City Run by Race-Baiting, Leftist Democrat Going Broke

Los Angeles goes down the tubes:

Los Angeles could face nearly a $1-billion shortfall by 2010 because of a mammoth bailout needed for the city’s employee pension funds, which have seen investments tank in the spiraling national recession, according to a city budget report released Friday.

The grim forecast of a $983-million budget gap came as Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa already was considering widespread city layoffs and deep cuts to services because of the worsening financial crisis. The mayor is also exploring whether to privatize the Los Angeles Zoo and leasing city parking garages and meters, which could raise hundreds of millions of dollars. The total budget this year is $7 billion.

I feel bad for Los Angeles – I lived there back in the 80’s, before liberals outlawed fun and I moved to more relaxed areas of the country. But Los Angeles is getting precisely what it asked for: by electing an endless string of big-spending uber-liberals and capping it off with Villaraigosa – a kook left race hustler from waaaay back – the people of Los Angeles have no one but themselves to blame for their predicament. Sitting on a beach with some of the most valuable real-estate in the world, Los Angeles demonstrates that if liberals were placed in charge of the Saraha Desert, there would eventually be a shortage of sand.

  1. I lived there back in the 80’s, before liberals outlawed fun and I moved to more relaxed areas of the country.

There has got to be a story in there.

by electing an endless string of big-spending uber-liberals and capping it off with Villaraigosa – a kook left race hustler from waaaay back – the people of Los Angeles have no one but themselves to blame for their predicament.

I fail to see the connection between big spending and everyone’s pension funds becoming worthless because the economy has tanked.

  2. Mark Noonan says:

    Sergei,

Used to be you could pile up a score of wooden pallets on the beach, light them on fire while gathered around a keg of beer and no one would bother you…now, from what I understand, you can be ticketed for smoking a cigarette on some beaches. Hippies got themselves elected to State government and banned everything hippies used to do…except the panhandling and dope smoking parts of it.

It was the big-spenders who piled high the pension funds until they could only be sustained by continual and massive growth in revenues via ever increasing home prices. In other words, they legislated a ponzi scheme, and now its bankrupting the city.

So let me get this straight. The Republican deregulation of the banks that began with Reagan [think thrifts] that led to all your economic and banking woes this morning and the massive losses in equities that has cost pension funds well over half of their value in the past two years is now the fault of the L.A. mayor???

And there are people who comment here that say I live in a fantasyland? White men have run the United States from the very moment it was concieved and they bear the responsibility for where it is right now–no one else.

  4. In other words, they gave their employees benefits, then got hit by the economic crisis like everyone else.

  5. Mark Noonan says:

    Sergei,

They gave their union employees – who donated large campaign sums – overly generous benefits which could not be sustained in normal market conditions.

  6. Mark Noonan says:

    bloch,

I’d let you get things straight, but I don’t want to wait ten or twenty years for you to do so…we’re not talking about Reagan.

  7. White men have run the United States from the very moment it was concieved and they bear the responsibility for where it is right now–no one else.

It was only a couple of rogue chapters of the International Fellowship of White Guys Who Can’t Dance who refused to obey High Command that got us into the current crisis. Please don’t blame the entire conspiracy for their actions of a handful of foolish miscreants disloyal to the cause.

  8. Mark,
Normal market conditions before the crash, or normal market conditions after it?

  9. Mark Noonan says:

    Sergei,

Normal market conditions include the prospect of a crash – its not like this is the first massive downturn in the California real estate market.

Budgeting should be like this – what was the actual dollar revenue from two years ago?

That is the budget for this fiscal year.

If there is a surplus at the end of the year, half of it goes into a rainy day fund, the other half can be spent any which way you like.

Repeat. You’ll never be strapped for cash.

  10. bozo says:

And the INSTANT there is a surplus “rainy day” fund, EVERYONE, liberal and conservative, screams “Why are you hoarding our money?!” Liberals want it spent back to them, conservatives want it “tax-breaked” back to them, and the rainy day fund is gone in half an election cycle.

I can’t believe YOU of all people think the government should hoard taxpayer money just in case there’s a downturn. You’d be the first to scream “over-taxation”!

California will be fine. As soon as the right-winginator bloviator-governator-muscle-headed action hero leaves the governor’s mansion (oh, wait… he commutes in his private jet to work from Los Angeles…yes, he’s so in touch with working folks) we’ll be fine. We lost our heads for a minute and elected a governor who can’t pronounce the state he governs, but this will pass.

