L. E. Ikenga nails Obama right down to the ground:
Had Americans been able to stop obsessing over the color of Barack Obama’s skin and instead paid more attention to his cultural identity, maybe he would not be in the White House today. The key to understanding him lies with his identification with his father, and his adoption of a cultural and political mindset rooted in postcolonial Africa.
Like many educated intellectuals in postcolonial Africa, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. was enraged at the transformation of his native land by its colonial conqueror. But instead of embracing the traditional values of his own tribal cultural past, he embraced an imported Western ideology, Marxism. I call such frustrated and angry modern Africans who embrace various foreign “isms”, instead of looking homeward for repair of societies that are broken, African Colonials. They are Africans who serve foreign ideas.

Obama = Mugabe…
luv
Obama = Mugabe…
maybe amin
Obama’s connection with his father is tenuous, to say the least. Knowing Obama’s biography actually (beyond the fact that he’s black) improves his image in my stature, and gives me hope for what he can accomplish. Growing up in Kansas, Hawaii, Indonesia, Chicago, New York, whatever gives Obama a practical and tested worldview.
How we got a “President Obama” was simple. 8 years of lies and half-truths about George W Bush; a press that simply did not do their job, and a electorate that has been dumbed down to the point that they are unable to think for themselves. Any candidate, male/female, black/white, Democrat or Republican with the known associates that BHO has; the lack of a paper trail; the millions spent on keeping college records, Illinois state senate records, as well as the Anninburg Project hidden; as well as no known childhood friends; no intellectual curiosity over his past drug use; and a host of other things, would have gotten that candidate laughed off the national stage. We are told how smart he is, but have yet to see any proof. The Cultural identity issue is just one more thing that wasn’t and probably will not be explored.
Arcman, I think you mean 8 years of lies and half-truths FROM George W Bush.
Right now Noob, I would take George W Bush over Barack Obama in a heartbeat. Heck I’d take the neighbor’s dog. Bush might not have been the best President we had, but one thing is for sure, he was at least honest. What we have gotten from Obama, is a Spendulus bill that no one in congress that voted for it has read; a Cap and Trade bill; ditto; a soon to be health care bill that will cost trillions and be as efficient as the DMV. He has nominated, and had confirmed a cabinet full of tax cheats, and gone overboard on csars. He has taken over banks and automobile companies, and then lies about it. Gee, I hope you like “the change” you got, because you can take it and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine.
O– Sign of the Easily Fooled
You’d take the neighbor’s dog? Who are you, Rick Santorum?
Bush was honest. Right. “We do not torture.” “Iraq has WMD.” “Saddam did 9/11.” Bush also forced through legislation, at a much brisker pace than Obama’s doing now, branding any opponents as “unpatriotic” and “terrorists” and “traitors” and “soft on terror”. The Patriot Act (so ironically named) for example, was amended the night before it passed, and went largely unread. The patiot act was also used by Bush to perform ILLEGAL, UNCONSTITUTIONAL acts, DIRECTLY IN CONTRAVENTION WITH HIS OATH OF OFFICE. What has Obama ever done that’s illegal? (As president).
Growing up in Kansas, Hawaii, Indonesia, Chicago, New York, whatever gives Obama a practical and tested worldview…fr00tn00b

Which accounts for the fact of his world-wide popularity, fr00tn00b. Those folks who remain mired deep in their regional mud will not appreciate Obama’s enlightened views, whereas, American citizens with a more worldly outlook, will.
The international acceptance of the current world leader must be a thorn in the side of those who embraced and continue to embrace the ideals of the former one.
You would think that they would welcome the change in world opinion, wouldn’t you, but they seem to revel in the fact that the U.S. was detested during the Bush years. It is almost like a badge of honor for them and they are loathed to change.
@CanadianObserver:
That was Obama’s fault. Boss Limbaugh says so.
CO,
Obama’s world-wide popularity and $5 will get you a cup of coffee….his world-wide popularity hasn’t cooled down Iran, North Korea or the various terrorist groups; hasn’t convinced Russia to stop trying to re-assemble the Russian Empire; hasn’t induced the Chinese to quit manipulating their currency and committing de-facto genocide in Tibet; hasn’t got Mugabe to release his grip on Zimbabwe; hasn’t got the European Union to step up to the plate in a serious manner in international security issues…in short, all its done is allow you on your side to feel good. I think we need more than your good feelings, don’t you think?
“all its done is allow you on your side to feel good. I think we need more than your good feelings, don’t you think?”…Mark

Given the choice of feeling good about the leader of the free world or feeling disgusted & outraged, Mark, I’ll take good feelings any time.
CO,
So, as long as you feel good, its ok…liberalism in a nutshell.
Yep, that’s it in a nutshell, Mark. Liberals want to improve life here on earth. Make love, not war, do onto others, and all that other good feeling stuff that you right-wingers find so offensive.

