There are some things which can’t be tolerated – and the growing absurdity known as the Obama Administration is one of them:
President Obama’s choice for Commerce Secretary, Senator Judd Gregg, withdrew his nomination on Thursday. He said there were “irresolvable conflicts” between him and the administration.
“It has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census, there are irresolvable conflicts for me,” Mr. Gregg said in a statement. “Prior to accepting this post, we had discussed these and other potential differences, but unfortunately we did not adequately focus on these concerns. We are functioning from a different set of views on many critical items of policy.”
The withdrawal comes one week after Mr. Gregg was named to become the third Republican member of the Obama Cabinet. It is the second time that the commerce secretary position has been vacant within the last month.
The conflicts, I imagine, revolve around the fact that the so-called “stimulus” bill is a con job, while the census going under direct White House control means that liberals are going to try and gerrymander the United States, likely by trying to manage the count so that liberal areas of the country lose fewer House seats than expected. Disaster is coming, and no one with any sense really wants to be part of the train wreck, except Gates at Defense who is doing a patriot’s job of protecting the military as best he can against the liberals.

Good for Gregg.
Politicizing the census bureau. Wow, even Carter didn’t do that.
That’s bold.
Just another observation over the last year.
Isn’t it refreshing that the politics of politics is currently the most important national dialogue, rather than the discussion of terror?
Thanks to the US military and the previous admin, the courage and resolve to stay in the fight to win, has afforded us the current luxury.
If this current admin doesn’t stay as diligent and as resolved, it could turn again, and quickly.

And had a dirty bomb gone off ion DC the day after Obama was inaugurated you would be howling for his Impeachment. On the other hand, had DC been dirty bombed in 2005 and the US capital lost for forty years to cesium or strontium fallout somehow Dubya still would have been free from criticism. I’m just waiting for the lone nut, like the Nazi in Belfast, ME, to do something so you can all pile on you’re just waiting for the day. You socials will do the same thing Palestinians did in the streets of Gaza and Ramallah when the Towers collapsed in fire and blood and smoke they danced in the streets with joy and denounced the name of the President of the United States.
Politicizing the census bureau. Wow, even Carter didn’t do that.
That’s bold.
Leaving aside the obvious falsehood in the above statement for the moment, I do find it amusing that suddenly, wingnuts think politicizing government agencies is a bad thing.

