Democrats Worried Obama Is Blowing The Election
September 10th, 2008 at 08:54pm Matt Margolis
Looks like Democrats are seeing that Obama’s is on the verge of screwing up his campaign.
Polls showing McCain tied or even ahead of Obama are stirring angst among some of the Democratic Party’s most experienced operatives.
Polls showing John McCain tied or even ahead of Barack Obama are stirring angst and second-guessing among some of the Democratic Party’s most experienced operatives, who worry that Obama squandered opportunities over the summer and may still be underestimating his challenges this fall.
“It’s more than an increased anxiety,” said Doug Schoen, who worked as one of Bill Clinton’s lead pollsters during his 1996 re-election and has worked for both Democrats and independents in recent years. “It’s a palpable frustration. Deep-seated unease in the sense that the message has gotten away from them.”
Joe Trippi, a consultant behind Howard Dean’s flash-in-the-pan presidential campaign in 2004 and John Edwards’s race in 2008, said the Obama campaign was slow to recognize how the selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as McCain’s running mate would change the dynamic of the race.
“They were set up to run ‘experience versus change,’ what they had run [against Hillary] Clinton,” Trippi said. “And I think Palin clearly moved that to be change or reform, versus change. They are adjusting to that and that threw them off balance a little bit.”
Obama’s going down. I’m loving every minute of it.

I’m not sure what they expected. They ended up with an unvetted candidate, that has absolute no experience and no business being President. Hillary, as much as I dislike her, was marginally more experienced, and would have been a better candidate over the long run.

All that “Palin” Power results in a tie, some polls favor the Old Fish, and others favor the true champion, Obama.
Look who they quote (Trippi), by the way, and remember what happened to their candidates.
This is a different race. You actually have a Democrat who calls B$llshit out for what it is.
He’s black, don’t forget. They don’t take sh!t.
Which is also why an unqualified candidate who has no integrity and a female sidekick who lies when her lips move may squeak by in a race that has ignored any real issues.
America may not be mature enough to overcome racial bias and fear this time around
That’s the GOP/Rove play book is to turn elections into slop throwing contests and so debase the campaign to the level of tabloid trash.
So we get the same kind of politics, thanks to McCain, of dishonest rhetoric and smears.
Palin is a fighter for and taker of earmarks
Democrats did not airdrop lawyers into Alaska.
Obama’s tax plan will lower taxes on all those making less than $250,000, a bit more than McCain’s plan.
Neither candidate has any plan to address the $400 BILLION PLUS deficit.

Obama08,
I think you’re missing the point.
A few weeks ago, many of us on the Republican side of things were all but resigned to a democratic presidency. They took Congress in ‘06, the economic and foreign policy positions FAVOR democratic candidates after being under so much scrutiny. In all honesty, we had every right to believe our chances of winning this election were nonexistent.
Now you have to take comfort that the race is tied. Your side doesn’t know whether it should completely dismiss Palin or try to completely dismantle her. The Democrats have lost their change mantra to the Republicans, and everywhere now we see people turning to independent media sources and fretting over Obama. And now we’re seeing rumors (which I don’t believe, but their existence does say something) about him dropping Biden from the ticket because of how it was perceived as a bad choice!
I think that we, on the Republican side, are thanking our lucky stars that we are doing so well, and hope the trend remains constant.

and that threw them off balance a little bit.”
A little bit? ROTFL!
I agree with arcman to a point about Hillary, although I’m glad there’s no chance the Clintons will be heading back to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. next January. The Clintons are, however, masters of the ability to disagree without being disagreeable when in campaign mode. That’s something that the Obamatons have yet to figure out. The Obama campaign has also lost complete control of their surrogates, if, indeed, they ever had any control to begin with.

>>>America may not be mature enough to overcome racial bias and fear this time around.
Like the poll that showed the reason most African-Americans are voting for Obama is just because he is black?
You can’t have it both ways.

