Newt Just Gave the Smackdown to Ron Allen at MSNBC
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:10pm Kevin Patrick
I’ll add the video clip as soon as I can, but Newt Gingrich just demolished Ron Allen of MSNBC regarding the allegation that Sarah Palin lacks experience.
Here’s my quick transcript:
Allen: Her resume is not something we are familiar seeing with Vice Presidential candidates.
Newt (getting really animated): Well, it’s stronger than Barack Obama’s. I don’t know why you guys walk around saying this baloney. She has a stronger resume than Obama. She’s been a real Mayor. He hasn’t. She has been a real Governor. He hasn’t. She’s been in charge of the Alaska National Guard. He hasn’t. She was a whistle-blower who defeated an incumbent Mayor. He has never once shown that kind of courage. She’s a whistle-blower who turned in the chairman of her own party and got him fined $12,000. I’ve never seen Obama do one thing like that. She took on the incumbent Governor of her own party and beat him. And then she beat a former Democratic Governor in the general election. I don’t know of a single thing Obama has done except talk and write. And I’d like you to tell me one thing you think Senator Obama has done.
Allen: Thanks very much Mr. Speaker. I’m gonna leave it right there. I’m not going to argue the case.
Newt: Thank you.
OUCH!
Here is the MSNBC video. The key exchange begins at the 2:33 mark:

Then again, he could have also said this and been just as truthful
Newt (getting really animated): Well, it’s stronger than John McCain’s. I don’t know why you guys walk around saying this baloney. She has a stronger resume than McCain. She’s been a real Mayor. He hasn’t. She has been a real Governor. He hasn’t. She’s been in charge of the National Guard. He hasn’t. She was a whistle-blower who defeated an incumbent Mayor. bags,
Where did Mark ever assert that Newt was his beacon of light and wholesomeness? Don’t ya think that’s a bit presumptive?
And since when has personal moral failures minimized the import of a politcos comments? Bill Clinton was elected President, and he did nearly every skirt in AR.
7. Magnum Serpentine | September 3rd, 2008 at 12:00 am
Of course all of this is just Newts opinion.
8. bagni | September 3rd, 2008 at 12:17 am
neolicious
the green goofballs suspect
celebrating his “smackdown” of an opponent
would interstellarly imply that the author likes him
you believe in his orbital opinion
astral approval of his behavior
or at least can overlook it for gain, etc.
and your comment?
“And since when has personal moral failures minimized the import of a politcos comments? ”
and then taking a shot at the deep space dirtbag clinton
makes it all ok?
you so funny

Ah Casper. You’re back? You were not here to denounce those people attacking Palin’s family? How convenient.
McCain has a different resume. Annapolis, war hero, terribly tortured, works with the other side to get things done, you know?
But hey. You’re a teacher? Man - what an example of liberal bias in the education system. Grade your own post for completeness and accuracy.

Newt is short on truth and long on bluster and that video just confirms it.
Nothing there worth watching. If you want to see a real interview watch CNN’s Campbell Brown interviewing John McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds about Palins “qualifications” to be the VP. That guy folded like a lawn chair in the face of tough questions.

Magnum - all of this is just Newts opinion? Being mayor, being governor, the fighting corruption stuff - opinion? Not facts?
Better buy a dictionary.

Disturbing really.
Oh and NIP - just exactly which items are false? Please, for once - a straight to the point answer?

P:Mayor of a small town. Supporter–maybe even member of a SECCESSIONIST GROUP!!!!!!! –Why isnt anyone talking about this? Shes an energy reformer? Well, it is certainly reform to take such an important energy provider out of the union, so thats true……
O:State senator in a populous state
P:Governor of a small state who SUPPORTED the bridge to nowhere until the govt cut funding, though she didnt return that which she had already recieved
O:Senator of that same important state in this important nation, who, also supported the bridge.
P:Abstinence Only. no healthcare to take care of babies if mother chooses life (good decision, btw)
O:Reasonable sex education to prevent teen pregnancy and thus abortion, as well as healthcare for all so that women can have the option to have and support the child. Yes, you read that right…….
P:Doesnt have any record (that I can find, I didnt search crazily) on the war
O:practically nostradomus (until the surge)

Loved Newt’s comments. I love how the trolls are trying so hard to make Obama sound like he has more experience than he really does. Since when does a state senator have executive experience? or a member of the US Senate for that matter. And you may think Alaska is a non-entity state, but that is only because calling it anything else does not seem to be part of your talking points.
22. Catfish | September 3rd, 2008 at 2:51 am
There were no talking points in there. I didnt say anywhere in there he was more or less qualified than her. I stated facts. No talking points, no opinions except for 2: Obama was right on the war until the surge….and thats barely opinion………
and that she is unqualified. Thats it. rest was alllllll fact. Zero talking points. Very little opining…….i dont know what you want kj…….

Wow - you obviously ain’t seen the level of hatred promulgated at the anti-Obama sites - he’s a homosexual Muslim, Indoneisan citizen, jihadi terrorist fist-bumper crack smoker.

Why does Palin’s husband hate America?
The founder of the Alaska Independence Party — a group that has been courted over the years by Sarah Palin, and one her husband was a member of for roughly seven years — once professed his “hatred for the American government” and cursed the American flag as a “damn flag.”
The AIP founder, Joe Vogler, made the comments in 1991, in an interview that’s now housed at the Oral History Program in the Rasmuson Library at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
“The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government,” Vogler said in the interview, in which he talked extensively about his desire for Alaskan secession, the key goal of the AIP.
“And I won’t be buried under their damn flag,” Vogler continued in the interview, which also touched on his disappointment with the American judicial system. “I’ll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home.”

And Palin has a pastor problem:
…just two weeks ago, when Palin’s church, the Wasilla Bible Church, gave its pulpit over to a figure viewed with deep hostility by many Jewish organizations: David Brickner, the founder of Jews for Jesus.
Palin’s pastor, Larry Kroon, introduced Brickner on Aug. 17, according to a transcript of the sermon on the church’s website.
“He’s a leader of Jews for Jesus, a ministry that is out on the leading edge in a pressing, demanding area of witnessing and evangelism,” Kroon said.
Brickner then explained that Jesus and his disciples were themselves Jewish.
“The Jewish community, in particular, has a difficult time understanding this reality,” he said.
Brickner’s mission has drawn wide criticism from the organized Jewish community, and the Anti-Defamation League accused them in a report of “targeting Jews for conversion with subterfuge and deception.”
Brickner also described terrorist attacks on Israelis as God’s “judgment of unbelief” of Jews who haven’t embraced Christianity.
“Judgment is very real and we see it played out on the pages of the newspapers and on the television. It’s very real. When [Brickner's son] was in Jerusalem he was there to witness some of that judgment, some of that conflict, when a Palestinian from East Jerusalem took a bulldozer and went plowing through a score of cars, killing numbers of people. Judgment — you can’t miss it.”
Palin was in church that day, Kroon said, though he cautioned against attributing Brickner’s views to her.
