Leftists Demand Lieberman’s Removal

June 27th, 2008 at 12:47pm Mark Noonan

As I write this, Lieberman Must Go has 35,000+ signatures on this petition:

We CANNOT tolerate a leader of the Senate Democratic Caucus who supports George Bush and McCain’s War in Iraq. We CANNOT tolerate a Democratic chairman of the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee who endorses and stumps for McCain. We call on the Senate Democratic Steering Committee to strip Joe Lieberman of his chairmanship and his leadership role.

Which action, of course, would also probably strip the Democrats of their Senate majority, at least until January - either the petitioners don’t realise this, or they are supremely confident in picking up a net of at least one Senate seat in November. Still, it is a bit arrogant for them to make that presumption - the time to strip Lieberman, if that is to be done, would be in January, and then only if the Democrats have 51 seats without him. I’ll bet they get to 350,000 signatures in short order, so great is the leftwing hatred of President Bush and of anyone who doesn’t hate him as the left does.

Please note that they are calling it “George Bush and McCain’s War in Iraq” - it is, of course, America’s campaign in Iraq, part of America’s fight in the War on Terrorism, but so hatefilled is the left these days that they are not animated by a desire of what is best for America, but by a desire of what is most harmful to President Bush and his possible GOP successor, John McCain. There is also the rank moral cowardice of making such a statement - it is the left saying, “its not me!”; as if one can be a true and loyal American citizen and not be morally responsible for all of the acts of the United States of America. Only a traitor can really say of Iraq that it is not his campaign - but it remains America’s campaign, even if a traitor eschews it; a traitor, or someone so hate filled that they don’t understand what they are actually doing.

And before anyone out there says I’m exaggerating about the hate, herewith some samples from the signatures:

Awful person…He is among the biggest scumbags on the planet…He’s is worsre than a traitor…Lieberman has set the reality of self serving, despicable politicians at a new plateau…His country is Israel not the USA.
How many of our young men and women must die to defend Israel and the powerful AIPAC?…Are peoplle like him mindless idiots or hellbent on destroying America?…A totally classless jerk…Joe Liberman’s position is more in line with Israel’s than US’s…AIPAC is his allegiance. He takes his orders from them…He is a traiter, but more than that, he is such a non human…Not only must he go, strip him of his citizenship…This man is a menace to society…Joe belongs in the GOP-aipac section…Joe go live in Israel now. You are a war monger supreme…more loyal to Israel than to our country…

I think that pretty much says it all - fanatic hatred destroying the souls of those on the left to the point where they don’t even realise they’re slipping into anti-Semitism…

The MoveOn/CodePink?Cindy Sheehan crowd have ALWAYS been anti-Semites. It’s just that they were always protected by the MSM who will continue to support them until the Obamamessiah decides to throw THEM under the bus. (It’s getting more crowded under there every day. He’s going to need a fleet of CTA buses by the time the convention is finished.)

fortunately there’s a disconnect bet Sen Lieberman’s home state voters & the at-large, loony left.

and remember, the petition can ONLY address his chairmanship, not his Senate seat.

Wow, some pretty nasty words about Lieberman on that site. I wonder what that reminds me of? Hmmm…yes, the same nastiness is used against liberal politicians on this site everyday. If you truly do find the words used on that site vile and disgusting Mark, please realize that your website also engages in the exact same thing.

The democrats are obviously unhappy with Lieberman. The simple truth is that they won’t need him after the 08 elections. Big gains in the house and senate make him expendable in their eyes.

The darling Vice Presidential candidate loved by many liberals in 2000 has been thrown under the bus in Obama like fashion.

How dare Lieberman think for himself. How dare he vote for the war (like other democrats did for political expediancy). How dare he be for the war when the party has abandoned it, again out of political expediancy.

Liberals how easy they consume their own.

JAT, and the liberals who control Congress have proposed what?

Nothing with any value. Like the war on terror, they need the economy, the DJIA and other indicators to tank in order to obtain the White House.

Putting politics before the “good of the people” which they claim constantly. But then the desire to return to power is so great……….

It is of note, that on some republic party petition that hatred for the Jews and those of the Jewish faith is also present. You cannot control what someone says who signs your Petition.