Observer:
You say:
A few weeks ago, many of us on the Republican side of things were all but resigned to a democratic presidency. They took Congress in ‘06, the economic and foreign policy positions FAVOR democratic candidates after being under so much scrutiny. In all honesty, we had every right to believe our chances of winning this election were nonexistent.
My response is that if this election were about issues, Democrats would easily win.
McCain’s campaign manager said it was not about issues.
Obama was hoping that Americans would reject the negative politics and mudslinging and typical smears. He wanted change.
McCain and the GOP are doubling down on the bet that just enough of the America people are either too stupid or simply do not care and they vote for whom the Right Wing Media tells them to vote for.
Putting Palin on there is case in point.
They are betting that just enough women will overlook that she would harm womens’ rights and is against what they stand for and vote simply on gender.
Wagering that people will do stupid things is at least a 50% bet.
Now there are people that want exactly what McCain and Palin offer. More hard right policies and endless war.
Well see whose bet is better.
America wants a real change, or America is still to fearful to embrace it.
Besides, where issues matter, in State Assemblies, the House and the Senate, Democrats are easily winning.

Maybe it’s the plan to surrender Iraq, not do anything to get us more domestic energy until some new Star Trek type source is invented, statements he’d all but stop research into advanced military technology, and wellll the socialism.
You know - all the reasons Obaba’08 above loves him so much.
Then, his surrogates follow a weekend attacking her kids with one lame attack after another until they’re getting dehydrated from all the foaming at the mouth they’re doing.

Obama08,
You’re a great example of the arrogant liberal. In your post above you have essentially everyone that doesn’t agree with you, stupid or racist.
This arrogance permeates the liberal movement and is reason A why you’re losing.
Secondly, the people have looked at the issues and are rejecting Obama’s vapid energy plan in favor of McCain’s and are a little leary of Obama’s plan to raise investment taxes and favoring McCain’s ending of earmarks.
Face it, your empty policies and arrogance have cost you another POTUS election.
9. David B. Schmidt | September 10th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Obama 08,
Idiot confirmed. To a great deal of us the race is about issues and we reject the trillion dollars in new spending (maybe more) that Obama proposes in addition to the true curtailing of our Constitutional rights (2nd Adm.). Tax increases on those that produce (over $31,400 BTW).
Negative politics have all been on Obama’s side and his surrogates. Gov. Palin was an extremely wise choice for our ticket. Quit whining.
As far as the Pig/ Lipstick item goes — it was just another “misspoke” example along the lines of giving Sen. Clinton the middle finger.
An Idiot running for an idiot in the crowd. Enjoy. You have a lot of growing up to do before your Messiah gives you the middle finger and tosses you under the bus.
Must be a really big (and polluting) bus with all of the folks under there.

