Obama Welcomes Back A Good Friend
September 16th, 2008 at 08:06am Matt Margolis
After a bad week full of verbal gaffes, Obama has decided to bring his longtime friend and speech advisor back on campaign stops: Mr. Teleprompter.
It appears Barack Obama’s teleprompter is hitting the campaign trail.
The Democratic presidential nominee has never tried to hide the fact he delivers speeches off the device, though normally he doesn’t use one at standard campaign rallies and town hall events.
But the Illinois senator used a teleprompter at both his Colorado events Monday — making for a particularly peculiar scene in Pueblo, where the prompter was set up in the middle of what is normally a rodeo ring.
I’ve said before that Barack Obama is nothing without a teleprompter… After seeing various clips of him on the stump without one, and given his recent verbal gaffes, I’m suprised to see the teleprompter return.

Teleprompters have their place, when you need to read a freshly prepared script, for beginners.
Problem for Obama is that he needs it to make him sound good, which is bad, because it really really means that there is not much “up there” when it comes to “at hand” knowledge and experience.
On the other hand, Palin did superb when her teleprompter broke down during the convention and carried on without as much of a hint, this dude though needs it to make him sound credible……not a good salesman.

If Obama is giving his standard stump speech…Why does he need a teleprompter? By now, he should have it memorized.

Hasn’t the prompter line at the convention been pretty much debunked?
and to play the fairness card, she has not been at an event since the convention without a prompter herself, while giving pretty much the same speech she gave at the convention.

“and to play the fairness card, she has not been at an event since the convention without a prompter herself”
But Sarah is not running for President remember?
But Obama is.

I wonder if he would have one if he was to meet with Putin or that A guy in Iran. They’re on to his weakness, cluelessness.

Why has Obama been dodging McCain’s request to do townhall meetings with him? Um, Uh, Um …

It sure has. Notice how these wingnuts still cling to it, though, primarily in order to exempt Sarah Palin from this (rather stupid) “must have a teleprompter–that’s bad!” argument. It’s an odd world they live in.

The proof is in the extremely poor performance of the Annointed One against McCain at that forum.
Even the “lipstick on a pig” comment would have been correct had the Chosen One read it from the teleprompter rather than ad-libbing it.
I wonder if Obama has the same problem with telling jokes? He must be a real bummer at parties.

Frankly, I’m delighted that both parties have now decided that the basic ability to deliver a speech, teleprompted or off-the-cuff, is a necessary skill for a president to have.
We gave the whole English-As-A-Second-Language-President thing a fair shot. It didn’t work out so well. So I am pleased to see that both parties can learn from our mistakes.

K4V,
I think he’s stalling until they develop a portable teleprompter that works like the harmonica holder that Bobby Dylan used to use.

If this was Bush the media would’ve ate him alive.
