hire more than that. Remember Harriet Meyers?
My point is that Presidents hire hundreds of people over two terms. And yet 3, are held up as all knowing, and truthers.
16. tom | June 3rd, 2008 at 11:35 pm
So why did the democratic congress oversee the doubling of gas prices in one and a half years? Do you remember the democrats running in 2006 promised to cut gas prices? What happened?
Gas Prices are not a noble cause. They spent more time on Skooter Libby than they did on the price of a gallon of gas and how it impacts consumers.
17. Obama08 | June 3rd, 2008 at 11:36 pm
The responses to my posts prove that there really are two Americas.
One is based on reality, in which I reside with many others and then the other is nbased on cult worship and fantasy.
This world of fantasy corresponds rather well to the regions of the U.S. that were slave states, lynched blacks and enforced Jim Crow.
It is also a region that harbors bigotry against other Americans for their sexual preferences and seeks to control womens’ reproductive organs.
This region of cult worship and fantasy also is anti-science and and anti-freedom and largely believes and angry sky god created the world 6,000 years ago.
That America is truly a dinosaur that relishes electing Neanderthals to public offices.
18. js | June 3rd, 2008 at 11:37 pm
I though gas was pretty reasonable in a time of war up to about the time the Demoncrats got control of congress….since 2006, its gone up over 70%……funny….I really cant see how Bush caused it….when the Republican lead Congress met with big oil, the price dropped waaaay back….
19. js | June 3rd, 2008 at 11:47 pm
when it comes down to the real truth…supported by facts…a very high percentage of americans reject homosexuality and abortion…its not the people of the united states that accept immoral behavior as normal or natural….its the liberal courts and the failure of our elected officials to act responsibly if the face of facts that have existed for ages…women have control of thier reproductive system…except for when they are rapped…abortion is nothing more than an easy next day pill that removed the responsibility of that control….by providing a “legitimatized” lie to excuse the murder of life that has been created…and face it…the only religion you are endorsing isnt atheism…and murder…and sexual deviance….and the only results that it will reap is the destruction of the social fiber that created america…..its a rotten tree…and nothing good comes from it….
20. Mark Noonan | June 3rd, 2008 at 11:49 pm
Obama,
Ran out of talking points that fast? Geesh, back in 2004 the DNC-talkers who’d come here could go hours before they ran out…if this is the best the Obamaniacs got, we’re going to have you for lunch…
21. Obama08 | June 4th, 2008 at 12:16 am
Mark:
In the words of your failed, unrepentant, ignorant, irresponsible and immoral flight suited doofus Bush:
“Bring it on.”
PS: No Supreme Court intervention this time, dude. (After McCain’s “I’m not Bush” speech tonight it won’t even be that close)
22. Jeremiah | June 4th, 2008 at 12:34 am
This region of cult worship and fantasy also is anti-science
Obama08,
How so?
Did it ever occur to you that we would like to know the REAL facts first?
One thing I’ve noticed in your camp, is that people can secure a little evidence i.e, find some numbers then beef them up and create imaginary numbers in turn, creating a major HAZMAT effect,
“OMG EVERYBODY GO INSIDE, DON’T BREATHE, DON”T MOVE, SHUT THE WINDOWS SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING WE HAVE TO REVERSE THE FLOW OF THE MISSISSIPPI THERE’S “HUGE” AMOUNTS OF DIOXIN IN THE WATER OH NO!!!! THERE’S A SNAIL IT’S GONNA DIE WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO???”
Wait a minute little fellow, calm down, let’s check let’s double check again and make sure what you’re saying is right before we do this…Can we?
“No, there’s no need, I’ve got the findings right here in this report.”
I know, but let’s check and see, first, kay?
“OK”
Let’s see here….000.73 Micrograms per 10,000 gallons of water…..and you mean to tell me you’re going to shut down the whole country and dam up the Mississippi for tiny traces of dioxin? Shew! I’m sure glad we checked again.
But…in reality, do we? Most usually not, because as we well know liberals, they are persistent in their quest for Iron Rule.
So what kind of scenario do we have here?
A scientist (supposed) who who takes his findings to the extreme, creating a false report, and then left-wing academia get ahold of it and start to think, “hmmm, that’s an idea” so they use it as a tool to put themselves in the spotlight, and they walk around feeling like Paul Bunyan in their minds….yet, not realizing the overall adverse affect they are having on the greater population for their straight out lies…but do they care? Oh yes! you see, that’s what they want, you left-wingers want to use science as a political tool, create false reports, call it “politically correct” and rule the masses with an iron fist.
Liberalism, it’s all about control, which merges with socialism, and then setting up dictatorial rule. That’s why your man Barack is soooo dangerous.
Science can be productive, or it can dangerous. It’s all in the individual who pursuing and using it.
I think God wold have us use it in a concept to our benefit…..afterall, that’s why He gave us a brain! But most of all to uplift and glorify Him.

Obama,
Geesh, back to 2002 talking points! Still seething over Gore’s inability to steal FL, still hating President Bush…bitterness is a terrible thing, ya know?

