McCain LEADS Obama in Gallup Daily Poll What Hillary Did

Hillary Speech Watch

August 26th, 2008 at 09:32pm Matt Margolis

I’m watching the DNC Train Wreck now… pretty pathetic. not an original thought in the house. If you ask the Democrats at the convention you’d think we’ve been in the middle of another Great Depression for eight years. They ignore the fact that the economy was going strong until they took over Congress in 2007… but hey, since when to Democrats care about facts?

Anyway, if you’re planning on watching the long-awaited speech by Hillary, feel free to share your thoughts here.

UPDATE: Because you have to be mentally unbalanced to believe the crap they’re saying:

UPDATE: Hillary supporters toast McCain

UPDATE: Obvious hidden (or not so hidden) message in Hillary’s speech: Barack and I believe in the same things, but I have experience … he doesn’t. When he loses, you’ll wish you nominated me.

    Okay Matt,

As I watch and listen to the same train wreck, I recognize there’s a serious question looming about the convention…a lack of unity caused by the selfishness of the Clinton’s, yet the media is trying their best to gloss it over, but it’s there, front and center, and if they truly believe they can ignore “it”, they’re smoking some potent sh*t, cause it ain’t going away.

Now the one thing I have noticed that’s odd, is their mantra of a poor economy, but where is the Iraq war? Is it no longer important since WE’VE WON? Or has it become a back-burner issue that should only be resurrected when necessary? Either way, they haven’t fooled anyone except themselves…thus far.

“They ignore the fact that the economy was going strong until they took over Congress in 2007″

what did the congress do in a year that tanked the economy?

  • 3. navydad  |  August 26th, 2008 at 10:32 pm

    Nate

#1, passing the minimum wage bill. There are others, but this was one of the most significant failures…by both parties. The economy wasn’t doing all that bad prior, in fact it was doing pretty good considering we were at war, suffered and almost debilitating blow on 911, and found ourselves faced with a larger war on terror than anyone had thought.
So Nate, isn’t it amazing how one little bill can become such an insurmountable problem with the strongest, largest economy on the planet?

  • 4. Magnum Serpentine  |  August 26th, 2008 at 10:35 pm

Just a side note. I find that CSPAN does a better job of airing the convention than the networks. No commentary

  • 5. Canuckguy  |  August 26th, 2008 at 10:48 pm

“They ignore the fact that the economy was going strong until they took over Congress in 2007″

Get real. The economy was a train wreck waiting to happen for several years, the implosion of the mortgage mess. Don’t blame the Democrats for that policy of lending money to any Tom, Dick and Harry who had no real means to support such mortgages. What party controlled the White House for nearly 8 years. Look at the totally incompetent Republican administration. Oh, wait, you blockheads think the Bush administration are a true success.

There is no hope for you when such delusions are held dearly to your hearts. Discussion is pointless. So that leaves ranting.

  • 6. PHW  |  August 26th, 2008 at 10:49 pm

I love how Hillary keeps mentioning failed leadership….does that mean the leadership of Congress the last several years? With a lower approval rating of the President??

  • 7. Kahn  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:00 pm

Nate - what did the President do that tanked the economy?

  • 8. Kahn  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:02 pm

Canuckguy - who controls the Federal Reserve? IS ir part of the administration? Does the Board of Governors report to the Secretary of the Treasury?

    Ignorant Canuck

  • 9. WhatChange  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:02 pm

“Don?t blame the Democrats for that policy of lending money to any Tom, Dick and Harry who had no real means to support such mortgages.”
    Canuckguy

    You’re kidding, right?

  • 10. Kahn  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:07 pm

If the economy is doing bad….is THIS the time to change to socialism? Democrats think so.

If oil is in short supply, wouldn’t you think that drilling for more would be a good idea? Democrats DON’T think so.

