Seems that the people of Venezuela are out of step with American leftists:
President Hugo Chávez’s supporters suffered defeat in several state and municipal races on Sunday, with the opposition retaining power in Zulia, the country’s most populous state, and winning crucial races here in the capital, the National Electoral Council said.
Pro-Chávez candidates won 17 of the 22 governor’s races at stake. Many of the seats that Mr. Chavez’s supporters did win were in relatively sparsely populated rural states.
The losses were Mr. Chávez’s second setback at the polls in the past year, after the defeat of a proposed constitutional overhaul last December that would have enhanced his powers. The results will put opponents of Mr. Chávez in charge of areas with more than a third of Venezuela’s 26 million people.
In the early hours of Monday, electoral officials announced opposition victories in two important states, Táchira, on the border with Colombia, and Carabobo, with a large industrial base.
An opposition candidate also won in Sucre, a municipality in Caracas with sprawling slums that had been a symbolic bastion of support for Mr. Chávez since he rose to power a decade ago.
“These victories came in the economic and political centers of the country,” said Luis Vicente León, director of Datánalisis, a polling firm here. “They represent the most important symbols in terms of cities and population.”
It is clear that the shine has worn off of Chavez – who has spent Venezuela’s wealth in foolish arms build ups and sponsoring terrorism, and now faces the economic bill as oil prices collapse. It is now hoped that Chavez will read the writing on the wall and gracefully exit the scene. Unfortunately, Chavez might not be reasonable – one of the challenges Obama might face is what to do if Venezuela, under Chavez, becomes a full blown dictatorship as Chavez refuses to step down…

Noam Chomsky Supports Communism And Chavez
Communist leaning Venezuelan “dictator” Hugo Chavez promoted Noam Chomsky’s book at the UN recently. Those in the know are not surprised. Mr. CHomsky considers himself to be a Libertarian Socialist. Whats that you ask? Look it up on the web – “Libertarian socialism includes a group of political philosophies that aims to create a society without political, economic or social hierarchies – a society within which individuals freely co-operate together as equals. This would be achieved through the abolition of private property, thereby restoring direct control of the means of production and resources to the working class and other unpropertied classes.
Noam is a Communist, but by another name. Noam is promoting Communist ideology. If you like your home, your rights, your private property, then don’t support this brand of lunacy. Communism and its Socialist bastard killed more people in the last century than all wars combined. Take a pass on this brand of idiocy and don’t buy his book(s).
If you see Noam talking up Hugo in a bookstore near you soon, or vice versa, don’t be surprised.
Obama On Chavez
…..Mr. Obama told Walter Pacheco of the Orlando Sentinel earlier this year that he’d personally meet with Mr. Chavez: “One of the obvious high priorities in my talks with President Hugo Chavez would be the fermentation of anti-American sentiment in Latin America, his support of (Marxist narco-terrorists) FARC in Colombia, and other issues he would want to talk about,” Sen. Obama said then. “It is important to understand that ignoring these countries has not led to improved behavior on their part and it has not served our national security interests.” But in a speech in Miami the very next day, Mr. Obama said any Latin American government that supports FARC (the Spanish acronym for the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) should be isolated.
…..When Mr. Obamas apparent contradiction was brought to his attention, a foreign policy adviser to Mr. Obama told him the senator does indeed believe that Hugo Chavez supports FARC.
…..In fact the computer information captured on the laptop of FARC leader of Raul Reyes, now deceased, indicated support from Hugo Chavez and was found to be genuine per Interpol. Someone must have read that after he “misspoke” and stated he would meet with Chavez.
…..Lets “hope” that the audacious Mr. Obama will get his facts straight prior to getting in the White House. Lets also hope that as Chavez stumbles, Mr. Obama will continue to do all he can do to encourage his fall. One means to that end would be for Obama to commit to not reinstating the oil drilling ban along US coastlines.
Obama’s best friend Bill Ayers, is a good friend of Chavez. No doubt that Chavez has nothing to fear from an Obama Administration, which has been openly hostile to Columbia, the country whose government Chavez wishes to overthrow.
You guys really don’t get it. Chavez is a better capitalist president than Bush because Chavez hasn’t had to NATIONALIZE any banks this week. Just that one thing makes Chavez less of a socialist than Bush.
Do yourself a favor and leave this alone. Stick to topices you have some idea about which you speak.
LOL
Bush expanded government more then Chavez
Bush indebted government more then chavez
Bush has increased government ownership of private enterprises more then Chavez
Now reminded me why Bush isn’t a socialist but Obama supposively is ???
LOL even more!
Obama wants to expand government more than the current level achieved by Bush.
Obama wants to increase spending close to $1 trillion.
Obama wants to nationalize healthcare on top of the very few enterprises that the government “has taken ownership of”.
Obama wants a private security force that is just as powerful and equipped as the military.
Obama admitted in his books of his socialist beliefs and support by his mentors.
Bush acted like liberals do now and in the past. Obama is going to give us more of the same.
To name a few…… not laughing now are you?
Oh, and spare us the talking points.
Oh I’m laughing Danish Artist because my money is golden and shiny not made out of toilet paper. My advice: Pay off your credit cards starting now and buy gold as saving and take physical possession. One ounce Maple Leafs, Krugerrands, Austrian Philharmonikers and American Eagles in 10 dollar denominations and keep them in a box undfer your bed for when your dollar is worthless next year until the Obama plan can restore confidence around June 2009.
