Biden just left fot the airport. 10 SUVs, leaving on private jet. No Prius or Civic. No wind farms in view of his property. Change, just like Gore, Kerry, Kennedy. Joe, does your will allow for your estate to go to the government?

So McCain has 7 houses. Hey Joe,….
” He is not known for his concision or care with the facts. He added that he ”went to law school on a full academic scholarship — the only one in my class to have a full academic scholarship.” He also said that he ”ended up in the top half” of his class and won a prize in an international moot court competition. Biden still wasn’t done. In college, Biden said, he was ”the outstanding student in the political science department” and ”graduated with three degrees from college.”

Reed then turns to Biden’s subsequent statement on this exchange. At Syracuse College of Law, Biden graduated 76th in a class of 85. He acknowledged: ”I did not graduate in the top half of my class at law school and my recollection of this was inacurate.” Just a slip of memory.

As for receiving three degrees, Biden conceded: ”I graduated from the University of Delaware with a double major in history and political science. My reference to degrees at the Claremont event was intended to refer to these majors — I said ‘three’ and should have said ‘two.”’ His arithmetic was off.

As for his undergraduate preeminence in the political science department — well, that was somebody else. But one of his professors thought he fit the bill. ”With regard to my being the outstanding student in the political science department,” the statement went on. ”My name was put up for that award by David Ingersoll, who is still at the University of Delaware.” Professor Ingersoll had it right!” San Diego Union Tribune blog

As for his claim that he went to school on full academic scholarship: ”My recollection is — and I’d have to confirm this — but I don’t recall paying any money to go to law school.” Reed cites a Newsweek report that Biden had gone to Syracuse ”on half scholarship based on financial need.” About that moot court competition, however, Biden may have nailed it. Biden said he had won such a competition, with a partner, in Kingston, Ontario, on Dec. 12, 1967. So there!

The 1988 campaign also gave us Biden’s infamous appropriation of Neil Kinnock’s life — and his speech reflecting on it — as Biden’s own. An article by Walter Shapiro on the subject provided this helpful background:

During his first months at Syracuse University Law School, in 1965, Biden failed a course because he wrote a paper that used five pages from a published law-review article without quotation marks or a proper footnote. Since Biden was allowed to make up the course, the revelation was front-page news only because it kept the copycat contretemps alive.
Shapiro also speculated why Biden’s confession to plagiarizing Kinnock’s speech might not put the affair behind him. “With a rambling and disjointed opening statement,” Shapiro observed regarding Biden’s press confernece, “Biden failed to reap the benefits of public confession, even though he called himself ’stupid’ and his actions ‘a mistake.’ Part of the problem is that he contradicted himself by also insisting that it was ‘ludicrous’ to attribute every political idea.”

From the negative comments posted so far on this thread by the resident neocons, it seems as if the Democratic party has offered the American voter nothing but two losers. With the Republican party, no doubt, offering the same, pity the U.S.A. come November.

From an international perspective, however, the Democratic choice is by far the more sane, regardless of McCain’s VP pick.

  • 6. Mark Noonan  |  August 23rd, 2008 at 2:14 pm

    CO,

We’ll see…but the perfect pick for McCain, now, is Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska…female, smart, pretty, governor, conservative, pro-life….McCain picks her, and he can start measuring for drapes in the White House…

  • 7. SEW  |  August 23rd, 2008 at 2:16 pm

“From an international perspective, however, the Democratic choice is by far the more sane, regardless of McCain’s VP pick.”

What an intelligent international statement. Precisely why we shouldn’y give an ounce of consideration to what an international moonbat has to say.

Soooooo predictable…the first thing you come out with is the plagiarism card.

Hey Margolis, didn’t you read the memo…don’t mention plagiarism unless you want a flood John and Cindy McCain’s stolen ideas to blanket the airwaves…

Please, please push the plagiarism issue, it’s the only way Wikipedia and the Food Network could actually be brought into a Pres. election

Sarah Palin? Noonan, how is she to stay silent and pregnant if she’s VP? The Pope would just plotz!

  • 9. Mark Noonan  |  August 23rd, 2008 at 3:04 pm

    42,

That would be something - if we Catholics tried to keep women down. Like we did with these women:

    St. Catherine of Siena

    Mother Angelica

    Bl. Mother Theresa

    St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

    St. Clare

Yep, no place for strong women in the Catholic Church…

Biden voted to expose the lawful firearm industry to crippling lawsuits; to extend and expand the Clinton gun bans; to allow a ban on most hunting-rifle ammunition; and to deny the free-speech rights of groups like the NRA during elections.

What if Obama isn’t nominated? I know it’s a long shot, but…. With his poll number falling like a stone and all the amateurish mistakes he’s been making, Hillary might just convince enough SD’s to jump ship and vote for her. After all, their job, their whole reason for existence, is to make sure the electorate doesn’t get it wrong.

Am I the only one who thinks, that maybe, the electorate did get it wrong? Hillary’s loss in the primary was, due to over confidence, which in turn, lead to a lack of organization in competing for, what we all know now, were those all important caucus delegates. Surely, the SD’s are aware of this. So, if the SD’s do their job….

Perhaps, we should be asking if Hillary likes Joe.

  • 39. Mark Noonan  |  August 24th, 2008 at 2:23 am

    mmoser,

There is a small chance of that but, in the end, I expect Obama to be the nominee for the simple reason of the Democratic powers-that-be being deathly afraid of not nominating him. I’m sure there is a lot of buyer’s remorse in the Democratic ranks these days, but failure to nominate Obama would be viewed as a betrayal by black voters, and if they stay home on November 4th, it doesn’t just mean loss of the White House, but potential loss of 30 House seats.

Obama out-worked Hillary and even though the primary race ended in pretty much a tie, the perception is, has been and will be that Obama won it fair and square…

  • 40. Mark Noonan  |  August 24th, 2008 at 2:28 am

    42,

    Are that gullible?

    Let’s see:
    1) women screaming and fainting
    2) decisions based on popularity, not conscience regardless of what was said the day before
    3) the media slobbering all over ever word uttered
    4) the camp-outs on doorsteps for a glimpse of the candidate which rivals the paparazzi
    5) glitz and glamour hype
    6) the crowd that swoons over ever gaffe and guffaw as actual fact

I feel like I watching E! or some Hollywood Gossip “news” show and not a Presidential campaign.

Uh, IQ42 there is no phone in votes for your Idol pick, you only get one vote in November, unless you live in Chicago where people vote multiple times along with the dead.

Why do major corporations, medical companies, insurance companies and mortgage companies, etc. etc. incorporate themselves in Delaware???

    Just asking.

How is Biden going to justify his attacks on insurance and health as policy, if elected? Or, is his special interests going to win out?

Why did Obama pick a typical politician when his image campaign is/was running as a “new kind of politician” with “Change we can believe in” marketing slogan?

  • 42. WhatChange  |  August 24th, 2008 at 8:32 am

Biden received 2300 votes in the Iowa Democratic primary, 1% of the Dem votes cast. HRC 29%. The obnoxious motormouth received 3% of total Dem votes in his home state of Delaware.

One son is an evil lobbyist. Joe is a documeted serial liar. He lied about his law school class rank. He lied about what he called the only full academic scholarship in his law school class. He lied about being designated “the outstanding student in the political science department” in college. He dropped out of the 1988 Presidential race after plagarizing a speech.

His brother and son are facing fraud lawsuits filed against them.

    Change you can believe in.