3. Rich | June 3rd, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Nixon in 1973 started the trend of Arab oil exporters using oil as a political tool.
According to Mr. Noonan’s photomontage petrol prices and availability are a part of a president’s energy policy and his responsibility. I take it as a reader I am supposed to take from viewing the 1979 AP photo of petrol lines that this was Jimmy Carter’s fault. If that is the case then the responsibility for $5 diesel and $4 petrol are to be left at the feet of President George Walker Bush. And a side note, even as the economy sank to levels it had not seen since the Recession of 1958 Jimmy Carter still did not have approval ratings as low as George W Bush has now. Only Harry Truman as the Korean War raged on and America was mired in the Red Scare had a lower figure than your sitting President at 22%.
25. Marty13 | June 4th, 2008 at 5:47 am
Casper asked, “So why would Bush hire barely competent people for his administration?
Then NEO said, “He tried to hire more than that. Remember Harriet Meyers?”
Sorry NEO I just can’t let that one pass.
Harriet Meyers!! She’s your idea of competent?
26. Magnum Serpentine | June 4th, 2008 at 7:37 am
Mark,
If it would mean that the big oil companies (Not the local owners of gas stations) are hit with criminal penalties for price gouging, then I would not mind at all sitting in a line for 1.30 a gallon gas. Ration gas to 10 gallons per car, well thats all my car will hold so bring it on.
Nice comments Obama08
27. Magnum Serpentine | June 4th, 2008 at 7:41 am
“(Quote) Still seething over Gore’s inability to steal FL,(end quote) (From Mark) ”
Mark,
President Ronald Reagan and President George H. W. Bush did not have to commit voter Fraud to win.
Just wanted you to know. (I wish Ronald Reagan were still alive and able to be president again He would fix this nation in a year if he were here)
28. hermie | June 4th, 2008 at 8:28 am
Since we are importing a majority of our oil from foreign sources, how is penalizing US oil companies for so-called ‘price gouging’ going to get more gasoline for your car?
If the US refiners have to pay the $130+/barrel on the open market, from companies headquartered in Saudi Arabia or UAE, are they supposed to ‘eat’ the losses?
29. hermie | June 4th, 2008 at 8:44 am
As for being ‘anti-science’, when those who claim that ‘the science is settled’ and refuse to debate methodology, assumptions, etc, that is far more ‘anti-science’. Science is never fully settled, even when decades of extensive and long-term testing and evaluation is performed. If the ‘consensus of scientists’ said that the atom cannot be split, or that DNA was a myth, where would we be today.
The ones who first claimed that the Bush Administration are ‘anti-science’ are those primarily involved with the Embyronic Stem Cell Research special interests. They claimed that this research would bring cures (and make paralyzed people walk again). There are moral and medical ethics issues, regarding the creation and deliberate destruction of human life for the sole purpose of experimentation. These issues could not be ignored.
As we have seen, state governments have gone ahead and backed embryonic stem cell research which hasn’t produced one positive result, while other techniques that did not rely on the destruction of life, are showing much more promise.

“PS: No Supreme Court intervention this time, dude. (After McCain’s “I’m not Bush” speech tonight it won’t even be that close)” - Obama
So let me get this straight. Liberals love, and ardently support court deceisions when they rule in favor of gay marriage, but excoriate the courts when they shut down an illegal recount.
Good to know
Obama,
You have definitely submitted your place on this blog as the “most indoctrinated”. I enjoyed your post #17, which amounted to an incoherent rambling of talking points. Priceless.
Of course, we all know that you are most likely the previous 42, USA, and or Tom Thumb. You’re all so interchangeable, sharing the same propaganda and the most likely the damaged brain.
Magnum,
Still claiming voter fraud? Do you have original thoughts? Anything? Or are you strictly in charge of the fry machine during the lunch rush?
31. neocon | June 4th, 2008 at 9:13 am
Marty13,
There’s an adjective in that sentence. It’s “barely”. That means I considered Harriet to be “barely competent”.
I am glad you asked that question though, that’s how you learn. Let me know if anything else confuses you.
32. hermie | June 4th, 2008 at 11:30 am
Remember, she was also on Harry Reid’s list of ‘acceptable’ nominees.

Neither did W, But slick al the snake oil salesman tried to.
Also
JFK DID cheat to win over Nixon…..and in illinois
Only Nixon did not want to GORE the country, so he bowed out and got it the next time around.
The supreme court only UPHELD Florida’s voting law…NOT “choose” the next POTUS as you ignorant nutroots believe.

Whatever. And what do you snowbird care about Rwanda anyway? They don’t have oil, they don’t play football and they don’t speak English.
If you vote for Mccain and things go bad he won’t get a patriotic “We support America” belly rub from the foreign press. The first time the world rallied to America after 9/11 this time the world will just stand by and kick rocks.
38. Marty13 | June 4th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
Neo snarkily replies
“There’s an adjective in that sentence. It’s “barely”. That means I considered Harriet to be “barely competent”.”
uuhhh, neo I know you’re trying to be clever and all, but barely is not an adjective in this instance. The word it modifies, competent, is not a noun.
Then neo added, “I am glad you asked that question though, that’s how you learn. Let me know if anything else confuses you.”
Only if my questions are not related to grammar.

Haven’t heard much about the “vast right-wing smear machine” lately! HRC, welcome to the MSM and the slightly more left than you smear machine. Good riddance.