You have no idea what sort of bill of goods the Bush monetary policy was, do you? Let me ask you have you checked to see if your credit card company has lowered your credit limit? I think you should. The demand destruction of credit limits BY THE CREDITORS will be the next horror that drives the fools who actually believed the GOP elite wanted their middle class butts in their party for a reason other than to keep them feeding at the public trough closer to the center and into the loving arms of the Democrats. The Mommy Party will make everything better with a late 2010 tax increase on the top 20% of wage earners that kick starts the US economy. By 2012 election night this crisis will be a painful afterthought as the boom caused by infrastructure jobs will make the Clinton Pax Americana look like the Bear Market of 73.
Watch this and learn. The first guy is Art Laffer of the Laffer Curve arguing with Peter Schiff a guy who has accurately predicted the last two US recessions and absolutely nailed the housing bubble deflating.
The Bush monetary policy was called a “jobless recovery” by the Cato Institute’s Chairman William Niskanen– in 2004! What I’m saying DA is that you’ve got to have something, other than partisan fervor, to back up arguments about material issues like economics. To just dive in with ACORN/Wright/Ayers/socialism/Liberals makes you look stupid even to the people who think conservatism is better than liberalism. Money policy isn’t politics it is a tangible yet flexible real world manifestation of Brownian movement related to equities, derivatives and commodities.”– Carlton Pryor, Lead Economist TED-OG.
We’ve got our Krugman clone where I live too. Learn some Macro and then get back to me. You know where I work.
DT,
uh, haven’t you been LISTENING to the Chosen One? – his plans, his agenda from his own mouth?
Obviously not. Those statements of his agenda and ideas came from Obama himself – and not as you erroneously assumed a result of the Wright/Ayers/etc/etc. crowd. You are truly one of the millions of mindless Obamatons.
Case in point, “The Mommy Party will make everything better with a late 2010 tax increase on the top 20% of wage earners that kick starts the US economy. By 2012 election night this crisis will be a painful afterthought as the boom caused by infrastructure jobs will make the Clinton Pax Americana look like the Bear Market of 73.”
Uh, first, Clinton admitted that his tax increase was the wrong thing to do. And his so-called “boom” had nothing to do with it and his policies.
Second, you have swallowed the kool-aid without question. You are another moron who believes that government can tax its way to prosperity for all. Truly pathetic.
Go back and hang out with your fellow mindless minions at the useless Daily Pitchfork. You all can spew the Obama slogans, talking points and make him one of your higher minions to worship 24/7. If it were not for the free porn, nobody would buy the BS you are shoveling.

That’s what I love about Winghuts they never use the ad hominem attack. Nope it’s always fact with you guys I’ve gotta tell you. I’ve ordered lunch in just so I can play with you guys for a little bit longer. Sure thousands of people a week come to the site I work for just to see people having sex in all manners you can imagine and its free. Big Deal. Many thousands more come to read and comment on the fine journalism there. I get the fact that you are a family values guy who is put off by gay sex, abortion and the rich being taxed fairly. Really I get that. But when I ask this question I expect you to answer rationally, “What could W do if given a third term to get America out of the fi8nancial and economic muck it is in?”
Ruminate, slowly.
I’ll just go on in my Rachel Maddow sort of humorous way to the next topic. If you think for a moment that you can match wits with Pain, Kelso, Cavalor or anyone else at the Daily Pitchfork just trot on over and log on as an anonymous commenter. It’s that simple. I love to engage conservatives on their front lawn as I do here and somethime I admit I used to get a little to fired up. Those days are over the dark cloud is rolling away from DC and a SUN of HOPE is about to rise on a crisp bright new American morning. I’m happy about that. You on the other hand honestly want Obama to fail so you can point and stammer and shout that a black Liberal should never have been president. That’s what you are waiting for and that desire to see a president fail is most anti-American and much more so than anything that William Ayers ever set out to do. I’m not an American citizen anymore so I can scream at the sky all I want about wanting Bush to fail. That’s my right in my own country just like many on the right spew fire and brimstone at Hugo Chavez from the safety of your office cubicle.
I wasn’t talking about the Clinton tax hike per se I was talking about that booming economy you seem to have forgotten that existed from 1993 to 2000 that has not been matched since. Now I am willing to bet a little copper coin you are good at something Danish Artist but arguing politcal and economic matters just ain’t among them.
I’m a small woman and not a scintilla as bright as PAIN and I school you every time because you want your worldview and talking points to be facts. I was for Hillary personally so I’m not an Obamaton or whatever.
Two things I know1) the GOP elite doesn’t think your middle class butt would be worth peeing on if your head was on fire 2) the Religious Right wants your money and your vote in that order. Notice the word Soul wasn’t in there anywhere.
DT.
I have been to your “site”. “Many thousands more come to read and comment on the fine journalism there”.
Now you are lying. If any one thread has more than 10 comments it is a rare event indeed. If a thread has more than 10, in most cases, someone like me goes there and stirs the pot. It is so amusing to see drug induced morons, such as Shadow, Pain, Kelso, etc etc. trying to splutter their way through a response without going into a Turets-like syndrome spasm.
The Clinton “boom” as you call it had nothing to do with Clinton’s tax policy, as you claim Obama would benefit from taxing the top 20% of wage earners. Clinton went along for the ride on the waves of the internet boom, which he had nothing to do with.
And stop whining about ad hominem attacks. Each and every post ath the DP, including yours, declines into anti-religious screed.
As far a Obama succeeding, he needs to and I hope he does. But from his agenda, I doubt that it will have the affect you so claim and desire.
“I’m not an American citizen anymore so I can scream at the sky all I want about wanting Bush to fail.”
Wow, you hope Bush fails. But you expect others to respect Obama and give him a chance.
Typical left wing BS. Just keep drinking the koolaid and bowing down to the Chosen One.
