Some people are – very correctly – advocating keeping the kiddies out of The One’s propaganda mill on September 8th:
…I wouldn’t have such a problem with the Department of Education were this presented in a non-Orwellian fashion. Oh yes, it is, as the lesson plan directs, to listen to what the president, the mayor, et al. says, to respect their “authoritah” , but there is no emphasis in here on why the president and other elected officials should listen to US. The focus is solely on authority. There is no consideration given to the authority of the American people. That’s what concerns me.
There is this mindset that those in Washington are the “elite,” that we should mind our Ps and Qs and blindly follow their directives. That’s not the manner of governance upon which this country was founded…
Indeed – let Dear Leader speak to empty seats. Obama has no right and no business doing this – and the school systems which are laying down under this are failing decisively in their duty to make citizens out of our children.

I do so hope the South Park folks expend a bit of their creative energy on this event.
Do you know to which grades he is going to be speaking, er brainwashing? Not sure I want to keep mine home because she is a good little conservative and can ask questions others won’t. But it would be nice if all conservatives kept their kids home that day to teach the schools a lesson. They won’t get paid that day.
Just so you know, there are no plans in my building to watch Obama’s speech. As far as I know, nothing has been mandated on any level in our district as far as watching the speech or following the lesson plans.

Yes, you do, but the schools do not. I know there is a budget crunch but this is absolutely ridiculous.

I realize that public education has failed miserably in the last 30 years, but I can’t imagine any school system advocating this.
This is the NEA, a liberal cabal more interested in promoting agendas than educating children. Just another incompetent government bureaucracy, of which liberals want more of.

Yes, the NEA and U.S. Department of Education are basically the same thing, they are connected in one degree or another. The NEA does most of the fund-raising to keep the anti-American Atheist Communist causes in place in education, providing the curriculum, programs, etc.

Indeed, it’s scary. It’s scary to know the number of children who’ve came out of the public, government-run educational system over the past 6 decades and what they have been taught from some of the “professors.”

Count, do you mean “subjects” as in course work or do you mean subjected individuals?
We all know that Obamateur will consider this addressing his subjects, since he is a member of the RULING party.
this is getting offensive…did he ask these childrens parents for permission to expose them to political indoctrination? its a far cry from getting an education to plying the minds of children to follow a marxist because thier teachers tell them that the guy is a hero…

Maybe the message will be about education, and not contain any brainwashing. I am sure that the text of his speech will be available after September 8 — at that point, we can look at what he said and determine which parts, if any, could have sent the wrong message to kids.
But there’s a good chance that the speech will be benign and apolitical:
“The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens.”
If the President addresses the nation’s students and tells them of the importance of education (and keeps politics out of it), that would be a good thing, wouldn’t it?

What do you think the president wants us to do?
Does the speech make you want to do anything?
Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us?
What would you like to tell the president?
Some of the more relevant questions for students than the above gibberish:
What are the constitutional limits on this president’s power?
Is the president asking us to do things that are really outside of his designated powers?
If they are SHOULD we do what President Obama is asking of us?
I guess since Chairman Mao had his “Little Red Book” it is reasonable for Obama to have his “Little Red School house”. I wonder if Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Tojo, Nero (you get the picture) ever delivered a rant to such a large targeted segment of their populations.

Children have been exposed to leftist indoctrination for years, and years and years …. no secret!! And that’s how we got a Communist President today.
Obama hopes the children will go home and try to change Mommy and Daddy’s mind, because he is der “leader.”
Well, it’s really not necessary for him to change minds, as most of their mommies and daddies are atheist liberals anyway … so it comes natural to them, because the majority of them came from the same school-of-thought that he and his czars did also.
