Threats of war in the Caucusus, prospects of large US withdrawals from Iraq with victory secured, probably a necessity of sending 15,000 or so additional troops to Afghanistan, oil bubble might have burst, Democratic jitters over Obama’s clear weaknesses…
Yeah, not much to talk aobut…

That big sucking sound you hear is Nuri al-Maliki, the prime minister of Iraq, Ali al-Dabbagh, the spokesperson for the Iraqi government, and Hoshiyar Zebari, the Iraqi foreign minister, all publicly endorsing Obama’s Iraq timeline policy, and therefore taking McCain’s only foreign policy initiative away. The Iraqis are even pushing the Obama envelope by demanding a date certain; without conditions. If the date is set for October 210 how will Karl Rove and McCaoin spin this?
Would seem the Iraqis have socked a little “oil” coin away and no longer need the Bush/Cheney handouts.

Upstart, 43, USA, or whatever interchangeable mindless liberal you are today,
Karl Rove is now a Fox news analyst, you know the station that Obama is afraid to go on. And I didn’t realize that Maliki endorsed Obamas plan to withdraw all troops by March 2008. That really is a surprise.
What are you going to do when McCain is sworn in as President?
1/20/09, the day Obama fades into obscurity and the trash heap of other failed liberal candidates.

if thats would be the case Neo, I would sell all my American solar stocks before they become worthless. After that I would get my doctor to prescribe me some Prozac.

The Americans seem to be winning alot at the Olympic games. I think our country will win more Gold medals than any other countries.
Democratic jitters over Obama’s clear weaknesses…
I think if Obama goes real far to left, and picks Hillary for VP. He will lose, he goes to the center or right, I think he might have a chance.

Hillary’s handlers are now claiming that if Edwards had come clean earlier, Hillary would be the nominee. The Edwards affair is only going to further enrage the over 50 female backers of Hillary. Look for more fireworks at the convention.
BTW: Does anyone believe that Edwards is now telling the truth? I feel sorry for all of the people who bought into his BS and supported him by working hard for his election. Talk about disalusioned.

7 worrisome signs for Obama

In a year where the fundamentals strongly favor a Democrat, their candidate has yet to pull away. Here are seven reasons for Obama to worry. ‘
“Clinton’s pollster Mark Penn recently unveiled a PowerPoint presentation red-flagging Obama’s lukewarm leads among white female voters and Hispanics – while predicting a five-point swing could turn a presumed Obama win into a McCain landslide”

Explain to me again Mark were so behind the motivation for the war for Iraq while you are so outraged by the Russian aggression in George. Both have exactly the same type of motivation - they are claiming ‘preventive’ measures to provide security for the region. It is amazing to me that you can honestly think the two are that different.

SEW, I love this pdf from one of your favorite organizations, the NLRC:
http://www.nrlc.org/Election2008/Comparison071408.pdf
Who knew McCain was a Supreme Court judge in 1973?
Too bad it doesn’t mention McCain’s REAL abortion stance:
“MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (CNN) — Republican presidential candidate John McCain, when asked Wednesday what he would do if his 15-year-old daughter Meghan became pregnant and wanted an abortion, said it would be a “family decision.”
“The final decision would be made by Meghan with our advice and counsel,” McCain said, speaking of himself and his wife Cindy.
“I would discuss this issue with Cindy and Meghan, and this would be a private decision that we would share within our family and not with anyone else,” McCain told reporters in New Hampshire on board his campaign bus nicknamed “The Straight Talk Express. “Obviously I would encourage her to bring, to know that baby would be brought up in a warm and loving family, but the final decision would be made by Meghan with our advice and counsel.”
HE THINKS ABORTION IS A “DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL” thing, and would allow a 15-year old to shoulder the total responsibility for such a HUGE descision.
What a guy!!!
A) If he won’t make such a huge decision for his daughter, how can he decide for a whole nation?
B) How do you keep your head from exploding?
12. js | August 11th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
there isnt anything there about dont ask dont tell congressive…he said he would encourage a life choice….evidently he gives his childred the credit to be smart enough to make the right decision…unlike you…and obama…

“Karl Rove is now a Fox news analyst, you know the station that Obama is afraid to go on. ” neocon
I seriously doubt that Obama is afraid to go on Fox. Since when should Fox or any other news media outlet be allowed to dictate what the candidates must do? I believe that Obama is his own man in making decisions as to who he will speak to and under what circumstances he will speak. I know Senator McCain is quite unhappy that Obama would not do the townhall meetings with him, but Obama is not going to be bullied by McCain or Fox.
As to Mark’s remark about the Democratic Party having “jitters over Obama’s clear weaknesses” - I missed that story. Why don’t we just wait until the debates before slinging mud at who is and who isn’t weak in their positions? Oh wait - this is the GOP standard.
14. congressive | August 11th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
“I would discuss this issue with Cindy and Meghan, and this would be a private decision that we would share within our family and not with anyone else,” McCain told reporters
DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL! Shall I draw you a diagram?
Oh, sure. He wants to tell YOU what you can and can’t do, but when it’s his own family… BUTT OUT! IT’S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! BTW, this is the exact legal reasoning behind Roe v Wade, i.e. it’s a PRIVACY ruling. McCain is against it, unless it applies to him, then he’s for it.
I hear the sounds of heads exploding like watermelons at a Gallagher show.

