We made one heck of a huge mistake in November, my fellow Americans:
The White House is being forced to acknowledge the wide gap between its once-upbeat predictions about the economy and today’s bleak landscape.
The administration’s annual midsummer budget update is sure to show higher deficits and unemployment and slower growth than projected in President Barack Obama’s budget in February and update in May, and that could complicate his efforts to get his signature health care and global-warming proposals through Congress.
The release of the update—usually scheduled for mid-July—has been put off until the middle of next month, giving rise to speculation the White House is delaying the bad news at least until Congress leaves town Aug. 7 on its summer recess.
The administration is pressing for votes before then on its $1 trillion health care initiative, which lawmakers are arguing over how to finance.
Anyone who defends this Administration is digging himself ever deeper in to the “sucker” hole – Obama knows his numbers are all screwed up, that his Obamacare can’t be paid for, but he wants to hide the budget numbers until after the vote…so that the numbers won’t show that passing Obamacare is national economic suicide.
Here’s the real problem – the greatest nation in human history has an inexperienced, cowardly socialist for a President…his VP is even more of an idiot, and the leaders of the House and Senate are partisan hacks. We’re stuck hoping that, some how, Clinton and Gates can keep things up on the rails until we can vote Obama and his Democrats out.
Its going to be a very, very long four years.

The Dems have put themselves in an awkward position. They won on the claim that they are fiscally more savvy, more responsible, and more skillful, and on their playing up of the recession left by Bush.
They then had to stampede Congress into signing a blank check for billions and then trillions of dollars, giving them a few hours to read more than a thousand pages of densely worded gobbeldygook that passed for a bill, using the horrible imminent (or, according to our next Justice of the Supreme Court, ‘eminent’) danger of overwhelming catastrophe and disaster to panic them into falling into lockstep behind this new, aggressive, White House. The stampede succeeded because it was portrayed as The Solution To The Mess They INHERITED. They knew exactly how big this INHERITED mess was, they kept telling us, they understood it to a T, and they also knew how to fix it.
So then when their efforts failed, as anyone with any understanding of economics knew they would, they had to claim that they were fooled, were not all that smart after all, etc. The only way to continue to hang onto the INHERITED whine is to say, well, the mess was always there, WE didn’t do anything to make it worse, oh no, it was Bush, it was always Bush—we just didn’t understand how bad it was, we were not as smart as we said we were, we were actually pretty dumb because we simply had no clue.
Now all they can do is lie, have people out there spreading silly stories such as how the economy is doing so much better and we know this because fewer people are googling ‘bankruptcy’ and other nonsense (maybe fewer people can afford computers, eh?) and count on continuing to gull the American public.
Obama was always smoke and mirrors, always a sleight-of-hand, now you see it now you don’t, con man with a huge powerful political machine behind him, and it worked as long as all he had to do was lie about the opposition, keep his own personal history a secret, and make a lot of promises. Now he has to keep those promises, and it’s a whole new ball game.
Amazona,
Obama will one day curse the name of the first person who suggested he run for President. “Senator” was the perfect job for him – a place of power and prestige where results are never measured. He could have had that job for life and become one of America’s most powerful political fixers. Now he’s set to be a failed, one-term President no one will want to hear about.
Mark, what I look forward to is the same reaction to the radical socialist policies he is trying to hard to ram down our throats. To the naive, the inexperienced, the historically illiterate, some of these ideas must sound pretty good. We will pay a high cost to educate these people (a job that should have been done in school) but it may be worth it, to have them have first-hand experience of the follies of these wishful thinking policies. Hopefully this experiment with our country, using our money and our time and our energy and our resources, will put to rest the fantasy that all a nation has to do to prosper is to take away the property of some to redistribute to others, and control the lives of its citizens.
I am so glad that Obamateur’s administration is so transparent. Of course, not in the way he promised.
Liberals,
Don’t you have anything to say? Or have the talking points not arrived, yet?
I honestly don’t see a problem with this. If withholding this data get a health care reform bill with a public option passed hold on to it until September when they all ccome back. I could bloody care less.
It’s a political move. Every economist on terra knows joblessness will rise to at least 11.1% by the end of this crisis. If the data show 10% in the summer of this year that is a political issue with the “double digit” banner being flown high by the right.
In 2012 when Obama is reelected I’ll still have that plate of crow warm for you to dine upon. And do keep up the namecalling this will make great advert fodder in three years.
There are just too many bloody people here on terra who are as dumb as econ. Sodding sods, sod them all, bloody bloody hell, USD.
Of COURSE a Rabid Radical Liberal would not care how much Obama has to lie to achieve one of his socialist goals. I am just amazed that any of you is willing to admit it.
We have been commenting on this characteristic of the Libs for years now–you all must be feeling pretty smug to be ready to just fess up to the tactic.
No news here, though……………