I agree totally with removing Joe Lieberman from his seat. Lieberman is a demo-publican in name only. He is a republic. he serves the republic party only and not the will of the people of his state or the will of the nation. He ran as an independent because he was spoiled and angry that the citizens of his state voted for someone else. It is very true that the republic party supported him over their own candidate. And its true that a candidate was selected who would assure a loss for the republic’s against Lieberman.

By the way, it is NOT America’s campaign in Iraq. Poll after poll after poll shows that the citizens of this nation do not support george’s war in Iraq. yet the republic party thinks its ok to dis-obey the will of the citizen and continue fighting george’s war in Iraq. A vote for Team McBush is a vote for a third term for george and a continuation of the disastrous george war in Iraq, and a vote for Team McBush is a vote for further enslavement to big wig big greed big profit big business big oil.

How do you think it will go over if we say that Obama “Is not my President” as so many of the left say about Bush.

    MS,

The Democrats in his (Sen. Lieberman) home state choose an anti-war one plank canidate over him in the primary. He switched an ran as an Independent in the general. The entire state choose him over both the Democrat and Republican.

It’s about time we have a true third party but the existing two will not allow it.

I would respond to your acusations about Bush’s war but they are basically the meme you can not get over. Just like Pres. Bush is as dumb as a rock (when you give him credit) yet he has kicked the Democrats in both houses up and down the halls of the capital for 7+ years. Both when Republicans held power as well as since Democrats have held power.

Call him a fool but then again-who is the bigger fool~ the fool or the fool(s) who follow the fool. I don’t find him to be one.

Hermie, I think Sen. Obama is working out a deal with Ray Negin for some more buses to throw folks under. Heard he had a bunch that were never used. The wheels on the bus(es) go round and round…

Sure Joe Lieberman is Pro Israel? At one time the Democrats were too. Hell Truman helped them form a State!
Its a sad state of affairs when a Senator can’t practice Free Speech and an even sadder state when his own Party tries to pull his rights from him.
In the end Joe will be proved to be right even if he has some personal motivations for his stance.
Those who stand on the side of pacifism will be writ down in history with the Quislings and Chamberlains as well as the other short sighted thinkers in the world. They are not necessarily always wrong, just damned near all of the time.
Walk softly and carry a big stick Joe, its the best policy.

What is the big deal; he is an independent not a Democrat? Come January his sorry ass caucus butt can slide over with the Repugs. But he won’t, although he is a champion of Bush Jr’s war he is repulsed by much of the Republican platform. I would love to see Lieberman and Dobson sing a few songs together.

If it is a day ending in a “Y,” must be a day for a petition from the Port side of the Interwebz.

Hey, js, better idea: we should start a petition limiting the Left to no more then 1 petition per month. Then we can have the fun of watching them jones out like a crack addict w/out a fix for a week! ;)

It’s always heartwarming to see the compassion of liberals on display.

I don’t think there is any doubt that these are the people needed to unify this country.

    U.S. Must Embrace Muslim Faith
They own most of the worlds oil and they are the fastest growing religious segment. We need to appease this group through accommodation & understanding to ensure peace in our time. Surely they will eventually come around and take care of the radical elements within their own ranks.
    Vote Obama!

  • 19. Go Joe  |  June 28th, 2008 at 9:56 am

    If Obama Wins…

Things to count on if Obama Wins.
-A progressive tax system that soaks the rich and dries up investment
-A windfall profits tax on oil companies that further off shores production and increases our balance of trade deficit.
-A rougher time ahead for US auto stocks, given his past attacks on these companies and investor expectations.
-A preemptive strike on Iran by Israel prior to his inauguration.
-Higher food prices as he pushes for renewable energy
-Coalition of The Willing troops withdrawing rapidly from Iraq & Afghanistan ahead of his promised cut and run.
-Liberal judge appointments leading to higher tort costs, lower competitiveness and fewer US jobs.
    -Weakening of NAFTA
-An illegal alien influx into America given his stated policy to not send back the 12,000,000 illegal’s here.
-The signing of the Kyoto Accord and the loss of 5% GDP.
    -Restrictive gun legislation.
-An economy strangling universal health care program.
-Federal approval of Medical Marijuana, despite the tremendous abuse of that plan in California.