“I would discuss this issue with Cindy and Meghan, and this would be a private decision that we would share within our family and not with anyone else,”
What is your problem, Con, what McCain states is perfectly reasonable, civilized and supporting of his daughter.
Man, get a heart.
16. congressive | August 11th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
Oh, and for those who still believe the housing collapse is really cool because first-time buyers can now afford to buy:
“The housing sector got no relief in the past three months, as lenders further tightened standards all mortgage categories. The Fed said about 75 percent of U.S. banks tightened lending standards on prime mortgages — those given to customers with better credit histories — versus about 60 percent who said they tightened in the April.”
So look who’s buying all those cheap properties… that’s right - FUREIGNERS SWIMMING IN OIL CO PROFITS! It’s sooooo ironic how the high oil prices that are causing some people to lose their homes are being used to buy those houses for pennies on the dollar.
The Bush gang has already bailed out the billionaires. The rest of us…stuck with the bill, as usual.
17. congressive | August 11th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
What is your problem, Con, what McCain states is perfectly reasonable, civilized and supporting of his daughter.
You’ve missed the meaning of it all. The whole point was a SEW post demonizing Obama’s abortion stance, while pretending McCain is a pro-life saint.
McSame is just a hypocrite on this issue, claiming some kind of faux-moral high ground as long as it doesn’t apply to him personally. And his boosters like the NRLC are just liars.
18. js | August 11th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
actually you seem to have your head inserted in your rectum on this issue…certainly he is encouraging legislation that gives parental responsibility its rightful place, unlike obama, who doesnt think its a parents right to know….
funny how you twist simple stuff about to confuse yourself, isnt it!!
19. navydad | August 11th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
Ah…what high standards the Dems exude….LMAO!!
Obigears flip-flopping, Edwards getting his just rewards, the Chicago mayor (a democrat ya know) and his ear rings, crack whores and limos, Big Al perpetuating the Global Warming myth, Pelosi calling Iraq a failure and blocking and up or down vote to drill offshore, Dirty Harry’s inability to stop the war…and on and on.
You libs can dredge up anything you want, but you’ll never live down these grade “A” a-holes.
The problem with the left is their unwillingness to admit fault…even at the expense of the overall good for America.

“I would discuss this issue with Cindy and Meghan, and this would be a private decision that we would share within our family and not with anyone else,”
Since Noonan speaks for the anti-choice crowd we should get his thoughts. Is McCain’s statement to make the abortion decision a private one ok with you? I would think McCain should have stated there is no reason to have a family meeting, the decision was made when Meghan got pregnant. The circumstances of the pregnancy are irrelevant.
23. Rasmus | August 11th, 2008 at 6:18 pm
Navy,
I don’t hear a lot of objecting going on but I believe you. Thats why Obama will win. His supporters really believe in him, and they believe voting for him is whats best for your country. How you guys ended up with McCain as your candidate is beyond my understanding. Hes a war hero but he is also statistically pretty likely to die of old age before the end of his first term.

I think congressive and his mindless liberal cohorts posts are evidence enough of why we don’t want juvenile, braindead, propagandists like them ever running this country.
And the second amendment will ensure that we don’t.
On the other hand, it does demonstrate how maleable and impressionable their minds are. If we get to them first, they could be conservative propagandists. They wouldn’t even know the difference.

Earlier today, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) delivered a speech on the war in Georgia. A Wikipedia editor notes that the speech is strikingly similar to the Wikipedia entry on the country Georgia. “[M]ost people would consider parts of McCain’s speech to be derived directly from Wikipedia,” Taegan Goddard writes:
After the Russian Revolution of 1917, Georgia had a brief period of independence as a Democratic Republic (1918-1921), which was terminated by the Red Army invasion of Georgia. Georgia became part of the Soviet Union in 1922 and regained its independence in 1991. Early post-Soviet years was marked by a civil unrest and economic crisis. (Wikipedia)
VERSUS
After a brief period of independence following the Russian revolution, the Red Army forced Georgia to join the Soviet Union in 1922. As the Soviet Union crumbled at the end of the Cold War, Georgia regained its independence in 1991, but its early years were marked by instability, corruption, and economic crises. (McCain)
His speech writers are getting lazy…

This one happened over the weekend and the issue was Putin’s aggression against Georgia. At first Obama just issued a neutral statement calling for an end to the violence from both sides. Then Obama must have read something, or listened to an advisor, because he issued a subsequent statement condemning Russia.
This editorial perfectly describes Obama and his flip-flops and a willing media to look the other way: http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2008/08/reuters-fabricates-obamas-response-to.html
