Many people are opposed to abortion on general principles who would never consent to criminalizing an issue so personal and so fraught with complications and moral ambiguities. You can only justify calling abortion murder if you are also willing to call capital punishment and wars which kill the innocent murder. Capital punishment and wars take lives of fully-realized human beings who possess emotions, moral perceptions, aspirations, memories and have established social relationships with others. They haven't yet taken a place in society.