Villaraigosa is a poser, I’ll grant you that. But I thought you’d be thrilled with his plan to privatize the zoo, among other right-wing maneuvers he’s proposing.

    Go figure.

  11. tiredoflibbs says:

Every liberal bastion in this country is (and was) hurting before the economic crunch.

Their ideas, which are still being enacted even by the Obamateur (falsely labeled as “fresh ideas”) have been proven failures and are not sustainable. Their ideas need productive individuals to leech from in order to make their utopia (another falsely used term).

Look at New Orleans, 30 years of liberal rule and before Katrina, they managed to drive out big business and the oil corporations, where their main sources of income were taxation and tourism. Let’s not forget that liberalism of both the mayor and the governor (who believed that everything was the federal governments responsibility) failed to implement any plan that was created for such an emergency. They just sat down and waited for the call from FEMA and the military.

Now, everything that they have implemented in the name of fairness, political correctness, wealth redistribution, catered to their special interest handlers and socialist ideology have come back to bite them in the a$$ and they blame Reagan, deregulation and other such nonsense.

Big government has brought us here today and the lemmings and useful idiots believe that it is the solution now, when it has failed miserably. Look at any large metropolitan area that can barely keep it head above water.

You obviously missed the e-mail that the real problem you guys have is blaming others when you fail. What you say here is trash. All large cities in “liberal” states were failing before the housing bubble burst?? LMAO You should just go and get yourself a gig at the Comedy Store in the East End.

  13. ricorun says:

Mark (9): If there is a surplus at the end of the year, half of it goes into a rainy day fund, the other half can be spent any which way you like. Repeat. You’ll never be strapped for cash.

How did that go for you on a personal level?

On a less personal level, as you may recall, Bush made the violation of this precept the rationale for his first wave of tax cuts — using very much the language bozo (10) mentioned. And I think bozo’s also right that both liberals and conservatives find a way to drain whatever rainy day fund that’s established almost as soon as it is. So whaddya do? Maybe, finally, everyone’s learned their lesson. But I’m not going to hold my breath.

  14. ricorun says:

Just curious by the way… how did the liberals outlaw fun in LA back in the 80s? And exactly how is Las Vegas more relaxed?

LOL I stand corrected Sergei and I apologize for the broad generalization to all members of the white male hegemony who had no hand in this current crisis.

  16. Hey, if LA is going down, we here in Raleigh would love to have the Dodgers move here. Well, at least I would. I promise we won’t arrive in the 3rd and leave in the 7th

  17. liberalnightmare says:

Funny, at first I thought you were talking about Detroit.

  18. tiredoflibbs says:

    bloch,

your fantasy does not match reality. Those cities that have long been subject to liberal control have had problem after problem when it comes to revenues and spending. Large businesses leave the confines of the city to establish outside of their confiscatory taxes.

You are of the mind that nothing liberal or socialist can be bad. It is a shame that you think that way and it is that thinking that gets in the way of real solutions. Your answer to everything is Reagan’s fault (who is now blaming others for when you fail?).

Why aren’t these cities, that have been under lib control for decades, the utopia that is should be under such benevolent rule and “fresh ideas”? Their situation only proves that their “fresh ideas” have been exhausted and the repackaging of those same ideas have failed. These cities have only managed to “get by”.

It is time to leave the “land of make believe” bloch and enter the real world.

More racism from the angry black woman? Well, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em:

Black men have run African nations since said nations were turned over to them by the “evil white colonialists.” And how are those nations doing today? Last time I checked, they were being run by ruthless dictators, and wars are being fought all over the continent.

You need to get over it, bloch, or move away from all the white men…

Why is it so hard to believe that a white woman would disagree with a white male social conservative?? Isn’t Janeane Garofalo American?? Isn’t Anne Hathaway?? The level of “nigger terror” among white conservative men is laughable to the point of farce! Barack Obama really rocked your world didn’t he ??

I had already apologized for my gross generalization and it remains a sincere one.

If keefer were worth his salt as captain of the spelling police (interestingly, salt itself being a rather poignant reminder of things gone by vis-a-vis Africa), he would remind you that you spelled “nauseum” wrong.

But I suppose (or at least wish) that’s a minor point. The major one is related to this comment: Or any black utopia of her choice, hell maybe she could be begging for money on tv with sally struthers, from us terrible white devils.

