We can’t blame Obama if the judge put his poster next to Che’s, but it does make you wonder about the people who support him. By the way, I thought such posters aren’t supposed to be in a public official’s office? I know there would be screaming if a Catholic judge had a picture of the Pope up in his office.

  • 2. Brian (Boston)  |  June 17th, 2008 at 6:06 am

Isn’t it against the Hatch Act to have those posters on government property? They should be removed.

  • 3. OpChaosUK  |  June 17th, 2008 at 7:02 am

Sooo, what’s the shock? Che was a commie; Earbama’s a socialist. This should surprise noone. Wasn’t a poster of Che found hanging in one of Earbama’s campaign offices?

Don’t worry, libbies–if Earbama is elected, he’ll be my president too and I’ll show him the due respect you all showed Bush, who wasn’t your president.

    I’ll call him President Earbama…

  • 4. hermie  |  June 17th, 2008 at 8:04 am

The Obama poster is quite similar to the old Soviet Union posters of Lenin and Marx.

  • 5. Bruce  |  June 17th, 2008 at 8:09 am

Che was a brutal assassin who killed more captives than any other south american socialist ‘hero’. He is certainly some one who should giude us when we talk about killing prisoners. A quick bullet to the brain case, just like Che did hundreds if not thousands of times with prisoners.

    Mr Margolis,

In good conscience We could not begin our maternity leave without offering you this question.

Do you think those posters behind that Common Please judge in Ohio carries more weight in the minds of American undecided voters than this photograph of the presumptive GOP nominee?

No photoshopping needed there either. If you were to jump on the back of Carl Lewis in his prime you wouldn’t be able to run fast enouugh to get away from President George W Bush. We confess Reverend Jeremiah Wright said some things that strike fear in the hearts of white Americans and anger some black Americans. Barack Obama did sit in reverend Wrights church for two decades. And this is the only positive thing that YOU can say about YOUR own candidate that the opposition candidate went to a church where the preacher put on a side show that said hateful things about the white American establishment. Well We are sorry that the GOP couldn’t clone a candidate that would appeal to fiscal conservatives, the pro war set and the Moral Majority, which We might add is neither in 21st Century terms, but those are the breaks.

In the 80s American Liberals were strapped with Mondale and Dukakis and the party was literally saved from destruction by the two Clinton terms falling into a technological upturn that followed the Bush 41 recession. Now, it is your turn in the barrel. It will be worse than after Nixon you know because Nixon did the right thing after being caught, he resigned. Bush refuses and he will take the GOP with him to Crawford or Kennebunkport or Asuncion or wherever. The best we can estimate is that the pendulum should swing back after the Greentech bubble starts to collapse somehwere in the 2015 to 2018 period. That is the cusp of the zenith of Boomers beginning to collect Social Security. Expect a GOP win in 2020 as the Democrats will run weak candidates in that and the ‘24 election as the US economy weakens further under the strain of nearly 50 million people clamoring for their “entitlements.”

The Liberals will leave that to you geniuses to figure out and in 2040 when the New Renaissance begins in America, or what is left of America the progressives will step back in and build the nation back up as they did after the Great Depression of the 1920s and 30s.

And since you or one of many here that challenge Us are going to ask the solution to Social Security is Death. Make the retirement age a real retirement age– 82 years not 62 years and the system becomes self sustaining again in less than 7 years from right now with no increases in taxes. The formula that should be followed is that Retirement age = Life expectancy + 4 years, very simple very easy.

    Qu’ul cuda praedex nihil!

The part I find the most amuseing is that in a US
Judge’s Office, one of America’s most Liberal
Senators, is hung next to The Butcher of La
Cabaña, South America’s Socialist Butcher by a
man that thinks lethal injection is just too gosh
    darned mean and cruel…

  • 8. OpChaosUK  |  June 17th, 2008 at 10:37 am

The Obama poster is quite similar to the old Soviet Union posters of Lenin and Marx.

hermie, would that be John Lenin(sic) and Groucho Marx?

Pain–in the arse–you can’t equate a photo of Bush and McCain to Che and Earbama. Well, you can…in your little bedeviled world where Dianne fancies herself a journalist.

Remember, liberalism is a mental disorder, even here in the UK…

This takes me back to where I insist that the Right needs its talking points and opinion herders or it cannot think for itself. That story ran in USA Today how long ago and it was generally overlooked as a local issue about the death penalty until a Freeper sent an e-mail to a buddy who posted it at the Free Republic. Now this story is two things that wingnuts love it is about a judge and it is about socialism and Obama.

Now did matt margolis get this from tirelessly going through photos for interesting connxions like my Copy Editor does for out version of the “Early Bird” on June 10 or did he come across this at Free Republic or News Busters where the talking points wait for him every morning.