Obama08,
I would agree that this is about issues, and Obama would probably have the advantage on the front on Iraq and economy if he was the Obama of a month ago.
But now he says that the surge, which he’s been advocating AGAINST his entire campaign, worked better than he anticipated. Before he wanted immediate withdrawal from Iraq, now he wants a resonsible time-table that gets us out by 2010 or something.
Now he says he MAY keep the tax cuts “temporarily” which he has advocated AGAINST his entire campaign!
How can you be against the surge but for it? How can you be for immediate withdrawal AND for a timetable for withdrawal in a year or so? How can you be fundamentally AGAINST the tax cuts, saying they are bad for the economy, and then say you may keep them for awhile?!
That is hypocracy at it’s finest, and every day he flip flops he sounds more like John Kerry.
You keep on saying that picking Palin is a ploy to appeal to his conservative base. Yes, she may appeal to them, but you fail to address that there were OTHER candidates (that the media thought were more likely VP nominees) that appealed to the conservative base on right-wing issues. And they weren’t women! According to you, the right-wing should be completely polarized on Palin because we’re all sexist, racist, uneducated slobs who want nothing more than to be lead around by a religious state. Just those of us on the right side of things can accept that she is a successful woman with conservative values that DOES NOT “legislate” (which you can’t from an executive office anyway save for vetoing) based on her personal beliefs!
We have our differing opinions on these issues, you and I, but I find that your heart is not in these arguments.
11. Retired Spook | September 10th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
How can you be fundamentally AGAINST the tax cuts, saying they are bad for the economy, and then say you may keep them for awhile?!
I believe what he said was that he wanted to postpone increasing taxes until the economy improves, which is a tacit admission that increasing taxes will hurt the economy. I do believe that’s the first time I have ever heard a Liberal admit that.
12. rightlane | September 10th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Last I saw McCain was up by ten in likely voters polls. But, for the sake of argument, let say your right and it’s all tied up at this point. Ever hear of the Bradley effect? Because of the Bradley effect, Obama’s still a minimum of 5 percentage point behind McCain. Oh, wait! Let’s give Obama the margin of error and he still 2 points down in the best possible case scenarioFor you Donks! The Bradley effect caused Obama to over-poll 5-9% in the democratic primary where he shared common political views and a higher percentage of black voters.
The Bradley effect is caused by racial prejudice against a candidate — a prejudice that most voters would never openly admit too, but feel free to express on Election Day in the privacy of an election booth.
In the general, Obama also must contend with democrats of the female persuasion, many whom feel betrayed and whom may well wish to punish the party of “choice”, while not being willing to admit too such a dastardly deed. Kind of a Bradley effect on estrogen.
So, a 2% lead for McCain is a very generous figure indeed. Worst case scenario, well that’ll make you sick Donks. Likely voters have McCain up at 10% add to that the 3% margin of error and the 9% Bradley effect and your up to 22%. Realistically, split the difference and you got a 12 point spread for McCain among likely voters and it sucks to be Donk right now.

actually, nobama really shouldnt have been picked for POTUS…it was a one way ticket out of the spotlight…ecspecially after wright…
but billary would have been a much tougher run…so the DNC spells fool “Howard Dean”….
14. js | September 10th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
ahhh let em have the sodomites…he defended thier right to marrage anyhow….but thats about all they got…we know the health care package is hoopola…and the tax issue from the dnc can go no other way but tax and spend…party provides that privlige….and we all know already about nobama’s capacity as the cut and run artist…we dont need a coward as commander in chief…and he got that down pat…he cut and runs from his church…his friends…and even his grandma…
face it…the dnc is crashing….head first…into a brick wall…
it dont get no better

Retired Spook,
Ah, I guess that is a little different from what I said. Still, it runs contrary to his message on how to fix the economy, which is still hypocritical in my book.

Wow… this is fantastic… for more than a year now we have had to tip toe around our political landscape out of fear we might say something that somebody might find racist while calling Obama’s fantasy to task… now Obama knows what it’s like. He better start watching what he says about women… or risk another Lipstick Fumble… and after all this he goes on Letterman and says Palin is the Lipstick and McCain is the pig? While… I didn’t know wheels could come off a campaign that quick… less than 2 weeks since the impressive DNC wrapped up in Denver… and you know who’s loving it big time? Hillary!

Obama08, lemming obamaton:
“My response is that if this election were about issues, Democrats would easily win.”
Then why hasn’t the Chosen One run on the issues?
Since Palin’s announcement as VP, he has done nothing but attack her, shift his focus on her when McCain is the Presidential candidate and has done nothing to stop his slide in the polls. He whines and cries when the press covers his blantant personal attacks. Even when he tries to run on an issue it turns into a personal attack.
Go scream “movie” in a crowded firehouse, since you are so devoid of reality.

