What Would You Ask Barack Obama At The Debate?

Click here to get Caucus of Corruption: The Truth About The New Democratic Majority by Matt Margolis and Mark Noonan.

Last night I gave some commentary to a local talk radio station in Buffalo, NY regarding the debate tonight between Senator John McCain, and former community organizer Barack Obama. There are certainly a lot questions I’d like to see asked of Barack Obama, but the one I gave on the air is posted here.

In anticipation of the final debate, I’d like to pose question for everyone to answer, “What would you ask Barack Obama at the debate tonight?”

Senator, you have spoken about being for reform and for the average citizen. However, when it came time to replace the ailing John Stroger, you supported his unqualified son Todd, who promptly fired regular Cook County Hospital employees and then hired friends and relatives at enormous salaries. How do you explain what you’ve said versus what you have actually done?

  2. Fool Disclosure says:

Senator, when supported the vote to grant immunity to telecommunications firms that participated in the illegal surveillance of countless innocent tax-paying Americans, were you imagining what you would do with the unconstitutional powers that President Bush has consolidated for your delectation?

  3. mick says:

    To both candidates…
I would ask, knowing everything you know now about Iraq, would still have voted to go to WAR?
    and why?

  4. LaMano says:

What, specifically, were the qualities and experiences of SCOTUS nominees Alito and Roberts that you considered them unfit? Keep in mind that the bar is relatively low since judicial appointments are presented to the Senate for ‘advice and consent’.

    Of course, Obama will:
    1. Dismiss this question with some meaningless, generic statement about SCOTUS justices.
    2. Answer some completely different question so he can bloviate about something else that he prefers.
    3. Both of the above.

You never fail in embarrassing yourself locally or nationally do you Matt.

Do you realize how old Barak Obama was when engaging in terrorist activities. He was 8 or 9 years old. He met him 30 years later after he met him as a University Professor. What ‘associations’ did he have with him – he happened to serve on a panel with the guy and was present at a luncheon with him. Further – Ayers hosted a coffee with Barak Obama as a fund raiser for him.

That is the extent of the supposed association between the two. He met him as a University Professor on a panel and allowed him to host a coffee meeting for him. That is it! It is unclear if Barak Obama even knew who he was when he met him. Did you know before the story broke? I doubt it.

It is clearly nothing but a smear campaign by a desperate republican right realizing that they need a game changer to deal with the fact that they are possibly 14 points down with election in a couple of weeks.

It is pathetic and it won’t work Matt. Pathetic.

  6. Ricorun says:

Let’s see… I’d like to ask Obama to explain in as much detail as possible (a) his monetary, tax, and economic policies; (b) explain how they all fit together, and (c) what he sees as the predominant challenges in trying to make it happen.

Actually, I’d like to hear both McCain and Obama answer that. I’d also like to hear from McCain how much he thinks his plan to build 45 nuclear plants by 2030 will cost taxpayers and why. He’s never even approached an answer to that, and I’d like to hear what it is.

Obama and Biden both stated they are for marriage between one man and one woman.

With MA, CA, and now CN now going “gay.”
I would ask Obama, does he approve of the judges decisions? As President, Would he try and restore traditional family values? Is this trend of blue states destroying marriage, something that he, as leader of the democrat party is going to support. Or try and stop. Is the 2012 election going to be Red States vs Pink or fuschia color states. With Obama stating he is for traditional marriage, is he going to take a stand for Marriage?

how did the forged certificate get on the internet?

  9. LaMano says:

Sophisticated computer analysis using literary forensics revealed that the writing style of your book, “Dreams from My Father”, correlated much more significantly with Bill Ayers than your own literary style.

Did William Ayers write any, or all, of either of your “autobiographies” or participate in the publication in any way?

    ————————————-

It is common knowledge, lib4ever, that Ayers consulted with the juvenile Obama to get his approval on every terrorist act he committed and today, Obama and Ayers are still in cahoots; heck, even as we speak, they are probably hatching some sort of atrocity to be perpetrated on Obama’s inauguration day.