I will be rejoicing the day when God’s Spirit begins to move in America and lives are transformed with millions and millions and millions of people will hold hands to renew America with one gigantic voice – JESUS IS LORD!!
:)
Good for him! Gregg ASKED for the position, but now is withdrawing his name. . . just like an erratic Republican weasel!
Hey, at least we know who’s going to get the credit if the economy turns around! The GOP is already a small regional party which is using the Taliban as a model (according to Pete Sessions). If the economy improves, though, they will continue to shrink. I still remember that Clinton’s 1993 deficit reduction act received NO GOP support. . . they kept insisting that it would lead to an enormous recession! Needless to say, the Republicans were wrong again- just like they have been on EVERY ISSUE for the past 8 years!
Meanwhile, they are the party of “No” and of old, disproven ideas. I think you folks were onto something when you supported the “Nuclear Option”. . . .
Good riddance, Gregg.
actually coulter…(highly qualified mental mdiget repeater)
greggs conscionce must have won out over his good will to set politics aside…you got to wonder exactly what it is that is so…disagreeable…that a man would give up such power and prestige…but then again…that takes too much brain juice, eh? something you liberal stooges are so short of….
dont think…you might turn into a obamacite zombie!!
-the funny thing is…clinton was afraid to end the iraq conflict…which directly caused 9-11…OBL as much as told us that fact over and over when our embassies were betting bombed all over africa…and then when they hit the Cole…
yet..you liberal idiots think that bush was such a bad man…because of war and the terrors that go with it…and you such up to the ignorant men who caused it to start with with thier ignorant politics and socialist ambitions of power…
the real nuclear option is to forestall the US long enough to allow our enemies to aquire nuclear arms…so they can let an attack happen against us on our soil…which is exactly what obamacide is doing when he makes pakistan his enemy…and kisses the butts of the iranians…
you dont have the sense to figure it all out…you liberals are as stupid as a turd and in reality…have no business sitting here arguing your nonsense like it contained one bit of the truth…you cant make a lie into the truth…and if you take the truth and change it…as you so often do…you only end up with another lie…
the party of no is the party of NO SOCIALISM…its the party of FREE MEN…
I’d like to see the entire Republican party revolt, and every Conservative in America…
All Republican Congress members will step out, and all Conservatives in America will say, ‘You ain’t gettin’ none o’ my money … you wanna run the show, you run it, but we ain’t havin’ no part of it. And the minute you try ta take are money, we goin’ knock ye in the head.
gregg withdraws and…
Catapillar CEO contradicts obamacide…say they are not going to rehire…but fire more workers…
obamacide…better off with it…call a councellor near you!! its not over till the fat lady sings…
WHERE YA AT BLOCH?
The only thing that could make tis better for me is if we find out that the republicans did it on purpose :)
Orlando-
Leaving aside the obvious falsehood in the above statement for the moment, I do find it amusing that suddenly, wingnuts think politicizing government agencies is a bad thing.
Sorry tough guy – Obamas the president. “He won”
Time to quit blaming the last guy and suck up the blame.
the only thing goin on is the corruption of obamacide…his lips are the conduit to his stupidity…and proof is in the puddin they say…
his cabinet is either corrupt politicians evading taxes and what not…or morally they want nothing to do with him…
that shouts out LOUDLY about whats going on…
I’d say it’s morally, js.
Time to quit blaming the last guy and suck up the blame.
Who said anything about blame? I’m merely referring to how the wingnut opinion on the idea of politicizing government agencies has suddenly done a 180.
politicizing government agencies has suddenly done a 180.
Yeah, it’s time we cracked down on the Democrats and steer clear of their corrupt way of governing.
Obama, Pelosi and Reid are very good at politicizing. The American way means nothing to them.

The CEO of CAT stated that the layoffs that were announced will still take place and that if the ARRP 2009 is passed he will be able to rehire many of them.