On the other hand, Bush’s cowboy policies didn’t exactly make things any better either. in fact, I would argue that they helped lead to many of the problems you mentioned. Let’s see how things look four years from now. I doubt anyone could turn things around in 5 months.
RE: Liberals want to improve life here on earth.
Well, you might do it, but I don’t see very much evidence for it.
The only problem I see with today’s brand of liberalism, is the fact that they want the government to take from the rich and give to the poor, when it is the duty of the rich to give from the heart and not have their earnings taken from them. And too, those who are working have less in their savings to help their children. Also, when the government rations out the money like that, it creates no incentive for the ones receiving the money to have a desire to move up and get off of welfare. They just continue to wait on the government.
When the government takes at or above ten percent of what we own then they are claiming complete sovereignty, which, for all intents and purposes does not belong to them.
“The power to tax, is the power to destroy.”
And morally, when the government bases its governance of morality on that of a humanist framework…again, they are taking sovereignty for themselves that does not rightfully belong to them. For example…”Hate crimes” law, that was recently introduced to Congress…the argument for these laws, is a supposed epidemic of violence against homosexuals. But we do not see such “violence” … if it were true, then they would be justified, but they are not. Even then, if harsher punishments deter violent crimes, then why shouldn’t we have harsher punishments for all assaults, regardless of the victim’s sexual orientations? Remember the “Philadelphia 11″? Well, Christians were arrested and jailed overnight for singing and preaching in a Philadelphia public park at a homosexual street festival. Five (5) of them, were bound and charged with five felonies and three misdemeanors, meaning the defendants faced possible forty-seven-year prison sentences.
Kind of extreme, don’t you think? I think so. It kind of fits in with what Ahmadinejad ordered against innocent people who were protesting.
And of course, the murder of millions of innocent children, is another thing that liberals support, that really disturbs me. Obama removing all stops to murder babies all the way up until the time they are being born.
and all that other good feeling stuff that you right-wingers find so offensive.
If the above is any indicator….well, let’s just say the future of the United States of America doesn’t look too bright.
So, instead of the adage that you liberals like to use “live and let live” …. I say …. Live and let learn. That’s how the pages of history are made, my friend.
CO,
Thing is, you don’t want to improve life on Earth – you just want to feel better. I prefer to actually do something of worth rather than feel good about being a slug.
Casper
Actually, Bush’s policies did make things better – you see, the world isn’t actually governed according to opinion polls; especially that part of the world governed by tyrants. It doesn’t matter in the least that Euro-trash intellectuals thought badly of us 2001-09 – they are trivial people who are leading a continent to its death…what is important is that hundreds of thousands of Iraqis volunteered to fight for their own liberty, thus providing an object lesson to the peoples of the larger Moslem world…as we can see in Lebanon, Iran and elsewhere.
I prefer to actually do something of worth rather than feel good about being a slug…Mark
——————————————————
Well, Mark, then you must have some liberal tendencies in doing something of worth for the benefit of your fellow citizens.
You no doubt are aware that in just the last century, liberals have brought you:-
The GI Bill, the Endangered Species Act, Environmental Laws, the Space Program, the Peace Corps, the Civil Rights Movement, Earned Income Tax Credit, Family & Medical Leave Act, Consumer Product Safety Commission, Americans With Disabilities Act, Freedom of Information Act, Women’s right to control their reproductive future, allowing citizens to view their own credit records, Unemployment Insurance, Women’s Right to Vote, Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, Labor Laws, The Marshall Plan, Food Safety Laws, Workplace Safety Laws, Universal Public Education, National Weather Service, Universal Public Education, Product Labeling Laws, Truth in Advertising Laws, Rural Electrification, Public Universities,Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
and on and on…
I guess liberal slugs have brought some good feeling things into your life, eh, Mark; that is unless you have opted out of all liberal inspired programs.
CO,
Well, the Endangered Species Act, Peace Corps, Earned Income Tax Credit, Consumer Product Safety Commission, Social Security, Americans With Disabilities Act, Medicare/Medicaid and Roe have all been unmitigated disasters. Public education was a 19th century innovation, and was designed to keep those nasty Irish Catholics under control. Food Safety laws were enacted first under Teddy Roosevelt but were, in the end, just a means of keeping the smaller competitors out of the business so that large, monopolistic food giants could have the whole market to themselves. Women’s Right to Vote is an oddity as never once did the suffragettes demand a vote by women as to whether or not they wanted to vote – they merely pressured (nagged, that is) men until men just went ahead and did it. Strange way to run a democracy, huh?
I could go on, but you get the point…your whole worldview is built upon a large number of entirely false premises.
Yes, Mark, we know, we know, in your mind all liberal advancements have been proven to be dismal failures and if you had your way all social programs would be eliminated and we could return to the days of “I’m alright, Jack”.
CO,
You forget that I’m Catholic and not at all capitalist…you think that capitalism is conservative, but its actually liberal. I know, a lot of conservatives have got this wrong, but when they talk of defending capitalism, what they really mean is free markets…