It’s something of an understatement to say that I’m not very fond of bloch. And because it is it’s somewhat painful for me to remind everyone that the colonial days in Africa are no more distant in history than the Jim Crow days here in America — often significantly less so. Thus, to assume that Africa as a whole, or any nation within it, could right itself immediately given its past, is at best disengenuous in the extreme. I mean come on, even Central and South America are still struggling to emerge from their “Banana Republic” phase.

Somewhat off-topic (and certainly un-PC), I am very fond of at least one chiquita they’ve produced, lol!

Excuses are like butt holes, everyone has one and they all stink……..There is NOT one black country in the entire world that is not a hellhole.

as are every major inner city in the US.
The ones with black mayors are the worst, this is not intended to be racist it is a fact.
I just want bloch to be happy, therefore she should join the nation of islam and live with louie fartacan.

its only in “its” eyes that there are actual differences…

There is NOT one black country in the entire world that is not a hellhole.

Name more than one which has been independent of colonial rule for more than 100 years. That’s part one. Part 2 is… name any which have been both independent, and not bordered by any other country that has been independent of colonial rule for more than 100 years.

And if 100 years is too many, what would a better number be, in your opinion? And why?

  28. fmrmarine says:

I really do not know, I know how far the US has come in say 150 years.

What baffles me was the modern marvel the roman empire was, and all through the ages that gave us all the great artworks, castles, ballroom dancing, great ships etc.
While the Africans of 175 years ago were almost in the stone age.

  29. 1luv2h8lib5 says:

You are one delusional angry black woman, and it is you who is the farce. Laugh away, you useless twit. I can’t believe a person can harbor so much hatred of people of any race, but you sure have a big chip on your angry black woman shoulder.

Earbama didn’t “rock my world;” I stopped caring about one’s race when I was, say, abour eight years old. Earbama, as a human being, is “rocking my world” by ruining the America I once knew. And there are plenty of white men assisting him. I despise them even more than I despise Earbama.

I had already apologized for my gross generalization and it remains a sincere one.

You should apologize for breathing, you waste of oxygen!

Uh, rico, I don’t catch ‘em all, and I have, on occasion, misspelled words here. I just have no respect for those who can’t practice basic writing skills, word usage, and basic spelling involving words commonly used. It’s no use correcting angry black woman’s poor writing; she’s perfect, in her mind. She’s a “journalist” at The Daily Hellhole, the blog read by dozens. And she’s a relic–a sister living in the sixties. I see her kind frequently; they’re a pitiful lot, but highly entertaining, if you can understand what they’re saying during their hate-whitey rants.

  30. tiredoflibbs says:

“This would have nothing of course to do with the outsourcing of those jobs that once filled urban office buildings would it??”

Of course! Driven away by liberal policy, confiscatory taxes and other such nonsense – a no brainer. The United States has one of the highest federal corporate tax rates in the world. Then subject these companies to higher local taxes. Like I said, it happened in New Orleans. New Orleans was once the heart of the oil patch in the Gulf of Mexico. Main offices for Shell, Chevron, Exxon, etc. Slowly, one by one, they left for more favorable (and friendly) Houston. New Orleans became increasingly dependent on tourism. Majority of the population was incapable of holding jobs that had anything to do with technology. Another failure of socialist liberalism – inner city schools, but that is another subject.

Outsourcing, another improper label. The jobs belong to the corporation not the citizenry. Obamateur’s and the liberals phrase “outsourcing our jobs overseas” is another lie pushed onto the ignorant populace. The jobs belong to the corporation to do with as they please. If conditions become unfavorable in one country and they have the means, they move to another. Thank Mr. Clinton for the agreements with China and Mexico.

Be proud of the record that is active in driving away corporations and “outsourcing” as a result or failed liberal policy. No amount of repackaging and redefining changes the same tired old ideas that the Obamateur has convinced the lemmings and useful idiots to be “fresh ideas” will work. Too bad you fools have fallen for it.

CA has had a DEM legislature for years. When you have DEM controlled cities like LA, Detroit, Philly, Chicago, and New Orleans you have cesspools of crime and war zones. It ain’t Norwegians doing drive bys in da hood! And Villariagosa is just another DEM whore guy. If he spent as much time being a Mayor as he spends unzipping his fly with all his mistresses, LA wouldn’t be a laughing stock.
I find it amusing that bloch thinks only white men control banks and have pensions. Seems to me a few black CEOs walked away with millions.
bloch, you need to stay in the shallow end of the kiddie pool with Sharpton. Your victim tattoos will stay dry.

  32. CA has had a DEM legislature for years.

Budgets here require a two thirds majority to pass, so Republicans are much more influential than you’d think.