For a good laugh read that whole News Busters bit where Warner Tood Huston trips all over the truth, “Supposing this judge had a poster of a right-wing dictator — maybe even Hitler — displayed side-by-side with a John McCain for president poster or a George W. Bush poster. “ and cannot seem to get it off himself so he resorts to an uncanny bit of DoubleSpeak to appease his handlers, and I quote, ” want to clarify a point here. I have had someone question what I mean about Hitler being a “right-wing dictator.” My use of Hitler was in response to how the media would see an opposite of a Che Guevara type. I am not implying that Hitler was a conservative, or right-wing. Hitler’s ideology is clearly the perfect example of the ultimate destination of leftist thought. He was a socialist, and the quintessential left-winger, not a conservative.”

  • 10. Jonathan  |  June 17th, 2008 at 11:45 am

    Let’s see:
Che Guevara = murdered in the name of his political and ideological beliefs.
Barack Obama = Democratic candidate running for President of the United States.

Oh, yeah, the resemblance between the two is uncanny.

Matt, quit trying to spin straw into gold, you partisan hack.

  • 11. neocon  |  June 17th, 2008 at 12:03 pm

    Let’s see,

How many prisoners did Guevara offer Habeus Corpus too? As he oversaw the tribunals and executions. I keep forgetting that number.

I also loved his book about guerilla warfare. What a champion for peace the “butcher of La Cabana” was.

  • 12. Some Assembly Required  |  June 17th, 2008 at 12:27 pm

Neocon, and that has exactly what to do with Obama?

Since when does Obama have any control of what anyone hangs on their walls? Shoot, I’ve seen people kneel before poster cut outs of GWB.

This is becoming more absurd by the day, you try to force us to drive on a road you’ve already paved. Hilarious.

  • 13. neocon  |  June 17th, 2008 at 12:51 pm

    SAR,

Do you ever tire of posting baseless assertions? When did I ever say that Guevara is connected with Obama?

I have simply pointed out the egregious misconduct of Guevara and despite that, how he is worshipped by the left. The same left that worships Obama.

Read into that what you will. And you might want to see a doctor re: that persistent laughter.

    Have a nice day
    peace, neocon

Baseless assertions… “I have simply pointed out the egregious misconduct of Guevara and despite that, how he is worshipped by the left. The same left that worships Obama.”

Keep it coming, having a bit of a rough day, this laughter is well needed.

  • 15. neocon  |  June 17th, 2008 at 1:37 pm

    SAR,

Are you not familiar with Che’s totalitarian and murderous ways?

And have you not witnessed that the same, albeit small, group of people that worship Guevara are staunchly in Obamas corner.

Guess not. Just keep laughing. It’s what you do best anyway.

    have a nice day
    peace, neocon

More American voters are familiar with the “exploits” of Bush than those of Che. it is a more visceral reaction We are sure to the Bush McCain picture than to a revolutionary who has been dead to Terra for 40 years. One could make the connexion then that Reverend King [qcpn!] then is more important to Obama than reberend Wright but of course that ruins the Right Wing’s only talking point.

  • 17. neocon  |  June 17th, 2008 at 2:21 pm

What’s a connexion? Is that connection in Shi’ite?

    ONLY TALKING POINT???

I will cling to my gun and Bible as I ponder that absurdity.

    have a nice day
    peace, neocon

  • 18. keystonRepublican  |  June 17th, 2008 at 10:00 pm

These photos were taken from a campaign office run by Obama volunteers. You are the company you keep, no?

  • 19. Matt Margolis  |  June 17th, 2008 at 10:23 pm

“Matt, quit trying to spin straw into gold, you partisan hack.”

If I am a partisan hack, it seems ridiculous that you not only keep coming here, but continue to embarrass yourself here with poor arguments and childish attacks.

  • 20. What?  |  June 18th, 2008 at 12:15 am

    Matt,
It is because you and Mark are partisan hacks that I keep coming here. Please never change.

That goes for all you wingnut commenters, too. I’m lookin’ at you neocon, js, jeremiah. Your looney ideas, childish insults, and predictions of the Second Coming make my life just a little bit brighter.

  • 21. Mark Noonan  |  June 18th, 2008 at 1:32 am

    Pain,

You’re getting rather tiresome. If you’re trying to bore us to death, you’re on the right track…

  • 22. Mark Noonan  |  June 18th, 2008 at 1:34 am

    SAR,

This is the second time we’ve seen the murderous thug Guevara juxatoposed to Obama - and it is indicative of just where his most ardent supporters are…they are fanatic leftists who think that Che is a hero. Obama isn’t Che, but the fact that Che supporters swoon over Obama indicates just how extremist and out of the mainstream he is.

  • 23. Tractatus  |  June 18th, 2008 at 11:33 am

    No Photoshopping required

You are the company you keep, no?

(Cue wingnuts: “But liberals are the real racists!”)

  • 24. Some Assembly Required  |  June 18th, 2008 at 12:28 pm

Mark, do you honestly believe even half the stuff you say?

Lets connect the dots shall we… Che has supporters in america who love him. These supporters are fanatic leftists. These fanatic leftists are hardline Obama supporters. Obama must therefore be a che lover because he attracts che supporters and his poster is next to Che’s (on two peoples walls).

I’d say it’s a damn good thing you are not a judge.