The American way?
tell me where you find America in the Bible?
tell me where you find America in the Bible?
The Bible doesn’t apply just to America … it is universal, and that’s why you find it all over the world … in some places it may not be very pronounced, but that’s because the certain countries don’t like to govern by it, because it teaches to do good, and they’d rather govern by evil means.
The Bible is a very big part of our history, you can find it on the walls of our Congressional buildings and monuments, and evil people have been trying for decades to get the Bible verses removed, as well as prayer and witnessing.
Sadly, those evil forces are now taking over, because God’s people haven’t been faithful.
Something has got to break soon, and I feel that it is, this country is getting progressively more wicked with each passing minute … it’s not going to be pretty, but hopefully in its wake will be a revival! Then again, it may be the time that Jesus decides to return!
Don’t hold your breath Jeremiah…
I’m not saying for certain, bongoman. No one knows when He’s coming back.
When He comes, though, I want to be ready. Hope you are too.
coulter,
That works, if you believe the Obama Administration is telling the truth about Gregg seeking them out…unless there is a written document from Gregg, notarized and sworn to by at least two other people, I won’t buy that damage-control line…
>>That works, if you believe the Obama Administration is telling the truth about Gregg seeking them out<<
Well, Gregg himself placed no blame on the Obama administration. He also praised Obama’s spirit of bi-partisanship. . .
The American people are NOT stupid! They see that Obama has attempted to reach out to the GOP, but that the GOP has made no effort to work with the Obama administration. Moreover, Obama enjoys a 77% approval rating. . . Congressional Dems have an approval rating in the 40s and Congressional Republicans in the 20s!!!
Again, if the economy turns around by 2010, the GOP will be all but eradicated. Sure, the Republicans picked up seats in 1994 even after voting against the Budget Reduction Act. . . but that was before the economy really started to turn around.
Plus, let’s look at this pattern:
Bush HW Bush= Recession
Clinton= Prosperity and budget SURPLUSES (even though Republicans warned that the Budget Reduction Act would lead to a ‘Depression’!)
George W. Bush= Recession (although the wealthy did very well throughout most of his Presidency, the average worker did not- most saw decreasing wages and increasing health care costs)
Obama=???? If the economy turns around, the Dems will be seen as the party of economic prosperity, while the Republicans will be seen as the party of tax cuts for the wealthy leading to recession. If, however, the economy tanks (like the GOP doom and gloomers say it will due to the stimulus bill). . . then even Obama has said he will be a one-term President.
People may have voted for the GOP in 1994, but that was BEFORE the pattern became clear. If the GOP is on the wrong side and the Stimulus bill works, say ‘bye-bye’ to the ‘Taliban’ Republican party as we know it!
unless there is a written document from Gregg, notarized and sworn to by at least two other people, I won’t buy that damage-control line…Mark
——————————
I am sure that if this was a lie, Mark, Gregg, being a truthful and respectable Republican public servant, would have set the record straight by now.
If he did not seek them out, he would have definitely said so, being an honest Republican and all.
So until Gregg issues a denial, let’s go with the official statement.
bloch
And had a dirty bomb gone off ion DC the day after Obama was inaugurated you would be howling for his memory as a national holiday.
one could only wish, i will throw in congress (both houses) as a bonus……..start our LOST republic from scratch!
After President Barack Obama nominated his second Commerce Secretary candidate in two weeks, his uber-liberal core constituency began screeching that his “big tent” was “bursting at the seams.” A grand jury investigation into state contracts for political donors had forced New Mexico governor Bill Richardson to drop out and Obama tapped New Hampshire Republican Sen. Judd Gregg. California Rep. Barbara Lee petulantly decried Gregg’s complaints over Clinton Administration Census Bureau methods.
Gregg didn’t refuse to fund the Census, as Lee wants the public to believe. He objected to Clinton administration attempts to “redraw their congressional districts” and reallocate federal grants to states with “statistical sampling” adjustments. The Supreme Court ruled against Census use of statistical sampling to reapportion the 435 House of Representative seats in the 1999 case Commerce Department v. U.S. House. Alas, the high court did not outlaw statistical samples methods to redistrict within states. But Lee got her way: Gregg too dropped out on February 12, citing his dissatisfaction with the administration’s handling of the census and stimulus packages Thus, the “recurrent fantasy of Census critics on the Left” remains, to revise “population numbers more to their liking,” observes former Census chief Bruce Chapman (1981-1983). If successful, such a feat would redistribute power and funds for least a decade — and could permanently damage America’s political landscape and its carefully constructed internal balance of power.

OK, who started the Most Stupid Comment Made by An RRL contest? I finally caught on to the obvious, that you Libs are really just competing to see who can post the dumbest comment.
bloch, as usual, is in the lead, with “And had a dirty bomb gone off ion DC the day after Obama was inaugurated you would be howling for his Impeachment. On the other hand, had DC been dirty bombed in 2005 and the US capital lost for forty years to cesium or strontium fallout somehow Dubya still would have been free from criticism.”
So deeply and profoundly stupid on so many levels, this one should qualify in several categories. Do you have one for Most Delusional? She’s clearly in the running for Most Toxic.
The sad/scary thing is that anyone could even come up with this insanity, even as a joke.
But breathing down bloch’s neck is the mouth-breathing orlando with “I do find it amusing that suddenly, wingnuts think politicizing government agencies is a bad thing.” The “government agency” he is talking about is the Census Bureau, and, duh, yeah, lando, politicizing the agency which was created for one purpose and one purpose only, to accurately count the population of the country every ten years, WOULD be a bad thing. Or is your argument that there is no need or purpose for having an accurate, unbiased, objective accounting of the population of the country? Is it that a politicized accounting, slanted to benefit any party or agenda, would be jes’ fine?
And coulterfan is gaining with this gem: “The GOP is already a small regional party which is using the Taliban as a model .”
You guys ought to know that saying things like this, even in jest, even if you are just trying to win the Stuck On Stupid award, also has the effect of leaving us with a puzzle: Are they really this dumb, or are they just terminally crazy? All this toxic sludge you dish out, seemingly so effortlessly, does lead the sane to wonder under which rocks you lurk, and why you even bother to crawl out at all if this is all you have to offer.
