We Can Expect Justice to be for Sale Under Obama
by Mark Noonan on November 19th, 2008 at 01:57am
Imagine that - the Great Hopenchange thinks long and deeply and out of the depths of his all-wise soul comes the new Attorney General…a Clintonite who was dropped the ball in the disgusting last-minute Clinton pardon of tax cheat Marc Rich…who then took his new-found pardoned status and went right on in to Saddam’s Oil for Food scandal:
President-elect Obama has decided to tap Eric Holder as his attorney general, putting the veteran Washington lawyer in place to become the first African-American to head the Justice Department, according to two legal sources close to the presidential transition…
…The only hesitancy about Holder’s selection was that he himself had reservations about going through a confirmation process that was likely to revive questions about his role in signing off on the controversial pardon of fugitive financier Marc Rich. Although there is no evidence that Holder actively pushed the pardon, he was criticized for not raising with the White House the strong objections that some Justice Department lawyers and federal prosecutors in New York had to pardoning somebody who had fled the country. But after reviewing the evidence in the case, and checking with staffers on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Obama aides and Holder both decided the issue was highly unlikely to prove an obstacle to his confirmation, one of the sources said–especially given the Democrats’ more sizable post-election majority in the Senate.
A partisan hack as Chief of Staff; an ambulance-chaser as White House Counsel, a crook’s dream as Attorney General…this is the change you liberals were demanding? This is what you wanted?
The incoming Obama Administration just gets worse by the day…

I’ve got money on you nuts accusing Obama of murder within the year. You heard it here first…

If Obama appointed Gandhi and Mother Teresa (or perhaps from his point of view, the Pope and Grover Norquist), you (Mark) would be talking about their associations with unsavory elements. You are completely incapable of looking at any situation with the slightest amount of perspective, balance, or regard for truth; all Democrats are irrevocably evil and each is worse than the other; and George W. Bush is literally God’s gift to America. You remain possibly the stupidest blogger on the planet.

Alex,
And if I were as you describe, you’d have a point.
But the problem here is that you don’t seem to want to confront the fact that Obama is making some really bad picks for his Administration.

Is there anything outside the Mark Rich pardon that this guy has done wrong? I would love to know so I could write about it on my blog if there is. I’ll check back tomorrow to see if anyone as come up with anything.

But Mark, you were silent on Bush’s picks such as the wretched Gonzales.
This was a man who repeatedly lied to Congress, concealed wrongdoing and evaded accountability as well as the rule of law.
Your complaints about Holder would carry more weight if you had not remained so silent about the slippery Gonzales.
In terms of AG picks, we’re coming off a pretty low bases.

Really? George Bush had Libby - a convicted felon. He also had Ashcroft - a guy who spent $8,000 of federal money on redecoration. He had Rove - a reincarnation of death himself, by all accounts. He had Brownie - a guy who had know idea what he was doing. He had Paul Wolfowitz, a guy who tells anyone who disagrees with him “F!!! You!”

Hilarious and very typical. Liberals defend Obama’s poor choices by comparing them to … SURPRISE … Bush!
All one has to do is look at Gutterball’s friends and mentors (Wright, Rezko, Pfleger, Ayers) and now, his choices of who to put in high positions in his administration to know that he has extremely poor judgement of character. If he can’t choose wisely, how the hell is he going to run the country?
Can’t wait for mandatory registration and moderation of liberal spew. One week for you Libs to post your crap and then you are gone! Yeah!

Obama is making some choices that you don’t like, but you don’t like anything about him.
So that is to be expected.

Is there anything outside the Mark Rich pardon that this guy has done wrong?
Yes–he got nominated by Obama. For some folks, that’s enough.
November 19th, 2008 at 11:00 am
They ignore the fact that this was the guy who prosecuted Dan Rostenkowski. All they will talk about (guaranteed) is Mark Rich.
He’s been on a long, smooth highway his entire career but Noonan and his flock of sheep will focus on the one speed bump.
Typical.

Juvenile, stupid, dangerous assessment.
He absolutely will, you can take that to the arkansas bank.

Is this the GOPs solution to their downfall?
No new ideas, no solutions, no way to raise America up? Just complaints and accusations?
with this type of deep thinking I see a Palin nomination in 2012 and an enduring democratic majority well past 2016

We’ve been subjected to smashmouth politics for many years now. Now is not the time to start playing nice.

Obama and the Bombmaker’s Church
By Jeffrey Lord on 3.18.08 @ 12:08AM
There’s more.
Let’s move on from the tale of Senator Barack Obama’s pastor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, to another tale of Obama’s United Church of Christ — a denomination that he and I share.
Does the name Fuerzas Armadas de Liberacion Nacional — Armed Forces of National Liberation — ring a bell? You may remember this charming group by its initials, FALN. A so-called revolutionary group determined to bring about Puerto Rican independence through violence. As reminded in a detailed February 12, 2008 article in the Wall Street Journal by Debra Burlingame, it was FALN that was responsible for a New Year’s Eve, 1982 bombing at One Police Plaza in New York. The explosion ripped the lower leg off of Police Officer Rocco Pascarella, as well as destroying the entrance to the building. Of Officer Pascarella, Ms. Burlingame quotes the following: “He was ripped up like someone took a box cutter and shredded his face,” remembered Detective Anthony Senft, one of the bomb-squad officers who answered the call 25 years ago. “We really didn’t even know that he was a uniformed man until we found his weapon, that’s how badly he was injured.”
Stop the tape.
April 1998. Reno’s deputy attorney general Eric Holder meets with Paul Sherry, who is advocating clemency for FALN members. One wonders whether any responsibility for the loss of Officer Rocco Pascarella’s leg, the blinding of Detective Senft’s one eye, the shattering of his facial bones and the fracturing of his hip, as well as the complete blinding of Detective Pastorella and the loss of all the fingers of his right hand, was discussed. Holder does ask Sherry whether or not the FALN terrorists had renounced violence. Sherry, says Deputy Attorney General Holder later, “said they would not change their beliefs.
Paul Sherry is actually the Reverend Paul Sherry, who, at the time he was meeting with the Deputy Attorney General of the United States to request clemency for the perpetrators of such horrific acts, was, I am sorry to say, the president of the United Church of Christ — the denomination that Senator Obama and I share. Reverend Sherry’s request — and he certainly was not alone — was granted. As Ms. Burlingame and many others, notably the website UCC Truths, have noted, on August 11, 1999 clemency was indeed offered by President Clinton to the FALN terrorists. Twelve accepted in less than a month, and over the objections of then-Democratic Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan of New York, the terrorists were granted their freedom.

Former Marine, you totally miss the irony. You expect Obama, the terrorist sympathizer, reverend Wright supporter who appoints crooks and ambulance chasers to foster a new era of cooperation and value your opinion.

You mean like justice has been for sale for the last 8 years?
No. It will finally re-start being an actual justice department again. You know, like it was before Bush.