If the atmosphere is in trouble, wouldn’t nuclear energy, wind power, and solar be a good idea? So why did Obama vote against nuclear power? Why did Kennedy severely restrict wind? And why are the enviro-nutjobs down on the desert solar farms?

Keep talking stupid Democrats. Sing your idiocy from every hillside.

  • 11. Matt Margolis  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:08 pm

Does anyone really believe a word Hillary is saying?

  • 12. Nate  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:08 pm

“what did the President do that tanked the economy?”

started an unjust war — just an example of one of the many immoral things that this president has done

  • 13. Matt Margolis  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:10 pm

    “public good, not private squander?”

    in other words:

    socialize.
    nationalize.
    communize.

  • 14. Magnum Serpentine  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:11 pm

Utoh CSPAN was showing protest on the floor and a man came running to the camera and then the camera spun around to a wall.

What ever happened to the bill of rights?

  • 15. Nate  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:11 pm

what do you all not believe about what hillary is saying?

  • 16. Kahn  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:15 pm

Nate, how did Iraq tank the economy? Tiny part of our GDP. That’s it? The war? Please, explain yourself.

What are the other things you allude to?

Oh, and what don’t I believe about what Clinton is saying? I don’t believe that socialism is the answer.

  • 17. js  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:15 pm

the poison tree….its a rotten tree for sure…the likes of hillary and bill…from the same roots as…obama and kennedy…

nothing good comes from that tree…abraham knew that when he freed the slaves….

  • 18. js  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:17 pm

these folks dont deal logically Kahn…there is no use throwing pearls before the swine….they only get trampled…asking them for logic is a lost leader…so they can spit lies and slander….it comes from thier father….the master of all lies….

  • 19. Magnum Serpentine  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:17 pm

Thank God the citizens still are able to vote in this nation. Polls have shown that the Average Super Cool citizen pays little attention to Conventions and instead judges candidates on the merrits and substance not on what the big wigs want them to judge the candidates on.

  • 20. Rasmus  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:31 pm

    Navydad,

Your minimum wage was ridiculously low. It hadn’t been raised for a very long time. don’t you think that someone working hard should be able to live a decent life without having to worry about getting sick because they cant afford health care?
be a lover navy, not a hater.

so you actually allow yourself to hold one hand over bush whilst pointing at the democrats with the other hand. they did it! are you that afraid of being wrong?

Raising the minimum wage to little over 7 dollars an hour didn’t ruin your economy. Bush did, and he did it predominantly with the Iraq war.

Sad thing is that for someone making minimum wage, joining the military is very tempting. the promise of free health care and maybe an education is an easy bate, but of cause promises are there to be broken.

These young men and women go where they are being told, and all they are asking for in return is not to be sent into harms way unless it is absolutely necessary. was it necessary back then? did it make the world a safer place? was it true?

Like her or not (and I don’t), Hillary gave a great speech tonight. A lot of people on this blog have been hoping that she would pull something that would completely divide the party. It didn’t happen.

  • 22. James  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:47 pm

i dont’ think anyone thought sh’ed pull a divisive speech out of the rear of her pantsuit… but it seem to me she talked about herself a lot more than about Obama. I think it was presented good but quite disingenuous.

  • 23. gotbrains?  |  August 26th, 2008 at 11:50 pm

    13 Matt

No Matt, she said “private plunder“. Though “squander” would work almost as well.

As in KBR, Halliburton, Blackwater, and all the other Cheney-linked war profiteering operations that have received a lion’s share of the $10-$12 billion of our tax dollars that are flushed down the Iraq sink hole each month, month after month, for going on 6 years.

And what do these crony leeches return to the public treasury? Nothing - they’ve all incorporated offshore so as not to pay their taxes. You know - those taxes that you and I have to pay to take up the slack. While these private off-shore corporations subsist on corporate welfare doled out by this administration, they pay nothing back to US in return. That’s called plunder. Hillary nailed it on the head.

