Barack Obama’s Ministry of Truth

July 15th, 2008 at 07:15pm Matt Margolis

Looks like Barack Obama is taking some cues from Big Brother, by turning his website into his own Ministry of Truth:

Barack Obama’s campaign scrubbed his presidential Web site over the weekend to remove criticism of the U.S. troop “surge” in Iraq, the Daily News has learned.

The presumed Democratic nominee replaced his Iraq issue Web page, which had described the surge as a “problem” that had barely reduced violence.

“The surge is not working,” Obama’s old plan stated, citing a lack of Iraqi political cooperation but crediting Sunni sheiks - not U.S. military muscle - for quelling violence in Anbar Province.

The News reported Sunday that insurgent attacks have fallen to the fewest since March 2004.

Obama’s campaign posted a new Iraq plan Sunday night, which cites an “improved security situation” paid for with the blood of U.S. troops since the surge began in February 2007.

It praises G.I.s’ “hard work, improved counterinsurgency tactics and enormous sacrifice.”

Campaign aide Wendy Morigi said Obama is “not softening his criticism of the surge. We regularly update the Web site to reflect changes in current events.”

Or, more accurate to reflect his flip flops and false predictions.

The Democrats allegiances to MoveOn on Iraq, and the enviromentalists on domestic drilling, will prove to be their undoing in November. It’s hard to believe they have become so beholden to special interests, that the interests of Americans take a back seat.

If only Barak Hussein Obama could REFINE oil the way he does his campaign we would have very cheap gasoline!

I guess we have to settle for a cheap campaign instead.

I don’t go to the meetings. What is the Big Brother is Watching bit? Is this something to deflect McCains support of the FISA bill with its amnesty to corporations who eavesdrop on citizens?

In the history of the world? My grandson used that same phrase the other day while pretending to be Ironman. How old are you Mags?

And equating the Haiti and Somalia missions and deployments, to the mission in Iraq and Afghanistan is dangerously naive of threat levels and geo-politics. But that explains why you regurgitated it here.

There is no difference between Hati, Somalia and the disastrous george war in Iraq.

As for my age, I am old enough to remember seeing Richard Nixon resign on national television.

and yes, Neocon, concerning world history, george is the absolute worse president. No other president has been as bad as george on war, economy etc.

I’m wating for neocon or js or some other loyalist to the Boy King, no I didn’t say Troy King there, to do a search on the name of John Mccain’s chair of the Alabama Leadership Team. I think they’ll be a bit surprised what they find there. I know I was and have been for the five days I’ve been verifying the story.

This gotcha stuff is fun and dangerous which makes it that much more fun and dangerous.

I’m sure you’ll be able to hear the huge sigh and them whining, “not this crap again!”

  • 18. hermie  |  July 16th, 2008 at 8:18 am

Of course the trolls once again, can’t defend Obama’s trying to hide his previous public statements and policy ‘judgements’.

You got several topics to choose from.. how about staying on this one for a while?

  • 19. neocon  |  July 16th, 2008 at 8:35 am

Mags claims NO DIFFERENCE between the missions and deployments of Haiti and Somalia vs those of Afghanistan and Iraq cementing his stature as the most uninformed liberal partisan hack on this blog. Congrats!!!!!

Frederick is aghast that a politician would actually act like a politician in the case of Troy King and aside from that, offers absolutely nothing of substance.

What is blatantly obvious is their inability to tout the virtues of their messiah. I have yet to hear from any of them on how Obama will:

    - lessen our dependence on foreign oil
    - address the slumping economy and create jobs
    - win the war against terrorism
    - secure social security

I guess engaging in fear based politics and fighting perceived injustices is all they’re capable of.

I know you looney Leftists love the politics of personal destruction, Fredrick; just remember — it cuts both ways. And I’m guessing that Obama has a lot more undiscovered skeletons in his closet than McCain does in his.

Unfortunately, neocon, that is exactly their intent.

I find it hard to stop my convulsions of laughter after reading this. Unbelievable. What hole has your head been stuck in the last eight years, or do you simply choose to believe Bush is acting in the interest of ‘Americans’ i.e., Bush supporters. I have a hard time believing youre really that blind.

this must be another trinity/wright move that “erases” obama’s characture of long standing and rebirths him as a perfect and new being…

linking the two issue together…king really is the AG for AL….so if he was elected by the people…and if he actually is a radical anti homosexual like I am…i like the guy…but the truth is…do i know for sure thats what he is like?

no. i have no clue…and im sure the people in Alabama do either….

but reality and on topic…obama going to iraq? he had to go…the MSM was pointing at it as a shortfalling in his behavior pattern….and the issue, not the name of a person in controversy…is “scrubbed” from his web site…

why would it embarrass him…if it was not an indicator of moral aptitude and an honorable thing…what purpose would be served to hide this from the visitors to his web site? the fact that he has never been on the ground in iraq like mccain? until now that is…

its pretty simple…obama is a talking shirt…they can slip and slice the shirt daily and they dye it so that if you like blue instead of beige…you should like obama…and if you are a big bulgy in the center…they can tweek the candidate for that too…

but the one thing they cant snip and slice is the truth..they can only try to hide it in the armpit…because he cant change the truth…and the truth is…the DNC really screwed up selecting this orator as thier talking shirt…because behind that shirt the man will always be a black supremacist…the man will always be tainted with rezko’s and mansions that dont just add up under logical analysis….and mind you…its not just any old outfit that has the courage to field a member of a black supremacist for POTUS….just like the klan had david duke….

The price of oil is dropping drastically today, yet no new oil wells have been drilled.

    how could that be ?

  • 27. Retired Spook  |  July 16th, 2008 at 1:19 pm

    how could that be?

Certainly one of the reasons is that demand is dropping like a rock, but I wouldn’t get too excited, ‘08ama. A week or so ago the price dropped $10 in 2 days, and 2 or 3 days later it hit another new high. I’ll get excited when it drops back below $100/barrel.

None of these countries are in the Middle East.