    My question to Obama…

Can you give us a hint what surprise you and Ayers have in store for the American people?

actually the hypocricy is in your lap…thats the stench you smell…otherwise…nothing you posted is on topic as usual…are you trying to prove how stupid you are by posting off topic or just hoping to be deleted dennis?

  13. Chuckasaurus says:

Mr. Obama – If it is determined that you are not a natural born U.S. citizen because you were born in Kenya, and are subsequently deemed unable to run for president, do you think it will safe to say that you had it coming, after the way you had your lawyers knock off all of your competition through technicalities when running for the Illinois State Senate?

  14. A-10 says:

    lib4ever,

Have you been living in a cave, or are you in denial about the alliance between Sen Obama and the unrepentant terrorist William Ayers?

“He met him as a University Professor on a panel and allowed him to host a coffee meeting for him. That is it! It is unclear if Barak Obama even knew who he was when he met him.”

Did you know that Michelle Obama, Barack Obama, and William Ayer’s wife all worked at the same law firm?

Did you know that the “Coffee Meeting” was actually a “Meet the Candidate” in Ayers’ living room where Barack Obama was introduced to Chicago politics as the successor to Alice Palmer? (By the way, did you know that Barack Obama renigged on his promise not to run for the IL Senate after Palmer lost her bid for the US House of Rep and had Palmer removed from the ballot on technicalities. How ironic!!)

Did Barack Obama ever think to check out the guy who was hosting the meeting? Wouldn’t you be concerned if you found out he was a terrorist?

Did you know that they didn’t just “sit on a panel” together and that Ayers selected Barack Obama, someone with no executive experience, to be the Chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge?

Did you know that Barack Obama and William Ayers gave away $150M to help Chicago schools? Did you know that they weren’t interested in improving math and science scores, but to promote radical teaching and student indoctrination? Did you know that the Chicago schools were worse off after this extra $150M was spent?

Did you know that Ayers and Obama worked hand in hand on the Wood Fund?

Did you know that first Sen Obama claimed he didn’t really know Ayers, that he was “just a guy that lived in the same neighborhood?” Then the story changed to “I thought he was rehabilitated.” Now who knows what he is saying about the alliance.

To claim that the barely know each other either proves your stupidity or the fact you have been into Sen Obama’s drug stash.

I’d ask the reverse of Rico’s question:

What will be the cost if we DON’T build 45 nuclear plants by 2030?

I’d also approach the Ayers connection from an entirely different angle. Since Ayers’ life after the Weather Underground has been primarily about radical reforms in education (an area where Obama and Ayers worked together on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge), and since Ayers has recently visited Venezuela and praised Chavez’s revolutionary education reforms; I’d ask Senator Obama if he agree’s with Ayers vision of education in America and why, or, if not, why not.

Those sneaky SOB’s, I betcha this was their way of recruiting
    future terrorists.

    Another question for Obama:-

How many students from Chicago schools have you indoctrinated for your terrorist activities?

    Deleted – off topic.

  19. Ricorun says:

Spook: I’d ask the reverse of Rico’s question: What will be the cost if we DON’T build 45 nuclear plants by 2030?

Point taken. Perhaps I presumed too much because I am familiar with a number of studies that have crunched the numbers associated with various other alternatives. For example, there is here’s this one, conducted by the DOE, which looks at the cost of building wind power to approximately the same extent (20% of grid power). That one shouldn’t be new to you. Nor should others I could offer. But the point is that McCain has offered nothing by way of cost details regarding his plan. Not one word, as far as I know. Others have, but they are either offered by left-leaning individuals like Joe Romm, or from financial houses like Moody’s or financial publications like Forbes. And they are all rather skeptical (sometimes for different reasons, sometime the same, depending on the assumed POV). So I’m trying to give McCain the benefit of the doubt here.