Oh, and I’m oh so sorry Hillary has dashed your pathetic dreams of discord among democrats. We’re united, and ready to kick your arse.

  • 24. Mark Noonan  |  August 27th, 2008 at 1:08 am

Anyone remember her every putting “gay rights” so prominently in a speech before? It was almost as if she wanted to throw as much leftist rhetoric as she can out there…with a mind towards having it stick to Obama.

  • 25. BU3 Durf  |  August 27th, 2008 at 1:24 am

    Kahn,

Oil is a globally traded product. Speculators will continue to manipulate the price of oil regardless of where it comes from. Alternative Energy is the key. I guess simple economics left with the rest of your brain. For all of the conservatives on this sight, especially you, js, why don’t you start giving facts rather than your stupid, baseless, anecdotes? Oh wait; there are no facts on this site, just blind ideology.

  • 26. Alphonce  |  August 27th, 2008 at 1:50 am

What a shallow little thread from a shallow little mind.

    Infantile.

    Honestly, grow up Margolis.

  • 27. LiberalMind  |  August 27th, 2008 at 1:55 am

    Hillary hit a home run….

She makes me proud to be a Democrat.

(Ed. Note: Off topic part of comment deleted)

  • 28. Danish Artist  |  August 27th, 2008 at 6:18 am

Nate…….all you can do is point to the Iraq war? Pathetic.

    LiberalNoMind?……….. whatever.

Magnum Stupidity…you still think your vote counts in November? Have you ever heard of the electoral college? Oh, that’s right, you still believe that Bush was appointed President. More pathetic.

Canuckguy….. Uh, yeah! The mortgage and credit debacle can be placed squarely in the laps of Democrats who are interested more in fairness than good common sense. The same thing that Barak Hussein Obama is promising….can you say windfall proftits tax?

Assmus….. Another idiot who believes that you should be able to raise a family on minimum wage. Need I say more? That dumbass comment explains Assmus’ twisted views of his governments’ policies. But hey, if you want the government to confiscate most of your pay, well that alone shows your lack of intelligence.

Wishedhehadbrains….. most government programs are sinkholes, their recipients do not contribute to society. They are the true “leeches” of this country. Most liberal politicians protect their money in foreign accounts. Why is that?

Our resident lemming Obamatons do not have anything but leftist talking points that have been debunked time and again. What a mindless bunch, but then again, their votes are bought and paid for by productive tax payers.

  • 29. Kahn  |  August 27th, 2008 at 9:48 am

BU3 Durf, only the oil offered for trade is sold on the market. (think about it).

Oil has fallen every day since Bush removed the executive order banning drilling. It would fall further if Congress did the same thing.

But why restrict wind? Kennedy did and no one seems the least bit angry? Why restrict solar? The environmental whackos have gotten the Energy department to require extensive studies before solar farms can be started? Why restrict nuclear? Obamas ONLY nuclear vote was to stop the Yucca Mountain waste facility. Meanwhile, the waste sits around in rusting barrels.

Oh, and better check on your boy George Soros… speculator is his middle name. In fact, as far as that goes, he’s a convicted felon overseas for his speculation habits.

Note that she was proud to be a mom, woman, democrat but SHE NEVER SAID SHE WAS PROUD TO BE A WIFE. Are she and Bill still married (secret divorce?) or has she lied to the populace and she really hasn’t forgiven Bill.

  • 31. Canuckguy  |  August 27th, 2008 at 10:14 pm

Ok, Kahn/WC, my mistake in blaming the Republicans entirely for the sub-prime mess, they can share the blame with the Demos. However I recall Bush as 100% in support to continue the wrong headed push to lend money recklessly to spur home ownership especially amongst poor minorities. Government administrations are suppose to have policies in place to intelligently handle fiscal affairs and it’s silly to blame arm’s length institutions for the mess.

Just try and remember who has been running the country for the last 8 years. Who are you gonna blame? Blame Bush!