The Obama veneer has cracked, and he cannot show he has actually accomplished ANYTHING of significance.
He was in Editor of the Law Review — Without writing a single item for it.
He was a ‘community organizer’ but can point to no accomplishment or problem solved while he was there.
He was a State Senator who has had an unremarkable career and whose most noteworthy item was his ability to vote ‘Present’.
He is in the US Senate, but has no accomplishments or legislation that has had any significant impact.
He claims the mantle of “Change’, but never did anything to Change the corruption in Chicago or Springfield…In fact, he ignored or embraced it in order to get along with the Daleys.
He claims ‘bi-partisanship’, but has been one of the most partisan Dems in the US Senate, never going against his party.
In short, for all his advantages, for all his adult life, he took the easy route and never had to fight for anything. He never took a significant blow to his ego or his career, and he has limped along ever since.
It’s just now catching up with him.

to arc: We, human Americans, expected of democrats that:
1. … hafl-indonesian muslim, part white hippy-whory osama-obama will not play a race card… he does and you all do…
2. … any marginally informed individual would recognize that the ONLY real job and experience of hussein obama-osama was agitating the masses of parasites against American establishment as we know and love it. Hussein’s financial experience is his fundraising for the anti-American terrorist billy ayers. Huss-baba’s international experience is even shaddier, since every mortal enemy of America (e.g., hammas, hisbolla, taliban, al queida, soros, nation of islam) had endorsed hussein publicaly and continue passionately supporting it….LOL….why would they, eh?
3. …the “annointed” spouse of osama-hussein, a pampered, and yet angry and devilishly loking michelle, won’t declare that only her shitlamonazi hubby’s candidacy made her “proud to be an American FIRST time” in her life…nice pick for a First Lady! LOL
4. your dark, deformed core has some controls and that you won’t hiss like vampires at the sight of garlic (or cross), when really accomplished American woman, a Mother, a conservative, an executive, a patriot and a Governor (adored equally by reps and dems of her state), became nominated as a VP.
5. …a creauture with shameful heritage and even more shameful, clearly communist past, would be as reckless and as vulgar as osama-obamina-ma, who called a Lady “pig”. Again, his shitlamic nature surfaced, because three most horrific muslem curses are: “infidel”, “monkey”, and …”pig”.
6. …so-called democratic women, who always pushed feminism down America’s throut, would state that the “the only qualification of Palin for VP is that she didn’t have an abortion”
7. …one day you will wake up and realized what a bunch of liers and vile simpletons you are… Congrats! You trully deserve to sink to the hell’s bottom lead by obaminator… AMEN!

The more the Dems and MSM attack, the more focus you can put on the Obamamessiah’s lack of accomplishment and his hypocrisy regarding ‘change’. You have to actually start making fun of the attackers, and their lack of interest in Rezko, Ayers, etc.
Ridicule can be a mighty weapon.

Obama08, your claim, “Obama’s tax plan will lower taxes on all those making less than $250,000, a bit more than McCain’s plan”, is false.
Most mom-and-pop small businesses, are in the $250,000 + One Dollar, tax category and would obliterate these folks. Actually, the very same prescription BO is touting for the economy, is exactly what caused the Great Depression.
KISS: i.e: “We can’t drill our way out of this”.
The Republicans are beginning to believe it too like all loyal Democrats./not

To use an old cliche, I don’t want to count our chickens before they’re hatched, but it appears we may be witnessing a political meltdown of historic proportions on the part of the Dems. For a Congressman, a Jewish Congressman, no less, compare, on the floor of the Congress, Obama to Jesus Christ and Palin to Pontius Pilot is just off the chart bizarre. I wonder if someone reminded him afterward that FDR, Carter, Reagan & Clinton were all governors. Top that off with the comment by the South Carolina Democrat Party Chairwoman (and wife of former DNC Chairman) that Palin’s only qualification is that she hasn’t had an abortion, and you’ve got the recipe for moderate Democrats to leave their party in droves. I realize Democrats have no shame, but geeeeeez…….
Just ordered another case of popcorn from my grandson’s Cub Scout Pack.