There may be ways McCain could make his plan cost-effective. But I haven’t come across any — at least not any that were based on current real world prices, or current real world issues. As I see it, any alternative requires significant changes in not only federal regulations, but state and local regulations as well. For example, any alternative will require the reorganization and streamlining of transmission regulations — easement requirements, eminent domain, ownership issues, that sort of thing. It’s a veritable nightmare, but no matter what the details or the alternative, they are necessary to the extent that you want to put any big, integrated installations on the grid — nuclear, wind, solar, whatever.

The real discriminating features, as I see them, are these: (a) nuclear power requires significant price guarantees. They take a long time to build. Also, because they require a very complex supply chain, construction delays and therefore cost overruns are more the rule than the exception. Those things are always toxic, but they are even more so in the present credit environment. But even before the recent credit collapse, NO ONE in the financial market was willing to insure a nuclear plant against loan defaults. Things have only gotten worse. Likewise, the price of fossil fuels (or at least oil) have dropped 40% or so in the last 6 months or so. That kind of volatility in the face of a long-term project is an added kiss of death all by itself. Consequently, if McCain wants to build a bunch of nuclear power plants, he has to be willing to federalize (or, dare I say it — socialize) virtually ALL of the loan guarantees. And that could easily be as much as $150 billion.

So yeah, I really want to see him answer the freakin’ question — especially because he hasn’t even approached it before.

Oops, I forgot in my previous comment…

    (b) Where are we going to put all the radioactive waste? And how much is that going to cost? Assuming it will be reprocessed, how much will it cost?

  21. neocon says:

    A. Senator Obama – You’ve stated on numerous occasions that the current mortgage crisis is due to Bush’s deregulation policies, however it is well documented that the President urged Congress to enact legislation addressing the lack of competent oversight and regulation of Fannie and Freddie of which Congress failed to act on? In addition, Sen. McCain addressed Congress in 2006 urging Congress to enact stricter oversight of this impending problem. What were your votes on those two requests from Congress from the President and the Senator and why were you not more vocal on this issue.

    B. Senator Obama – you have stated on numerous occasions that your tax plan will cut the taxes for 95% Americans, however, it is well documented that nearly 50% of population do not pay income taxes. Can you clarify that plan? in addition, the net difference between your plan and Sen McCains is a net positive difference of $1500 for the lower two income brackets. In your opinion what impact will an additional $1500 annually, or a little more than $100 a month, have on those families lives? And please answer that in the context that your plan also calls for substantially raising the income taxes of small business owners, and corporations, putting many of those lower income families jobs at risk.

  22. Kurt says:

    1) Senator Obama, if you were too cowardly to fight for change here in Cook County and Chicago, what makes us think you will fight for change nationwide?

    2) Senator Obama, in the VP debate Sen Biden said Hizbollah was kicked out of Lebanon. When did this happen, and when did you ask for NATO troops to be be deployed there?

  23. Retired Spook says:

    Rico,

I bookmarked this site several years ago during a discussion about nuclear energy. I don’t know how up to date it is, but it had a lot of good information about nuclear waste disposal at the time. I used to have a link to a really good multi-page article about Yucca Mountain, but I can’t seem find it.

My personal feeling is that neither candidate has much intimate knowledge about energy, and both tend to talk in general terms, probably provided to each of them on note cards by members of their respective staffs who also don’t know sh*t about energy. Sad.

Unfortunately, I don’t see Congressional Democrats and Republicans agreeing on any kind of a comprehensive energy policy any time soon, regardless of who’s President. That’s even sadder, so I’ve decided to provide my own energy. Last weekend I cut and split a cord of firewood (for you youngsters and city-slickers, that’s a stack 4′ high, 4′ wide and 8′ long) — some Red Oak, but mostly Hickory. I have a woodburning stove that will heat my 4,000 sq. ft. house all winter if the going gets really rough.

  24. neocon says:

    One more:

Senator Obama – In the last debate a specific question was asked whether or not you would militarily protect Israel against an attack. You failed to answer that question, so I will submit it again. And that is a yes or no question.
